Bungie Weekly Update 12/04/2014:
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."

Well, another great lie from Bungle exposed.
Here in December 2014, bungie goes out of their way to clarify that "100% of your progress will carry over into the sequel".
Better yet, remember when deej said the year 1 guardians will be showing off their emblems to the year 10 guardians?
Hahaha nope.
Feel bad for those who wasted real world money on imaginary items from the eververse, that they can't take into destiny 2? I don't. Typical bungle screwing over the most devoted customers, again, and again.
What makes me mad is the 70+ vault of glass raids I put in to get the praetorian foil. Or how I worked so hard to collect all the raid arbor and weapons, only for it all to be for nothing.
-blam!- you bungie.
You've totally broken trust with your customers and wasted our time.
Why the hell should we put time into destiny 2, when we can't bring our hard work into destiny 3?
-blam!- you. I'm done.

Isn't the quote you used in regards to gear transitions to another DLC? I don't ever recall Bungie issuing a statement saying that anything from Destiny will carry over to the sequel until this TWAB.
-
K bye. Suckahman.
-
From what I heard destinys game engine was hard to update constantly like they planned in the beginning. And destiny 2 is going to run on a completely new one, I'm not a computer guy but I don't think you can move assets from one engine to the other they have to be completely remade. Please correct me if I'm wrong I probably am but who knows lol
-
Or you know Activision are setting the parameters on what they can do and what they have to do.
-
Clearly and explicitly define "progress."
-
Cry some more. It's a new game. Get over it. Grow up.
-
It's a new game not an expansion....

PREACH GUARDIAN

Alternative Fact they are using alternative facts

That's fake news!! Fake news!!! No really though, splicer... i mean Deej was just stating alternative facts. Thats all, totally legit.

A while back when the rumors started that our weapons and other stuff wouldn't carry over, I was upset. However, after thinking about it, I'm honestly really happy that we start over so to speak. I have everything in the game. God rolls on an uncountable number of guns. What I miss was the feeling I got playing the game on day 1 and chasing legendaries and all the other cool loot. I'm excited to experience that again.

1 ReplyEdited by CookieNiki: 3/5/2017 12:04:38 AMSince the end of year one that Destiny as a whole has been dumbed down. It has progressively abandoned the objective of being a adventure story driven game where players would fight against the threats to human kind and become legends. And that reflects the major problem with Destiny which is that there isn't a full featured story. We are not playing to reach a final climax, to get to a conclusion like Mass Effect Trilogy had, for example. And now that is even more clear when we are told that everything we have done over three years is going to be thrown to the garbage as if never existed. That's not becoming a legend. A legend has a past that carries over from the beginning to the end. It's precisely that past, that continuum, that makes one really feel like a legend. What Destiny became after three years? Sadly it's just a casual game for killing some time, to have some fun without expecting any sense of progression in any relevant story driven events that makes us want to play more. What kept Destiny alive all this years was the excellent gun mechanics and lot's of expectations never fulfilled. It used to be a game that most players were eager to play almost everyday in year one. Since then it basically turned into a way of killing time when one has nothing better to play. It's really sad to see so much potential wasted and unfortunately I don't expect things to radically improve in Destiny 2.

2 RepliesI took a dump last year and never got to carry it over to this year. Pretty much the same thing as Destiny, right?

Removing all the weapons from the game and starting over will fix so many problems that have plagued the game in the past. At one point an entire change to special ammo economy had to be made soley because of icebreaker. Many exotics are so broken and poorly designed that the only way to fix it is to remove them entirely. Plus, do you really want to use the same gun year after year? Sounds rather boring. I stopped playing destiny seriously about a year ago because when new weapons were released I tended to just think, "well none of these weapons seem better than what I already have so why bother getting them?" And legendaries are no better. Every weapon has 2 or 3 other weapons that are nearly identical save looks. So in reality there are only maybe 20 legendary primaries. High RoF pulses, low RoF pulses, bullet hoses, etc. Removing all current weapons would give Bungie much more freedom to design new weapon archetypes, perhaps even new weapon types. If they were stuck with all current weapons they'd have to consider how new weapons stack up to existing ones and would limit they're ability.
-
Lol who doesn't want to start over. This game is getting boring af
-
Very happy, since I never got the only two weapons I really wanted Necrocasm and Doctrine of Passing. I f I can't have them, then no one should have them. I do hope I get to take my Blind Perdition to D2.
-
I wont be buying Dest2. Bungie mechanics are just junk. Havent played in a while so I play some iron banner tonight and 3 times in one match point blank shotgun blast dont damage. Titanfall2 has none of these mechanical issues. Games arent fun when they dont function.
-
So let me get this straight, Bungie says you won't lose your favorite exotics, we do (TDB, TTK, RoI) and it's totally fine. Bungie says that HoW was going to have a raid. It doesn't, but it's fine. Bungie says your character will transfer over, and it does, but it isn't fine because you want to have an unfair advantage. Seems legit.

8 RepliesAre you actually upset we are starting over? Are you aware of how much opportunity that gives our developers as far as lore and unique gear goes or how much more incentive it gives us players to play?
-
2 RepliesOh my god mate...let it go...that was 3 years ago. Have you NEVER changed your mind about something after a period of reflection ?
-
Quick fact check. You realize they didn't lie right? They said you're GUARDIAN will carry over, which it does. No where does it say weapons and armours will carry over. So, thank you for telling us the truth Bungie, I'm glad our Guardians get to carry over. Sincerely, TheSpookySky

7 RepliesDid you really expect to keep your stuff?

To the good people of the internet who are so in love with everything they've accomplished in a video game, can you not see, it's really nothing but time lost? The way everyone grabs snippits of info from the past and holds every mistep ever, over the heads of people just trying to entertain and provide for you, is horrendous. Do you treat your loved ones this way? Every little trip up, triffle or not, is lorded over them years later? You know this is abuse, right? The fact that you're calling it lies and trickery is just another level of the same mental process that breaks people up for good. It's unhealthy and obsessive. This is the exact same behaviors found in horribly abusive relationships. Bungie mentioned that not carrying characters forward was a possibility, most of us knew this would be a thing more than a year ago. Whatever the flaws of this iteration of destiny is and why it couldn't live up to the original vision are clearly tied together tightly. You can't make progressive change if you're 100% conservative and why would you want to be conservative with a shadow of potential? The old format couldn't bring a lot of people together in a single space, we couldnt check out that mountain in the distance and we don't have the actual reason for those shortcomings other than more rampant speculation. Give it a rest, let it go or develop some coping skills, because this is nasty. When your S.O goes out for the evening, do you imagine them cheating on you and then outright accuse them of doing such, with flimsy reasoning to support it? Plus, your character is ugly, even with the fancy gear. I bet you all bitched about your borderlands characters not carrying forward after your million hours of loot farming.
-
Dude, you don't know jack shit about game development. Games change dramatically while being made. Bungie obviously thought it was better to take away our old gear (probably because of a new light level system), so why complain?
-
1 ReplyI'm actually glad they are doing this. Only thing I was hoping you could bring over were emblems, shaders and emotes.
