Will year one exotics still drop after Taken King?

Just curious as it's kind of a conundrum really. If they do drop then people are gonna be annoyed when they're hunting for endgame gear and instead get trophy items that will be useless for that purpose. However if they don't drop then what about the completionists who want to have everything in their exotic blueprints or people who get destiny for the first time with TTK and want to see what the old weapons are like. Curious to see what the solution is here.

  • I believe year one activities will drop year one exotics. I'm not sure if they will also drop year two items. But I'm pretty sure I read someone year two activities will only drop year two exotics. Also they fixed rng to better for your items. So if you already have an item, it's less likely you'll get another one

    • Your best bet is to do the year one end game activities, such as VOG or CE (post Templar chest, Atheon, Deathsinger, Crota). Those will not be dropping year 2 items from what I understand. XUR is also selling what is being called legacy exotic engrams. I wouldn't count on those having the Vex or Necro, but they will drop only year 1 weapons or armor depending on the engram purchased.

    • To me it seems as it's a ten year project your not going to get end game gear for a good while.
