I'm glad Bungie removed them. It allows for more variability on usable guns in PVE. What do you think?
Edit#1:
Wow a lot of people have replied to this! Thank you all so much! Also, please remember this is only a video game, no need for harsh words over an opinion :) stay fresh, guardians.
Edit#2
Holy crap!! 300+ replies!! Thanks so much to guys!! Please remember to be nice. A lot of you guys have great ideas to fix this elemental primary issue. One I saw that I really like is the idea for a legendary/exotic drop that Xur could sell or future raid completions, etc. would drop. This drop would allow you to apply an element to a primary weapon of your choice, maybe either exotic or legendary, but would require other materials as well to apply (like exotic shards or legendary marks, glimmer, strange coins, etc.) Each drop would have an equal chance to be each of the 3 elements. For example, if I got an arc application drop, I would apply it to my Doctrine of Passing and let it mow through captains and taken wizards :)

Edited by Dark_Warlock898: 3/2/2016 2:13:40 PMThey should add something called an elemental shard or something that Xur can bring for like 20 Strange Coins and each week he brings like "Void Auto Rifle Shard" or "Arc Scout Rifle Shard" and you can add them to any legendary or exotic kinetic damage primary weapon. That way, there are elemental damage primaries but you aren't restricted to raid guns and can use whatever you're comfortable with
Just realized this is kind of like Edit 2
False, elemental damage adds to the variety. They had 3 weapons that were used more then the others because of their perks not elemental damage. Think about it, elemental damage means nothing in pvp and if embraced better would add a whole extra layer to the mundane weapons we have now. I don't understand how people can actively try to push games in negative directions. Ever since the elemental burn damage nerf nightfalls have been terrible compared to year 1. What was suppose to be a weekly challenge has become boring and each week feels the same. Remember its not just that elemental damage weapons are mostly gone. They also nerfed the damage the player does with elements. Basically making the game even more shallow.
-
I really don't care but it's cool that now you can use more primaries and not be so limited
-
Actually it just means that no one uses their primary if there's a burn. Lots more heavy synth usage, but no real change in weapon diversity.
-
7 RepliesRemoving "right tool for the right job" design and replacing it with "every tool is a hammer, job be dammed" is not variety.
-
Question, how did having a gun with an element take away anyone's option to use something else? Bungie logic, they use this weapon alot, it must be good for this. Let's take away what makes it good. Now they can pick between 20 guns that aren't as good. That's awesome guys, good job adding variety.
-
1 ReplyI think the elemental infusion idea is good and I would love to have it. Would it add variety though? I can see a lot of people just having 3 hung juries each with a different element due to its perks. That being said it could make a weapon you like into a weapon you love.
-
Well thats bullshit what about the supercell lol. Elemental primarys are great for pve. So many weapons like the fate bringer, vision of confluence and paradyths revenge etc i loved those guns. 😂
-
Vision/Fang/Fatebringer/Scholar (Adept) Black Hammer/Found Verdict Gjallarhorn
everyday pve loadout
4 RepliesYoure stupid if you think there is more variety without them. They took them out to increase the bs grind.
-
1 ReplyBiased phrasing.
-
I just end up using zhalo, stillpiercer and raid mg to be ready for anything aha
-
I'm not sure how it brings more variety, could you elaborate?
-
Honestly I used a greater variety of guns in year one. I barely switch guns now due to light level. Kind of depressing if you ask me.
-
I used a greater variety in y1 PVE. Fatebringer, VoC, Fang or Word according to what I was doing. Now it's Hung Jury for everything PVE except sisters and oryx because that is my highest light primary. Good job guys.
-
Bungie killed variability and now we just settle for whatever is highest and infuse the rest haha. HoW had something good going with etheric light, since it made EVERYTHING relevant again. Now we just get the same stuff over and over and over. Elemental primaries need to come back tbfh
-
Need an appliable item that you can permanent add a burn to a weapon primary so you could say a gunsmith weapon you love then you eithier a arc, void, or solar item that is obtained from some fair means maybe dismantle 10 weapons with that burn or something
-
I still use Fatebringer for arc burn nightfalls.
-
I'm sure it's been said before but it seems biased. If they just added more elementals in game or had a consumable to change your element damage this wouldn't be much of a problem. On arc burn I could choose between fang fate and oversold (thanks etheric light) now? What ever my highest light is. Or zhalo. Void I could choose between atheon and word. Now what ever my highest light. I didn't have any solar primaries and I'm just going by what I had Sooo any number of my highest light. Compared to now where I have 1 highest light due to min/maxing because of double rng. They took out elemental primaries but left match game where only a susanoo works. Usually when someone wants to add variety they give a bonus for mixing it up, or just add more stuff. Bungie did neither. But that's my 2 cents. The fix for the guns have been stated multiple times by other users so I don't want to copy them :)
-
I hardly ever pay attention to elemental burn anyway, so I don't care. Unless the Nightfall has a burn, it's basically irrelevant anyway. Are you going to change your weapon every time an enemy with a different shield shows up?
-
They took em out because shielded enemies didn't become a threat anymore. That's one thing they broke in pve. A shielded enemy is suppost to be a problem, something you need to worry about. Having an arc hand cannon in a fallen themed level makes captains a joke and that's not what bungie wants. That's my theory. You may disagree and if you do id like to hear your theory

1 ReplyEdited by Cronder: 2/29/2016 4:38:37 PMHonestly want some kind of infusable elemental that can be applied to primaries that are possible drops from the nightfall alone to give it an actual purpose
-
in honestly why would you care about variability in PVE?
-
All i seem to use now is my Hawksaw for pretty much anything. Except maybe NTTE for juggler nightfalls.
-
2 RepliesThe best way they can bring them back is with Elemental Infusions where we can give any of our primary weapons that isn't exotic an elemental burn. That way we can have our elemental primaries and still have variability.
-
5 RepliesMy weapon choice for PvE in Y1 was more diverse.
