The Witness = The Winnower ?

The Winnower is THE FORCE behind the Darkness. It’s creator. The Witness is just a henchman of the Winnower

I think the witness is the disciple of the darkness. He may lead the darkness armies but he does not control them per se. I think the may be leading the darkness but the winnower is whats empowering them and that the witness is not in actial control of the dark. I remember from a lore piece or voice line somewhere it describes the witness as "cloaked in the darkness" or something similar.

I’d say it’s the Winnowers main henchmen.

Yeah I foresee the Witness being the bad guy in Lightfall, we beat him but right as we beat him, the Winnower shows up and beats us and we lose, HARD. Then we have to spend the next 4 seasons getting allies and rebuilding supplies for the final confrontation in The Final Shape.
