This isn’t a shit post. It’s just a... sad realization post.
I finally got the hunter legs from CoS this week, but it means nothing. I’ll only get to use them for a few more weeks before they’re left behind and I delete them.
Last time it happened with EP armor and Solstice armor.
When Curse of Osiris came out I quit this game for months, but I came back with Forsaken. I’ve taken breaks and whatnot, but I’ve generally enjoyed this game ever since. But, I just have that feeling again... why keep playing this game when loot just doesn’t matter and my time gets crapped on?
I think the changes being made to armor are good for the game, but I think Bungie should have done more to make sure our vault wasn’t wiped out again. They should have made all year 2 armor available as ornaments.
Even the cabal only destroyed our vaults once, Bungie. This is your second time in 2 years.
Edit: thanks for all the bumps. It would be cool if Bungie saw this and worked on getting all armor brought forward to 2.0. If they can turn all Eververse armor into ornaments, maybe they can do the same with all armor.

5 RepliesLook on the bright side, you’re not really losing the armor. You can still wear it, it still has mod slots. Maybe it won’t be as robust as the new armor, but I’ve been wearing Y1 armor for a long time now because I think it just looks better and have done just fine in all activities. We also don’t really know the full extent of how they’re going to transition the armor system. The devs have obviously heard our concerns, they may have some surprises for us.

2 RepliesI thought they were making it so all old armor could be used as ornaments. Or is that just everse armor.

That's kinda how the MMO endgame model works. Everytime there is new content you need to grind out new gear and the old gear gets phased out.

Why do you play Destiny 2? Do you play, just to collect gear? And if you do, that's kool, but games like this often have gear resets. I play Destiny 2, because I enjoy the gun play, the story/lore, and completing Triumphs, quests, and challenges. The gear is almost secondary. It's simply something to chase while completing the current season of content, or between the bigger content drops. I completed the Iron Banner quests on all 3 classes, not because the gear itself, but to help get all my guardians to 750. As well as, the simple gratification of completing a challenge presented to me by Bungie. Many mmo type games have weapon and armor resets, with each new content drop. WoW being a great example of this. And Luke and Mark played a lot of WoW back in the day, and that influence, is clearly shown in the Destiny universe, imo. If you are unable to enjoy playing for gear, in the current moment, with the understanding that it will one day be made obsolete, then the Destiny universe, is probably not the play space for you. And that's perfectly okay. Not every game is the perfect experience for every gamer. But those of us who can accept that much of our loot is only temporary, can get a lot of enjoyment from the Destiny universe.

3 RepliesThey really need to upgrade all armor we've acquired up until now to 2.0 sets and put them in our collections. Seems like an easy fix to me.

If a handful of weapons were the only thing to grind out, everybody would be super bored pretty quick. Dozens of games do this during the life cycle. Out with the old, grind for the new. Otherwise, why are you playing? If your answer is content loop, then the armor change shouldn't impede that. If the answer is loot, then this is more to chase with greater returns.

After learning about the armor it really didnt make me want to continue the iron banner quest. Why grind out cool looking armor for it to be irrelevant in about a month and a half? Im only grinding out guns at this point and the solstice armor for the 2.0 set.

I haven’t changed my main armor loadout since forsaken. I prefer having something to grind out again.

This has really impacted my drive to play. All the hours to get the enhanced perks, sitting with DIM to maximize my warlock arm combinations & all the legs I e ground thru to get traction.. all for nothing.. again 😒 This is the 3rs time in one game we've had a redundancy issue. Why even bother grinding gear in Shadowkeep for it to become useless or destroyed as D3 gives into view... I jus don't see the point anymore 😶
