Only Elite Players Earn Red Death
So a few weeks ago I was doing Hard Crotas end and saw my friend regenerate health through this black voodoo magic called red death. I became a man on a mission to EARN this voodoo magic.
I played hard crota and vault of glass and nothing... Sad but true.
A week ago I was doing the vault of glass on hard. We stopped after beating the templar, this guy earned two fatebringer hand cannons for being awesome and dying within 2 minutes of templar fight. My team quits. I decided to host the Gorgon chest with the hopes I drop red death so I can partake in this voodoo magic.
My level 27 friend, who is pure badass, jumps on and the first chest....
....
Red Death.
After three chests and 15 shards and energies later, I found that I probably did not do enough to earn this red death. While he had to turn his playstation on, sign in, select my name and join my game. Some players are so awesome.
I decided I won't Xurn this red death tonight because of course I haven't done enough to earn the right as some players, like my friend has.
What did you guys have to do to earn your red death? I've tried everything. I've taken a trip to Africa and had this witch doctor perform these dark rituals. I've went to the travelling pants of the ya ya sister hood. I even drew a pentagram around my bed when I play with six candles lit.
What must I do?

I think it is all luck. Anyone who has put any time into this game can luck out and recieve this weapon. I don't know if I would say it is earnez because, you know, random loot. I think I might take it easy on Xur from now on because the list of exotics I need is getting shorter, fast and that is part of the fun of playing this game. If I get them all, I might dismantle them again to hunt them.

My way of getting it is ridiculous. When Xur sold it I bought it, as it was the last exotic weapon I needed. I felt happy. Last Saturday my friend had an exotic chest save as I hadn't done VoG that week. On my last character I got Red Death. I thought to myself "Really? Can't complain though to be honest". Then yesterday I soloed Crota's End on normal from the beginning up to Crota. After doing the Deathsinger I GOT IT AGIAN. Ridiculous.
