Although this is true, the chances of this happening should be slim, and slim in such way that people complaining of similar situations should be an exception, but instead, this seems to be common thing, people getting the same drops but missing others. For instance, consider this, he run the raid 6 times and got 4 and 2 of the same, out of 5 possible weapons (not counting that there is a possibility he wont get any weapons). Now you get a coin, flip it 6 times and stop once you get 6 faces... you will be there for a while, and that's only considering 2 outcomes. Try it with dices, of course result will repeat but to an extend. Also, he is not complaining of RNG as such, he is saying that, bungie was supposed to implement a system that will prevent you from getting the same drops, but this is not working, however, I am yet to see how do they do this and what do they mean by "takes into account previous drops"... I dont believe in RNG, I believe that bungie are smart enough to create a loot system that although it does have some randomness it is not purely random and some weapons have more chance to drop on specific players than others. This keeps some players hooked up, specially if they weapon they want is the one with less "weight". If you are lucky enough that this weapon/s is something you dont care then you will be fine, but if it is something you long for, you will keep playing until it drops!

 • You get my point. I still lack the sniper and the rocket launcher. I already got the other weapons several times, which isn't that bad because I get energies from them though. At this point I even like the loot system of VoG more than the one in CE. You see, in VoG the drops were random at each encounter. Sometimes somebody got lucky and got full gear in one run bit that was more the exception. Now in CE they said that the system is better and smarter, but right now I'd prefer a completely random sytem over the one we have. My point is, that the time a raid is going to be played is limited. So it should be possible to get each piece of gear before the next DLC, not to max, just getting it. And considering that I have 2 characters with which I run the raid twice a week and I only left out two times or so, I think that it should be nore than just possible to get all weapons in a short period of time. Again, I'm fine with all I got, I just get upset when Bungie says that this system now is better than the old one.

 • I can understand, dont worry, my post had complex words as well as "something" and "randomness", too complicated. Just stick to comics and 2 phrases.

 • its not that these sort of events are happening alot, its just that we NOTICE when these sort of things happen, as opposed to noticing all of the times it DOESNT happen. consider how many times you've gotten an exotic back-to-back. now consider how many times you got a different exotic from the previous and the later. the later scenario happens alot, and we dont pay attention to it because that is what we think should happen and expect to happen. the first, however, is thought to be "improbable and therefore impossible," therefore, when it does happen, we remember it happening. and then there's the fact that people would take the time to report on the improbable instances, as opposed to the more probable, and therefore typical, moments, such as a legendary engram decrypting into a Plan C, or a spine of young ahamkara. nobody really cares. now as for the coin/dice thing, like I said, it IS highly improbable, but that does NOT mean IMPOSSIBLE. if you can not get that, then you literally cannot understand the nature of random. now as for Bungies "smart loot system", i think they meant the get glowhoo then get crux, but not glowhoo again. I dont know for sure, nobodies really concerned about the hard mode end results, so there isnt in-depth analysis of its loot. I dunno. finally, RNG doesnt care if you believe in it or not, its there. nor does it care, nor can it know, what players want, have gotten, or will get, its random! indiscriminate. the whole karrot on a stick theory is just paranoia theory.

 • Sorry but if it was highly improvable you wouldnt have so many people here saying the same thing. As I said, try it yourself, roll a dice 6 times, until you get 4 + 2 rolls with the same outcome. This is not somethign that happens to a couple of people, this happens to most of us if not all. For instance, ran the nf three times, three separate weeks, got the same fusion rifle, now, there are probably more than 100 different possibilities (this is just a "random" made up number, although 100 is not technically random as there are more chances of me choosing 100 than 97 or 102 but thats another thing), so let's say over 100 different possibilities, thats including exotics, legendary weapons etc. Now, what are the probabilities of getting the SAME weapon 3 times in a row out of more than 100 possible outcomes? And before you answer yes, it is possible but very very rare, and when I mean rare, to a point that it should be an exception, but it clrearly isnt, I have seen people getting 8 WoC in a row on their first 8 attempts, what are the chances or that if it was random? Also, he is not perceiving this he has clearly said, I got 4 plus 2, he is not saying, I think I got this and this which then could turn out to be false, he has told us what he got Also, dont go around saying "if you cannot get that then you literally cannot understand the nature of random", it is obvious that you are the one who misunderstood, so dont go around saying things like that, specially when you didnt even understand the "nature" of the email which had nothing to do with your answer.

 • Please don't tell me that the fusion rifle was The Trolley Problem. Exactly the same happened to me 2 weeks ago. Three NFs and three times I got The Trolley Problem.

 • your considering a TINY set of results out of MILLIONS plus instances of occurances. how many people play Destiny? hundreds of thousands, even millions at one point, no? when you say you've seen alot of people get improbabilities your talking about hundreds, at most. 100 out of 1,000,000 is 0.0001 of total occurances. so your telling me that 0.0001 is alot? like I said, its not alot, by any stretch, its just that YOUR paying attention to these results, making you THINK that these results are more significant than they really are. someone mentioned something before about RNG and peoples ideas about it, something about Gamblers phalacy; people tend to think that because they got a result of something, the next instance they are less likely to get the same result, which is wrong. every time you roll the die, you have the same chances of getting the 6 different results again every time, regardless of what the result was before. random is random, and ANY possible result is not strange, odd, nor surprising.

