The sniper gun isn't op. It's the highly skilled person using it that's op.
-
4 RepliesThe only thing op about them is the fact that most people still use them in close quarters. That's what shotguns are for. As I recall they were supposed to change the zoom to where this wasn't viable but all too many times I charge to try and counter and I still get sniped close range. The whole quick scope bs needs to be fixed or something. Other than that no it's not op it's a high calibur rifle and I salute you if I dont notice you half way across the map and I get sniped.

2 RepliesEdited by IceSki117: 7/6/2016 6:28:36 PMI think snipers are OP for one reason. I can shoot them in the face with my scout and they are able to shoot me in the face right after that 99% of the time. Aside from that they are just relied on way to much.
-
Once something is overused people think it's op lol
-
Not op, everything else has just melted into nerf guns
-
1 ReplyI think primary weapons are overwhelmingly underpowered.
-
nah snipers and shotguns are very balanced imo and both have their places in the crucible. if its a close range map: shotgun paired with pulse or scout rifle. if its a long range map: sniper paired with hand cannon or auto rifle.

Edited by Oryx's Slimy Worm: 7/6/2016 10:27:34 PMTheir snipers, that should be self explanatory enough. Their suppose to be powerful and used while staying in a single spot for a long time. But some do need less Aim Assist...
-
I just never seem to run into these dank close range quick scorers like everyone complains about. So I don't think they are OP
-
Snipers aren't just the weapon it's a play style. Just because I'm not patient enough or willing to put that much effort into sniping doesn't mean it's bad or over powered. If you're actually good at this game your play style should be adaptive to the situation. Sometimes you get out gunned it happens it can be any gun. Me dying doesn't make something op lol just well used.
-
Too much aim assist, not enough recoil
-
They have their place in the game but you shouldn't be able to take two shots to the face and still pull off a snipe.

Edited by DeterrentGem27: 7/6/2016 7:02:10 PMReduce the rate of fire dramatically, reduce body shot damage, and increase flinch when headshot. No descoping (sorry children we don't need to completely break another class of weapon), no ammo reduction, just simple, small mechanic changes. There's a reason no one cries about being quick scoped or massacred by the no land beyond and these changes would balance the weapon type while still making it viable for long range encounters.
and the would inadvertently buff the no land... Hurray!
1 ReplyThey're just too easy to use. I'm not sure if it's the aim assist or what but I'm not good at sniping in other games but I am in destiny.
-
But then there is queen breakers bow, which I am now quite fond of after using it in iron banner
-
I dont like seeing special weapons used like primarys but there not op
-
3 RepliesBecause of the way that flinch works, high rate of fire things are the only real counter to snipers, unless you have a scout with explosive rounds/high calibre, butt even then the flinch isn't that great because it's a slow rate of fire, I feel like there should be more counters, for example the mida was once a perfect counter, but then got needed into oblivion.
-
The issue is that Bungie have reduced literally every other weapon class into a pile of shit. Buff other weapons. Buff our mobility. Don't nerf yet ANOTHER weapon class into oblivion because people are good with them. Make OTHER COUNTERS better.
-
They need wayyyy more flinch. This is coming from someone who has pretty much sniped all of destiny. I should not be able to get a OHK while being pelted on the head with a weapon and vice versa.
-
Snipers are not OP. There are two issues that are making them seem that way, though. 1) Latency (lag). Everyone is familiar with being sniped when you clearly are shooting a sniper in the head. It seems it's easy for a sniper to headshot you while being flinched. This is not the case at all. It's lag. From the snipers point of view, you never fired a shot. Lag can also make it appear as if you were shot around a corner, and I'm sure we've all experienced this many times. Solution: Adjust matchmaking settings to lower latency/reduce lag (pure connection based match making). 2) Primary weapons are too weak. Even without lag, snipers can often return fire to win a fight they didn't begin. This is because primary kill times are too slow. Solution: Buff all primary weapons to have a faster kill time, reduce damage falloff, and increase range.
-
Aim assist for snipers shouldn't be more than 20. The ability to insta-kill at long ranges should only be awarded to skilled hands.
-
Not OP. Just over used. I hate getting into a match and i have to run to the other side of the map to see at least 4 or 5 people aiming down sights. Just chillen there, Its so lame and slow.
-
The only aspect of snipers that need changing are when you hit them with a precision shot (from Mida for example), they should de-scope from looking down the sight. Other than that, snipers are a key aspect to the game and should be there. Some people are really good at it, some are average (like myself), and some couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
-
4 RepliesThey are not op they are just used more. Like for example I don't like using shotguns in pvp so I snipe 100% of the time
-
5 RepliesI dont think they're OP, but hear me out. They're just overused. Statistically, most players take a sniper into crucible, and its for good reason--theyre the only special weapon that hasnt had dramatic nerfs. Fusion rifles have, shotguns have, even sidearms, which theres all of like 6 of in the whole game, have gotten nerfed. Imo, they dont need to be brought down at all, but there definitely needs to be some consideration for the other weapons. They dont get as much love.
-
They need way less body shot damage and a lot more flinch.
