This thread was posted before hard mode even came out, was just comparing people's different ways to beat him on normal mode to see what was quickest.
There are plenty of ways to kill Crota on hard mode quicker than just using RT x 3, but most people seem to be more comfortable just doing it this way. If you want to kill him in 2 swords, down him three times.
I'll discontinue this thread because it has been irrelevant since hard mode came out.

I dont use buttons. I get up there with my sword, unzip my pants and pull it out. Crota see's this drops to his knees bowing to someone superior. I then walk over...not run...walk over and drop my nuts on his head killing him at once.

My combo is Slash,Smash,Slash,Smash. If there's no immunes then he's dead in 2 swords without a doubt. Use my combo and credit MWAHHHHH #Virgo'sProSwordbearer

5 RisposteModificato da Bronzey: 2/4/2015 2:26:55 AMI'm know how to use the relic, I've always been the relic holder and I went through many runs with sword, I've beaten Crota on hard 31x 29 as a swordbearer, combo wise... When Crota is going to his knees you can do damage. So as he's going down not when he's down you can smash him 4x, same thing with second down, in total of 8 slams. Brings his health half way. You would know if you made a hit immune if it's a tad higher than half way. Now if you want Crota to almost 1/3 health and one sword you gotta fast, once rockets are gone, you do the combo of "light attack, light attack, heavy" now the heavy won't be a slam it'll become an uppercut which will do the same amount as a slam. So you "light, light, heavy, light, light, heavy, heavy" in one down, seems impossible but it takes practice, so I'm two downs doing the combo without a super will bring his health almost 1/3. I will link video proof of who taught me named "Giggle Monster" he is a Hunter and you can watch the combos in action, sadly I haven't recorded it yet cause I can't record XD but that will change in a week or so. 3 RisposteI played with an MLGer who said the best method in HM was R2 (heavy smash) only because it allowed you to time the enrage correctly (allowing two hits to enrage and two to finish him). Adding in R1 or 'lesser hits' put him into enrage for the last set of hits requiring you to need three (which is dangerous in enrage time). He has three 32's and a dozen HM clears. I will listen him until someone proves otherwise.

1 RispondiUmmmm absolute best is 1 slash followed by 4 heavys EVERY down. 4 downs and your done... If you talking supers tho... Then I recommend Super, heavy, super, heavy, super, heavy on each down. Take him down 3 times. That's a 1 sword kill. Or I personally like to do slash, heavy, heavy, heavy... 4 times and in the 5th do 4 heavys... That enrage shit isn't a problem.

3 RisposteI run sword a lot and all I simply do is 1st Sword: RTx4 then they take him down again, RTx3. 2nd Sword: RTx4 then they take him down again, RTx3. Kill Ogres, 3rd Sword: RTx2 then he enrages, then finish him off with RTx2 after they take him down during over soul.

I did four slams with my group to beat crota. We used three swords and for us it was our best strategy. Each group though and sword bearer should tests different ways. We developed good enough timing and i was able to get four sword slams.

Or you can just down him in 1.5 swords with 4 RTS each time and not worry about it...

I just do 13 heavy hits over two swords then finish on the third. Its the safest way to get it done.

In a pug group on hard, I've found that more often than not good swordbearers feel the need to push him as far and hard as he can without thinking about strike numbers. This is only on hard, and only what works best for me. RT 3x, two times per sword is the perfect amount to kill him in 3 swords (2 downs each sword). More often than not the SB will try and hit him 4 times and die to a smash or laser or boomer. When he does get him 4 times he throws the number off. Enraging him early causes group panic. Not knowing when the enrage happens causes group panic. If people know the enrage is coming after the first down of the third sword, they're prepared to bring him down the final time.
