Failure? How long has this game been out and people are still playing it. May not be in the millions but many still play everyday.

8 Replies1. Trying too hard to be original (so lacking substance) 2. Building a new game engine from scratch that has glaring limitations 3. Scrapping original story shortly before launch and releasing a Frankenstein 4. Having an estimation of how they believe the game should be played without adequate testing 5. Bloated loot tables making every firefight a roll of the dice 6. Unnecessary weapon nerfs, not because the weapon didn't work the way it was originally intended, but because it was too op in either PvE and/or PvP 7. Inadequate game testing, leading to strange and interesting glitches or massive progression exploits 8. Horrible communication with audience. Outright lies, ignored complaints, and even poorly veiled insults 9. Utter lack of content 10. Devalued content. New players playing TTK got to skip EVERYTHING before it. You just cut off 3/4 of your game to new players, and older players who did not purchase TTK (maybe) yet. Honestly, I could keep going, but I won't. Been playing Warframe instead. 1. I can adjust my ping settings and choose my region so public matchmaking is [i]never[/i] a problem. 2. Gear/weapons acts slightly differently in PvP than in PvE, so changes to one doesn't ruin the other. 3. There are specific drop tables for each mission meaning I can play the missions I want to for the specific drop I am looking for. 4. Frequent updates and fixes with detailed notes and content. 5. Massive selection of weapons and weapon types. 6. Explore the whole solar system, from planets to their specific moons 7. Clans/Dojos, alliances 8. One of the best game forums, bar none. Moderators come online to play with the players, respond quickly to issues and bring it to the dev for really quick fixes, and they do weekly stream events to keep the community engaged. 9. The game is free to play, but not pay to win. Almost anything you can pay for to get immediate access has a free way to achieve without paying a dime. Purchased with cash items still need to be leveled, and thus paying cash is for cosmetics or convenience. 10. An honestly mindbogglingly ridiculous amount of content: lots of mission types, of which the objectives can change on the fly, challenge modes with specialty challenge rewards. Destiny is a premium AAA game. Year 1 players spent about $150. If you spent that in Warframe, I couldn't explain how ridiculous the return on your investment would be... I think all the Destiny players have buyers remorse

1 ReplyBungie set up an unrealistic expectation with the content schedule of year one that did not carry on into year two. They kept touting their "10year plan" as if it were a plentiful harvest of content to keep their "living world" engaging and immersive.

1 ReplyGoing back to the very beginning? The decision to cut content, even after 3 dlcs there is still content from the 2013 e3 demo that we haven't seen. Micro transactions have -blam!-ed it up pretty badly too, Bungie and activision know that they can put next to no effort in and make a fortune. Let's be honest would you put weeks of your time into creating new storylines and raids if you could make the same money bringing out a few emotes?

Lack of polish. They had the sales plan but, the game was too flimsy for many to continue to take seriously.

They kept chipping away at the fun things we liked, and replaced every chip with BS. Weaker guardians, boring weapons, less content than we had, double RNG just to name a few reasons. You guys know the rest.

Lead executives and head management. They're the ones who drove two of Bungie's lead devs away and made them remake the story. Everything is on them.
