Less than a month ago, Hurricane Harvey smashed into and stalled over Texas and Louisiana with winds up to category 4 scale.
Now, Hurricane Irma barrels towards the east coast of the US with winds equating that of a category 5 storm. It is still about a week out, however those on the east coast need to be prepared for anything, including evacuation. Keep an eye on the National Hurricane Center for advice and info on the storm.

Stay safe guys. This is a big one.
Edit: as if a category 5 heading right for the US isn't bad enough, only a few days behind Irma is tropical storm Jose, set to become a hurricane fairly soon. Crazy

1 ReplyI live in SW Florida, and man, people are absolutely freaking out. Never have I seen store shelves go empty of water this quickly. It's hard to get home with all this traffic and lines around the block with people cluttering up the gas stations. I just hope my home and land isn't too badly damaged or flooded, though it gets like that easily.

20 RepliesAnd still no one cares about what's going on in Montana.

2 RepliesEdited by U12070628: 9/8/2017 12:48:30 AMI'm in Tampa, fl. My parents refuse to go anywhere. Hopefully I'll be ok? Plus, when I went to gamestop to pick up destiny 2, there's a Walmart by GameStop and it was flooding with cars.

Crazy
Using alt right logic- "Whoever is in the way of the hurricane deserves it- obviously that strip of land was not for humans but for hurricanes. How dare these people block the path of the hurricanes." (Whoever is in the way of a car protesting the civil rights of people on a closed road deserved to be hit by the car because that strip of road is for cars not people, how dare those people stand in the way of that white nationalist's car. That woman who died deserved it."
See how wrong that sounds in a bigger scenario?

It isn't a false comparison- it's an exact comparison of being in the way of something and death.

As long as people in my party hold that protesters deserve to be ran over, all I can say is is that I hold anyone in the way of that hurricane or natural disaster deserves it for choosing such a poor location.

Obviously that is a terrible statement but that's the kind of logic a lot of people have apparently. I do pray and hope the victims of this hurricane recover quickly- and that the hurricane somehow loses strength early. This is terrible and no one deserves to die unless justice is at work.
Sure am glad I'm 5000 feet above sea level and over a thousand miles inland. I'm also fortunate enough to be just below the fire line that's destroying the other half of the country.

1 ReplyEh well be fine. My the time it reaches central florida it'll only be cat 4 max. You get used to huge storms in Florida it's normal. Heck during hurricane mathew I was playing football with my sister in the middle of it and during hurricane Charley I was out for a jog
-
3 RepliesIrma isn't nearly as bad news though. it's only going to hit florida vs the gulf. erosion has taken out the swampy parts of the gulf coast that weaken storms and act as natural barriers...thus storms are even worse.

What about 'dem gators? Will the Carolina Hurricanes swoop 'em up and make a gatornator?
