So was at my friends house and there daughter had just saved up for d2 she’s 12 she was super excited to play. She loves hunters she is a great artist and draws awesome hunters. Well I help her get started and through a few missions. She gets to the point where she could do strikes so I help her get one fired up she gets going and obviously just learning the game and never done the strike before so dosent do so well with direction or kills. But she stuck In there and kept up with her fireteam and managed to help with some dps as best as most in there first strike. Then comes a message to her Xbox the other player had more then a few choice words about her play. Swearing at her to shoot and calling her other things for being slow and making sure she knew how bad she was. It was the lowest point I’ve seen in a game. A kid crying and never wanting to play it again and she hasn’t. Way to go op. There are some real bad people out there. And that’s my biggest problem with this game. That was real low though. She even messaged saying she was a kid and she was sorry. Her mother did report the two people but it dosent stop it.

Its a shame she isn't on PS4, she could play with my daughter. Totally disgusting but I can't say I'm surprised. Seems the days of Guardians helping, waving and dancing is over sadly. Such a shame.

That's really really sad, tell her she's amazing.<3 I started playing games a few years ago with the first Destiny, and got a lot of like, really hateful messages for not being that good. It's like if you haven't been playing games since birth or something you're not good enough. Personally, I don't think the game is that great, but that's for me to decide and for her too, not some jerk on the Internet.

isn’t 15+?

cool story bruh

1 ReplyEdited by fakkelbrigade: 3/1/2018 10:48:13 AMOfcourse it is wrong and sad to send a message like that, but if your new to gaming and or any game in specific and you know your n00b, get better in a save enviroment instead of joining random people in a random game and see how it goes. Plus if she would have used a mic or atleast send those guys a message, the communication thing, things would have went completely different. They understood why she played like a noob, she could have said I am new to this game and gaming in general, and they could and would have helped her! Tell her that, instead of being so naive here. Players don't know who is behind/infront a console and if you go online you say I am ready to play online because I atleast have the basics like aiming and moving under control, come on.

While awful and rude, that’s online gaming for you.

2 RepliesEdited by Dark Raven 2501: 3/1/2018 9:08:36 AMJust because a gamer is frustrated is no justification of sending a abusive message so what the game was going bad it something that you learn from and you move on to the next one & give it another try it will always be there for another time. & just because this gamer is 12 years old doesn’t mean that they can’t enjoy this game as well. some people need to just grow up and stop being a bastard when it comes to other gamers. 🦉

1 ReplyIt’s sad when a young kid is more mature than the so called mature people on Destiny.

I’ve been playing destiny since year 1 and play d2 (not sure why i still play it) but not only are players bullied for not being as good as other as well as not allowed to join a fire team cuz they don’t have the clears or KDR . I’ve seen teams that had all the requirements yet were not cooperating and didn’t finish a raid .Yet I’ve seen teams of first timers finish it like they are all used to it . Personally im all ways open to new players and dont mind if i have to explain things more than once cuz someone has to teach them how its done

8 RepliesThere is a reason why there is q 16+ symbol on the box! Don't blame the comunity. She is still too young to play it

Edited by Spartan Raptorx: 2/28/2018 8:45:09 PMSomeone said a mean thing to your friend's 12 year old daughter and she was upset. It sucks that it happened but it seems she isnt old enough to be playing. She needs to develop a thicker skin if a comment from a stranger can effect her like that. The person who sent her the message is a prick but i doubt its the last message she'll get. Every gamer gets hate mail at some point. Its just part of the internet experience. Thankfully you can report the message and get the person banned 😀 Edit: add a comment when reporting the message, it helps 😉

7 RepliesI blame that on Xbox I’m a PS4 player but when I was on Xbox it was just full of horrible screams 14yr old white kids growing racial slurs your a fag Jew this jew that horrible place to play any online game yrs of PlayStation island I very rarely come across kids like this if they are a kid there normally ok but no where near as toxic as the Xbox lot.

8 RepliesXbox community... not surprised.

A 12yo shouldn’t have the setting to let random people message them. Fix that.
-
Players getting salty over a strike? That’s an all time destiny low. Sorry to hear that.

Edited by Navi: 3/1/2018 5:09:02 AMWhile I do think it's sad one should also consider this as normal when going online. You can report them for this behaviour but it's just something that will happen.

Online interactions not rated by the ESRB. There are shitty people out there

Stopped reading once I saw the wrong there/their/they’re used in the first sentence. I’m calling fake shenanigans.

1 ReplyYou should add a TL;DR section at the bottom.

4 RepliesIf she gets that upset over a message from somebody she doesn't know perhaps she should play games aimed more at her age.

Who sends hate mail about a strike? 1) they are easy enough to solo 2) you can move forward without waiting for fireteam 3) rewards are not that meaningful that it put a damper on someone’s “grind” The whole situation makes no sense to me. I don’t rush through strikes, and I still barely notice what the others in a match made fireteam are even doing, let alone care or get bent out of shape about it. I think the only thing that would even rattle me a little is if I died a stupid death and they came by and grieved me instead of reviving me, but even then I’d probably just laugh 8/10 times because it made it different from every other time.

Dude I really hate to say it, but if you’ve spent any real time on these forums, then you would know that the girl’s experience is indicative of a shamefully large percentage of this community. I’m not saying all, or even most of the community is that toxic, but too many are. And bungie/psn does too little to enforce their terms of service. I strongly recommend reporting the messages to psn rather than bungie. Bungie will do nothing, but psn very well might. If I had an Xbox, I’d tell her to join up with my people and we’d gladly help her out. Just a thought, maybe you could start a clan for children her age...

While it probably won't be the last, that took it to far. Whoever the guy who sent her the message is A pretty dumb M..........r and I hope he gets banned from xbox live permanently. Like if you are gonna trash talk someone then fine but not over petty issues like not doing well in a strike. I hope she gets her confidence to play the game again.

Edited by Demon_XXVII: 2/28/2018 11:01:45 PMSome folk (sadly a growing number) are plain asshats Tell her to ignore those that give her grief, enjoy herself, learn where the ignore/block button is .... carry on with her illustration/design/education/university - and maybe one day she will be a game Dev working on AAA TITLES (where she can implement some real ban systems!) The strongest guardians don't quit - they get back up and win in life! 👍
