You do realize that nobody is being swayed by these posts. It's a game forum, if someone has been swayed by a post on a game forum, I seriously doubt they had a strong foundation in their beliefs in the first place. So not only are your posts not doing what I imagine you wanted to do because if you're not doing that, you're trying to be validated by nameless and faceless people for being a good boy and spitting out the right opinions which in all honesty, is kinda pathetic. The posts tend to get very toxic and yes, I'm guilty of this and I'm trying to do better, but this drives users away from each other and pit them against each other. So keep making your political posts I guess, I can't stop you, but I could name alot more posts worthy of the trending spot you'll take up
Edit: Quick note, I think that political posts FROM BOTH SIDES are annoying. So no, I'm not a liberal snowflake looking out for my buddies or a angry conservative looking out for my buddies. Also, I'm not against any political discussion, just the discussion that is going bad like I see here alot

1 ReplyEdited by DemonicChronic: 7/19/2019 12:09:18 AMThe point of debating someone isn't necessarily to persuade the person you're arguing against, it's to influence the other people observing whose perspective isn't so concrete or thought out, people who haven't totally made their minds up. Very often, though, people seem to be arguing simply to one-up their opposition and feed the ego.

12 RepliesIt’s fun to debate. That’s the only reason I get involved. Some people just like politics and they like to debate the issues. It’s a healthy part of living in a democracy I think. Also I don’t agree that it doesn’t change minds. I don’t think I’ll ever flip sides to become a conservative. But I have definitely had my positions changed on various topics through conversations on this forum. If you don’t like political discussions that’s fine. It’s like anything that’s posted here - you are under no obligation to participate. Just scroll past and engage in the topics you like. But seriously nobody on this forum has any right to tell other users what they can and can’t discuss.

5 RepliesFormer ice director has explain to Occasional Cortex that entering the country illegally is... illegal. She tries to act so smart and condescending and then takes a big fat L. So hilarious.

1 ReplyI enjoy discussion but the turd hurling contests get annoying

3 RepliesIt’s true. All they are is a cesspool of toxicity and people unwilling to listen to others. Sure I hop into one when I’m bored and just say something, and I’ll get replies days later calling me a hypocrite, idiot, or just otherwise trying to start a a argument. Take, for instance, someone posted about Trump telling so people to leave the country for whatever reason. I read the post, not the article linked in the posts, and put a reply saying “if you don’t like your country why not just leave.” I took no side to my knowledge and just left a simp statement. This was a few days ago and I’m still getting replies telling me I’m stupid or trying to argue with me. Now I’m usually pretty bored, dull summer, so I try to reply to most things, but with these I gave up. In their eyes they are always right, your always wrong, and toxicity, rudeness, and hatred are the only thing that will change you mind. Guess what guys all it does is make you look like a jerk. Just downvote them and ignore them entirely.

Preach!

It's more about intellectual fellation than swaying opinions. Much like modern politics in general.
-
Yeah I’ve kinda realized at this point that people aren’t actually looking for debate because they know that no matter what their opinion isn’t gonna change no matter how good the counter argument is. It’s pure confirmation bias.

1 ReplyI just don't care anymore. It's 50/50 so the people that vote will cancel each other out. You need 60 Senate seats and the house and the executive branch to actually do anything. Plus they ignore the big problem, the debt. That 22 trillion dollar issue will hurt us more then any event in us history. We can try to balance the budget, cut spending and even raise taxes. But people get mad and those politicians don't last long. The politicians just need to work together.

6 RepliesYou are making alot of assumptions about people here, while telling them not to post to political topics because you don't like them. So skip over them, no-one is forcing you to read any of them, but others like to argue/debate their side view.
-
We have to vent somewhere. And given the insane stupidity of the political scene, we have a lot to vent about.
-
2 RepliesThe fact that people who take the bare minimum of real life action to support any legislative body whatsoever, and yet feel its worth their time to write about it, and worth the time for someone else to read, is the issue at hand here. The public is meant to be distracted after all.

In old Bnet I learned everything I know from politics from groups that strictly talked about politics. Smart people. Since then all their views changed and not a single one supports capitalism. (The ones I keep it touch with.) Shits weird.

4 RepliesI have fun doing it though. Its good to debate, and I do learn some things along the way.
