The sword runner that kills Crota should be rewarded
Why is it that if you are the player that kills crota with the sword you do not get a special emblem or shader for doing so. That role is not easily done and honestly can only be preformed by a select few. Reward us please. Destiny seems to reward noobs more for background fighting rather then the hardcores that know the game in and out. It will give gjallahorn to a fresh level 27 first nightfall but make me wait three to four months before giving me mine. Not complaining that i have one just dont think the reward system is fine tuned. Hence the crucible reward system

You can whine and complain all you want but we all have to go through the same shitty reward system. Sometimes it goes the way you said and other times it doesn't. Because it is COMPLETELY RANDOM. As for your sword bearer idea: No. Like other people have said it might cause fighting. Plus, it's a team effort. Now, I know people can solo crota (maybe that could reward something special) but that is not my point. The sword bearer has his/her role and everyone else has their own so why should the sword bearer be treated differently?

Someone can only consider themselves a skilled Swordbearer if they know how to start attacking Crota instantly and have gotten him in 2 swords or below half in 1

The only time I've been sword bearer the group stuffed up saying he was going down (when I knew 3 rockets wasn't enough) but got yelled at saying I was going to be "too slow", so I jumped up when the last rocket was shot and died. (Yep CROTA DIDNT GO DOWN >:( Yes, this was when we were learning about the Crota fight, but hey. I've never held the sword again... [spoiler]*cri every tim*[/spoiler] Also I believe this would make it a fight between groups over "who's the sword bearer".. Not much fun :/

3 Replies1. Swordbearing is not difficult 2. People who think it's difficult just doesn't know how to do it or has never done it 3. Rewards are RNG-based. If you're smart enough to do sword, then you should be smart enough to not make this an argument 4. I've only seen the crux drop from swordbearer (1 for me when I sworded Scrota) if that helps you sleep at night

2 RepliesI agree that the sword bearer is pivotal to a successful completion but to suggest they should be given extra rewards for doing so is just stupid. I mean where do you draw the line? Do I get special reward for burning through my stock of heavy ammo synth in order to bring Crota down? The one thing Bungie have made clear from the get go is that teamwork is central to their vision of his game, which is why at each and every given opportunity they try to patch out anything in the game that make it possible to solo activities Case in point - match making on weekly heroics, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that think they deserve extra loot for soloing the weekly HC or nightfall

1 ReplyRisks of sword bearer on hard and normal, added you need a minimum of 3 hits a sword (mostly hard) -you must run out into the open -thralls, boomers, cursed thralls, crota can kill you -if you miss a hit it could and probably will end in a wipe -you could die if boomers turn their attention to you -crota sometimes gets up quicker than normal and if you don't have blink then bye -you have the hardest time getting back to safety once sword disappears Risk of being a CD (crota downer), firing a total of 3 rockets to down crota from a safe place -falling which can be avoided -shooting team mates which can be avoided -pretty much nothing you're out of everything's range So yea the sword bearer isn't a job that makes the others useless but it's the job that carries the most weight

3 RepliesUh running the sword is so easy it's stupid. Esp if you are a hunter. You aren't God if you can run a sword. You aren't any better than the next guy people are just too lazy to learn. Now pay yourself on the back you special little snowflake. And before you respond just know I do sword in 2 runs every time .

This is no different than being the relic holder in VOG. You need a good one but he can't do it without the others. Unless your dropping your sword and gallying him while the others just watch, you are part of a team and should be rewarded as such.

I believe if you are a successful sword guy/lady on your birthday you can eat for free at Denny's. Is that not enough? Geez.

It is easy to run sword but there is a skill in twos a swording crota on hard without orbs. Takes timing but also a good team rocket shot.

Well. As one who kills Crota as the swordbearer on all three classes, I have to disagree. It's super easy. We shouldn't be rewarded differently. That would be dumb. It's just... It's easy.

I believe that only Swordbearers should use the sword of crota emblem.
