Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I saw in the latest gameplay video, there seems to be two different melee attacks! The "special" one, that uses Light and deals more damage from bigger distance, and the "normal" one. You can see both in action at the beginning of the video when the hunter throws his knife then stabs the enemy's back; also later the titan is rushing into an enemy kicking him at no Light expense, and then activates his special punch move. Any thoughts? EDIT: Ok let's sum up what I got for every class from the video. Warlock: he's just shown using that Syphon attack, aka the "special" melee with cool down, at 1:10; it is better seen in first-person during the video about warlock gameplay from destinythegame.com, where you can also see the normal melee that is a knife stab. Hunter: uses "special" melee (throws knife) at 1:22 (and 2:20), followed by a normal stab. Titan: uses a shoulder dash at 2:17 and a knee thrust at 4:30 that are likely triggered ending a sprint into an enemy. This is probably something not related to traditional melee, because you can see both normal and special melees in different circumstances: the normal is done at 3:42 when, if you look closely, the titan lands a hit mid-air; then the special is the blasting punch at 4:32, after the knee thrust. My idea is that every guardian has a normal melee depending on the melee weapon equipped, and the special melee depending on the focus selected. While the special is activated with L1/RB, I can't imagine how the normal is. It could be activated with the same button when the special is not available, or by holding down the button as Squizzlor suggested, or maybe with R3 that is the only unused button AFAIK. Finally the titan has the ability to hit foes sprinting into them, which I suppose is a peculiarity of the class/focus. Obviously IMHO, obviously my 2 cents.
