What needs to change about police?
Politeness aside, you would be a fool to think police in this country don't need reform.
You all have opinions on this, discuss what needs to change.

Its not fixable, you can't give humans power over ither humans without that power being abused. Best you can do is put in as much independent oversight as possible but abuses won't stop. Body cameras wont help as much as people think. When a cop is wronged it will get them out of it, when they do something wrong it will magically get lost ir erased.

Police don't need to change, people just need to stop being stupid. If you're going to come at a police officer, prepare for the consequences. They are trained to kill, so if they see you as a threat they're not just gonna welcome you with hugs and kisses. These people have families that they have to come home to just like anyone else.

Cameras. Cameras everywhere. Although I do believe a few good cops still exist.. there are still crooked cops.

They are such cowards. They took the job and knew the dangers. Yet they freak out and shoot everything that could give them a scratch.

They need to stop being a revenue collection agency and stop some crime. Not just when they stumble across it. Solely a money grab now. At least in the tri state area.

Nothing. Don't fall for the media constantly showcasing the few police failings like there's an epidemic.

They're much too lax. Criminals are being cared for, when they should be decomposing in some reclusive field.

On the whole? Nothing. Though I personally would implement much more rigorous psych testing and firearms testing overall.
