Well, another great lie from Bungle exposed.
Here in December 2014, bungie goes out of their way to clarify that "100% of your progress will carry over into the sequel".
Better yet, remember when deej said the year 1 guardians will be showing off their emblems to the year 10 guardians?
Hahaha nope.
Feel bad for those who wasted real world money on imaginary items from the eververse, that they can't take into destiny 2? I don't. Typical bungle screwing over the most devoted customers, again, and again.
What makes me mad is the 70+ vault of glass raids I put in to get the praetorian foil. Or how I worked so hard to collect all the raid arbor and weapons, only for it all to be for nothing.

Why the hell should we put time into destiny 2, when we can't bring our hard work into destiny 3?

If they make a commitment to deliver something to their paying customers then they should, period. This is the problem that we have today that is rampant ...NO ETHICAL CAPITALISM... "Greed is God", "Doing the right thing" is dying. It has corrupted everything from simple products like this; to the politicians that make decisions that run the world. What bothers me most is that we as a people have just accepted it as the "norm" like you are seeing with people on these forums. It's just an "in your face FU" that we are all to happy to thank them for, because we either lack ETHICS ourselves or COURAGE to stand up to it. For this reason alone, no matter how great D1 has been or how great D2 will be, I will no longer be a Bungie or Activision customer, because the "grind" or "regrind" didn't bother me... it is a matter of Ethics. Sure there is no guarantee that they will be better at doing things in D2. But I would rather have a fresh start with nothing from the old game, as opposed to a 60 dollar glorified expansion where it is just more of the same. Lots of shit has changed from 2014...remember the now infamous "See that mountain?..."quote? I know it is silly to expect you people to have an open mind about anything...But damn

They are now parsing words and trying to redefine what Bungie meant by "your progress will 100 percent carry over to the sequel"* But, actions speak louder that words.... So, lets set aside the press quotes and focus on what's happening right now. There are at least four threads and over a thousand posts and walls of text in this forum alone about what should 'carry over' into Destiny 2. So, clearly this expectation was not some kind of fabrication. It started some where and was allowed to continue. So, why then did Bungie find it necessary 'only' yesterday to tell us that "...will not carry forward"*...? They could have clarified any previous statements and corrected any misunderstandings years ago. But, they didn't.... Because, just like "No Man's Sky", Bungie wanted and needed people to buy DLCs. And, they used ambiguities and exploited false expectations to make that happen. 1 ReplyWhy would you put work into halo? Or far cry? Or any game for that manner? It's not because of what gear you could get or collect! It's because of the story, the adventure, the tough moments when you come out on top from a minor miracle, make that last minute clutch and save your raid, every moment you spent not just playing a game, but getting to be a hero! What's he point of any game if all we care about is if our gear transfers to the next one? They never did that with any halo game, in fact there was never any gear really to transfer in halo, and no one gave a crap about it then! I'm glad that I can bring my character into the new year, because that brings with it the journey we faced together. Destiny is about becoming legend, not about becoming a hoarder.

7 RepliesIt's okay to be frustrated. But it's not okay to assume you know them. That was their idea back when destiny launched. Clearly a lot of major changes need to happen. and in order for that to happen they can't be held back by old stuff. I don't regret spending money on eververse.

At no point did anybody think whilst spending money on items "oh i can buy this because I will keep it forever and in all the sequels" they bought it to enjoy in destiny 1. 1 ReplyTo be honest I'm actually okay with our weapons and gear not moving to D2. I'm not okay with Bungie lying to us and I spent a lot of time collecting stuff for nothing. I mean sure that was like 3 years ago but there's been a lot more lies than that. They need to be more honest with us instead of constant lies and telling us how to play the game. I'm also very upset on the fact that our Emblems, Shaders, Ships and Sparrows aren't moving forward. I believe all cosmetics should go forward throughout the 10 years especially Emblems. For those wondering the reason I'm okay with our Weapons and Gear not moving forward it's for the possibility that it's going to be better. Maybe the new guns will have attachments, shaders, crafting and reforging. I'd be okay with a positive change that is if it's dramatically better than the way guns work now. Exotics on the other hand it's a real shame but it'll give us something to look forward to and give us the hunt for all exotics again. Also I hope some Exotic Perks become regular perks in the sequel like Slug Rounds in shotguns and the old Solar Flare from Dragon's Breath for Rocket Launchers and their Void and Arc equivalents. It sucks but leaving our stuff behind is necessary, I just hope Bungie allows us to use our Y1 gear in Destiny 1 by the end of it though that way we can enjoy all our gear from all 3 years of Destiny.

Don't forget the " The Taken King" scam with all the exotic gear that was shown before the expansion came out in order to get more pre-orders, and then were given to us a year and a half later. LONG LIVE TO WARFRAME!!!

Companies like Ubisoft will blatantly false advertise their products months before release and yet Bungie is burnt at the stake for an interview and developer comment. Might I remind you that we have almost no info on D2? Consider how freaking imbalanced it would be if your weapons/armor could carry over, and how unfair it would make it for newcomers with no priory history. Even if they implemented something like earning your specific guns back (rolls, stats, etc) there's no telling how much longer that would add to development or how they would make that work in universe. If you're simply talking cosmetics (shaders, emblems, sparrows/horns) until we know more about D2, we can't really even be sure those would carry over properly. Shaders, emblems, sparrows, etc may work completely differently. Hell, weapons and armor might work completely differently. I certainly hope they do.

I mean, you wouldn't honestly think that buying a sequel to pretty much most games these days would have you carry over anything from the previous incarnation? It's made me literally laugh out loud going through all the posts from people who are outraged that they can't take anything with them. I've been gaming for the better part of 25yrs and have not seen all that many games carry over their entire array of gear into a sequel - let alone any at all! What in the hell makes any of you think that this is going to change because you say it should? Quite a lot of you really need to pull your heads out of your arses and stop crying wolf every time Bungie doesn't do something that YOU expect them to do. Grow some balls, eat some concrete and harden the fark up!

Eververse will be in D2 and how about in D2 Amanda and Eva will now start excepting silvers so you could buy legacy items again :D Vanguard and Crucible quar will also have rusty legacy engrams that can be acquired with silvers. See? It is not the end of the world. Silvers = Solutions #throwsmoneyatthescreen
