Is Anybody Else Pissed About The New Currency?
Vanguard/Crucible Commendations seem like unnecessary roadblocks that are there to simply stop players from reaching level 30 too fast, and invest even more time in the game. I could understand if Gear and Weapons required EITHER a Commendation or certain amount of Marks, but no. It requires BOTH. It takes at least one and a half to two weeks for a casual to rank up, so that's maybe 1 piece of armor per week or 2. I don't know about you guys, but I despise this system.
Edit 1: Whoa, 800 replies. It seems like the community is split on this one. I'm still not all for the idea. As I said, if weapons/armor required marks OR a commendation, I'd be fine. But it requires both (from what I understand).

4 RisposteI'm 90% sure that the new vanguard armor sold from vendors has enough light to get you to level 31, not just 30. Each item has 33 light instead of 30. Huge kick in the face to people who grinded VOG since release to hit 30

I'm pretty sure that armor is level 31 actually. Nightfall and Weekly Heroic strikes get you halfway by themselves, plus maybe 2-3 days of bounties. And honestly, if you can't beat the nightfall and the weekly heroic strike in the course of 1 week, do you really deserve to be level 31?

You know it's much faster to level up Crucible/Vanguard than it is to level up the Cryptarch now. And the Weekly/Nightfall rewards you with a major boost to your Vanguard reputation and Radiant Light further boosts rep gained from bounties and patrol missions. So I don't mind this change, after all, it is for gear that will be putting you past 30.

I don't understand why the light level needed to go up. What was wrong with 30 being the max? Just add new routes to get there with the new raid armor and exotic armor. What Bungie is doing just seems adding artificial grind.

Well jokes on bungie I'm 200 rep away from ranking up and I have 155 vanguard marks looks like I'll be getting my 30 light helm tomorrow and be getting to level 30 by the end of the day

The way I see it is they are giving you the opportunity to get to 30 without raiding. Therefore you should work as hard as others have worked doing the raids each week to reach that level. Why should they make it easy on everyone who has not raided to get to 30? The raids should be stepping stones into further progress but bungie is giving everyone the chance to skip VOG all together.

I got a lot of shards and energy, now we have a new raid that will make me get new shards because they have a different name on it.

It provides alternates. If you are a handcannon user but your raid gear assists pulse rifles than you were out of luck if you wanted to be top level. With this they can provide alternates that we can choose instead of getting frustrated with the fifth chestpiece drop we get that does not have the perk we want. And although unannounced, it is possible tomorrow we will find faction gear that will be comparable with raid gear which many people want. But by making it require a commendation and marks, they slow down the acquisition rate to one comparable to raid drops but more constant. This allows for variety but keeps pacing somewhat the same. It also allows lower levels without top level friends the ability to rank up and be accepted by those top tiers who will not let them raid.

People should of known better. Do you think that Bungie is going to give those that grind a hand out for grinding? I'm a grinder but even I know that every paying customer has a right to get to 30 which brings up my next point.... If you paid for a DLC, and couldn't play it because you're not a 30, would you be pissed? I know I would. Bungie has to adhere to every player. If you have put in work towards the Destiny grind, good for you. I have too. Doesn't mean we deserve extra for it. Now let's go kill Crota.

Is this your first MMO style game? New currencies are commonplace in games like this. Never expect that when DLC or new stuff comes out for anyone to instantly be able to get something new. This is why there are new currencies, It's why exotics need to be releveled. Some work/effort must be done to proceed. It's how games like these work.

When most people heard about the commendations, we experienced up our factions till right before they gain a level. I have 3 characters, each with 2-3 factions about to increase a level. A couple of bounties for each and there's 6-9 commendations within a couple hours.

They're supposed to reward you for specific content, which is good, so if you do Dark Below content you get Dark Below currency you can use to get stuff from it. So, I don't understand the hate. "Oh no, I have more ways of getting gear!!!"

The point of the new currency is precisely to slow us down. There is not enough content to keep us busy untill the next DLC if we could just hop in tomorrow and buy the new gear. What would you do next?

2 RisposteLook, they can't just GIVE shit to you people. This is dumb. They needed a something to stop kids from just week after week buying up gear. It's just 1 rank level and you get a new piece of gear. How would you feel if you busted your ass in their broken raid over and over and over to get that one leg piece or helmet you needed. Than BOOM! They come out with an update where you could buy all the gear needed to become something a majority of players had to grind for? Does everyone need to complain constantly? It's a whole new avenue for players to get to 30. You say "roadblock" when this was NEVER an option in the first place. Jeez, just be happy for once you have 2 paths to 30 instead of just one (The raid). Your missing a helmet for 30 you can only get from raid (1 path) or an exotic (second path). Now you can get one from Vangaurd with a little work and absolutely NO LUCK NEEDED. Raid on hard didn't just give you what you wanted even though you worked for it. This path way at least gives you whatever it is you want with a little work. Stop with all the crying already!

This new system now requires more time to achieve X level. I don't have the extra time to do that, so I made a second warlock so I can halfway keep up with all my friends who do have the extra time.
