How Is Nobody Talking About Console’s Horrible Loading Times? (Again)
The game’s loading times have gotten dramatically worse over the past months since that one update. Its super frustrating and easily takes away some of the fun.
EDIT: I’ve heard stuff about SSD’s improving loading times. As much as i don’t like how I feel like an SSD is so necessary for older gen consoles, I have started to consider getting one. If anyone could help me out with details on how they work, which ones work well, which ones are cheapest, etc., I would greatly appreciate it (I’m on xbox if that’s a necessary detail)

No one talks about it because it’s been said enough. Current file size of destiny 2 along with hardware limitations of this current gen mixed with how D2 was programmed via these limitations. Load times on consoles won’t see improvement till then next generation of consoles.

I bought a cheap $48 HP SSD off Ebay and the load times are so much better. I almost always load into games first now and solo load times are probably cut by at least 50%. All I did was plug it into the back and transfer Destiny to the SSD. Took all of 15min.

1 ReplySeriously, I dread loading D2 up because it legit takes 10 mins just to get to character selection. I could literally turn it on hit x and go grocery shopping and be back before it loads up. Something needs to be done. Also cant tell u how many times I just wanted to switch a weapon in a gambit match or something and vy the time I do they summoned primevil and we've been invaded and im still in menu waiting.

In all honesty it’s a barrier to me loading the game up plenty of times. I haven’t been enjoying any of the grind since post forsaken and the load time just to get the character selection screen has turned me off to even chipping away at progression.

I have played console up until Cross Save mostly due to the FPS and loading times. They're unbearable. Frankly, I don't think there really is much they can do about it. Every game massive in size I play on console has horrendous load times. I think it's mostly due to an outdated console that isn't strong enough to do everything we want it to now. I do hope I'm wrong though and there's something they can do to make it better. Most of my friends play console and don't have access to a decent PC to play D2 on, and I'd like to see problems there improve, especially when I decide to play with them so it's not so irritating for me lol

I always thought it was that destiny doesn't have dedicated servers. I don't have an SSD, but there are times I spawn in and I'm halfway through a strike before my fireteam arrives. SSD or not, I think it's your connection to the server that you're on that matters.

22 RepliesThe reason people stopped asking about it is, after so many months of asking, we have come to the realization that this is something Bungie either cannot or will not fix. It is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I agree completely. It's like being back in Xbox 360 days. "Keep me alive, guys. I have to change weapons." But at this point, after so many months of nothing from Bungie, I guess it's "just the way it is now" like 'nades no longer having killing power, like never getting dedicated servers, and like never getting PvP separated from PvE. Some things just become part of the Destiny experience. No, it's not a good thing. But Bungie doesn't seem to give a shit. Signed, Eeyore

Literally the way consoles render the levels characters mobs etc. pc can do it I’m assuming because they’re more powerful and hardware is better optimized.

12 RepliesEver wonder why bungie keeps designing this game so half done ? They continued to give and take and resale the same things etc . At the same time they year after year blame the consoles limitations. Everyone making excuses for bungie needs to figure out this is 2019. Not 1999 when p2p games were the cool thing . Think how much more the game could include if it actually used a server for all the normal everyday crap like other games . It's more a bungie limitation than you damn consoles . They have no clue what a MMO is and what massive amounts of content or players mean.but anyone that believes they can do all that by just using the memory and the bandwidth of their customers will believe anything

Bloom/ no dedicated servers are a bigger problem, a simple 50$ SSD will improve load times greatly.

There’s so much time wasting because of this and it’s a shame. Seems PC is now the golden child and that’s fine. I just hope the incoming f2p folks can help eventually buy content to help out. eBay has the simple sata3 connector for $6 and amazon has a 256 gb SSD for about $46 for generic etc. I doubt it’s going to be adjusted and the hardcore will have to adjust

7 RepliesWhat are you talking about? There were plenty months ago addressing it. The solution is to get a solid state hard drive. The game is getting bigger man. It takes time to load everything. Take a look at PC load times in comparison. You'll see a major difference.
