Another Scot then.

2 Risposteso why do they randomly die off and get new faces?

Never heard of Capaldi before now, but if you ask me he has Doctor written all over him. So excited to see him in action.

1 RispondiI haven't seen anything this guy is in, so I can only state my opinion based on what I saw in the interview with him during the reveal special. Positives: Been a Doctor Who fan his whole life, I've read a lot of positive about his acting ability Negatives: David Tennant and Matt Smith brought a young energy/enthusiasm to the show (which I really liked), this guy is older, so I don't know if he'll be able to do that or not. Seems there is a lot of talk online that the series might go more serious now with an older doctor Of course, i'm willing to give this guy a shot. Tennant is definitely my favorite, but Smith really did a great job. I've been watching the "Doctor Who: Revisited" specials, and each doctor was really different each time the actor was changed. You didn't know what to expect. I'm glad the last two doctors have been the way they were, it pretty much the reason I became such a big fan of the show. I don't know how i'll feel if they really change the Doctor's personality. The main producer said this guy was "different from Matt" (the current Doctor), but I hope he's not too different. Either way, there is still the 50th Anniversary Special (which will have the current Doctor and the previous one) and I am so freaking excited for that. And then there is the Christmas special. So, i'll definitely enjoy Matt Smith's last episodes as the Doctor, and i'll be interested in seeing the new Doctor when the series starts again next August.

7 RisposteAnd yet he was already on doctor who and torchwood. Good luck explaining how he was in pompeii.

Capaldi is a good choice for the series. He is older, but still has a lot of energy. I think him being more mature allows the series to be more serious but not dark. Another advantage to him being older gives a lot of room for companions. Instead of the tension between the doctor and the last couple of companions, the series can explore the companions' relationship with other people. Or just the doctor and a young companion exploring without all the romance plots going on.

-Doesn't watch Doctor Who Well this doesn't involve me. *leaves thread*

Why not Gary Oldman?

14 RisposteWe need Robert Downey Jr.

IMO they need to stop sensationalizing doctors. Maybe a show about a time-travelling phlebotomist?
-
Really hoping that they don't completely skip over the Valeyard or give the Doctor more regenerations after Capaldi without explanation. I've heard rumours (and it was said in Sarah Jane Adventures) that he can just keep regenerating now forever, even though plots have hung on the point that Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times (so 13 versions of them, which is where we are up to now with 12 when Hurt is counted).

Oh no! It's happening! D:

I'm glad we have another older Doctor, Chris and Sylvester where older and they where my 2 favourite Doctors.
-
Really good choice, the guy looks like he would both fit the role and put his own spin on it, i was glad it was a scot because David tennant did a great job

5 Risposte:( I was hoping they'd pick a woman. Still, he's a cool actor, and I'm glad they bumped the Doctor's age up a bit.

1 RispondiAll the social justice cultists whining about the fact that he's a white male - keep weeping. Seriously; your tears nourish me.
-
1 RispondiI think the series started to go down hill after David Tenant left.

Nice one. Change is good for TV. :-)
