Have you ever heard of gambling? It the same thing: you keep going because you feel you must even when they have the freedom to stop whenever they want. It's more simple in this case, he is gambling his time away for happiness/completion (this being inhibited by RNG)

Still don’t understand! Destiny has been around for years we all know the in’s and out’s so we have a choice....play don’t play ! But forcing yourself and not having fun just seems a waste !