 • Where do you come up with those numbers? Source? Have you considered that of those made up 1.000.000 how many are in this forum, how many of those have posted recently, how many of those are having the problem but they just dont want or feel like posting, etc etc etc Remember, he is saying I got 4 of this and 2 of those. That is not perception, that is a fact. Perception would be if he couldn't confirm the number of drops. Can you really not get that? now if he was hiding data that will be a different thing but in this case he isnt (unless he is not telling the truth).
every time you roll the die, you have the same chances of getting the 6 different results again every time, regardless of what the result was before.
True to some extent, like I said, of course there is a possibility of getting the same number over an over, but this is not what he is complaining of, I am not sure if you dont want to understand this or you are just well... I really dont want to say it. He is complaining or querying that bungie was suppose to introduce a system that will take into account previous drops, and to his understanding, this is not happening or at least, he doesnt undestand how this works, instead, you reply that this is all RNG and that this is not true, which bungie have already said it does consider previous drops... (but I believe this only applies to certain items, can't confirm which ones) I dont know. You believe it is RNG, I dont believe it is that simple. And I am basing this on experience, from people I play with etc. Not made up numbers. Bungie use to say that Xur was RNG, and the same for the nightfall, then this guy megaman appeared and was able to predict everything... technically impossible if it was true RNG. Also, it is impossible to "code" RNG, to do this you will need to apply an algoritm, which already makes RNG false as there is no way to code random events. In my opinion, RNG is a way for Bungie to stop people from moaning, but there is much more in this RNG and the way it is cover than just a simple random generation, why wouldnt they do it, I would.

 • the numbers are hypothetical, never tried to pass them off as factual. what im saying about perception is that we are NOT able to see all of the impiricle data, instead we are only seeing what is getting reported, and even of that we are still only focusing on certain specific results, therefore we are being biased. THAT is what im saying. we're ONLY focusing on the small instances improbable events occur, skewing our overall perception of the results. that die roll you said, and how many times we need to roll it to get, say, the same result 6 times in a row. if YOU conducted that experiment YOU could possibly get it in one go. if I conducted that experiment then I could take 500 rolles to get it. what your saying about the loot rolles here and now is like comparing our 2 instances of the experiment and concluding that it takes an average of 250 rolles to get the same result 6 times in a row, 250 being the average between the 2 results. that is wrong. the odds are the same and always will be the same regardless. if there are 1,000,000 unique players (hypothetically) not all of them go to the forums, and even less of those would post on the forums, and then out of them only a smaller fraction would get the results your saying. and of course some of THOSE results could be wrong based on poor memory, exaggeration, or deceit. did you notice how many times that initial 1,000,000 got divided? what im saying is the numbers your saying your going by are impirically sheet because of multiple biases and lack of complete scope. the odds of it happening are astronomically small, yes, but how many players are there? how many chances of exotics/whatever are there? how many times do we do these things? alooooooooooooooot. I gaurantee you that if you did in fact look up exactly how many people posted about such instances happening (improbable loot drops) and then doubled the result, it would amass to hundreds only, likely barely scratching the thousands tops. 1,000 out of 1,000,000 is only 0.001, which is still, hypothetically, an insignificant fraction. like I said, biased views. look at what he posted, I dont think its RNG cuz I got IB after buying IB. hes putting far too much weight into coincidance. how many exotics are in the game? a couple dozen, so your fairly likely to get the same ones back-to-back. its not a 0.001 chance either, more like 5%, I dunno, not checking exact numbers here but I know I dont need to. YOUR just putting too much weight on these improbable results. thats all. when you say "I've seen it happen alot" well THAT is also RNG. you just happened to be the guy that noticed alot of the occurances. what about the people that have never seen that happen? the world does not cease to be when you close your eyes, and this happening is'nt as impossible as you think. finally, you said you believe its not RNG. so what, theres an employee out there deciding to troll you? there's an algorithm that actually awards items? theres plenty of evidence to the contrary on either. believe what you want but the random nature of the loot is there regardless. p.s. "smart system" is never actually, just look at "smart" phones and their auto-fill texts.

 • I don't thing it's coincidence when I get or buy an exotic and short time after I get the same exotic over and over again. A guy I regularly do the raid with got 4 Gjallarhorns in about 3 weeks, three from Ir Yut in the raid, but still lacks a lot of other exotics. A colleague from work got Hawkmoon back to back in two consecutive runs on normal. Yesterday again, two runs Crota NM with 3 people, one still lacked the sniper, rocket launcher and fusionrifle, but also had completed far less runs than me. We beat Crota in no-time and what happens? He gets both the sniper and the rocket launcher and I get a measly two shards. I'm happy with what I got until now and saying that the loot system is smarter now isn't particularly false, but it's not smarter for everyone.

 • I agree, the CE loot system doesnt seem particularly better, as far as primary weapon drops go, Ive gotten both abyss defiant and oversoul edict five-fold, while only pulling a single swordbreaker, black hammer and song of Ir Yut. mind you, I have NOT done the raid entirely back-to-back every time I could, but I still have done it a good number of times (attempts, at least, with only like, 4 completions? ugh, mid strat sucks just kill the boomers!!).
