Imagine killing your main source of income to have peak numbers in low 100ks (console included) and dwindling already for your brand new IP…
No matter how many sponsored posts and videos across all forms of social media will get your player base even close to what your worst expansion had (Renegades)

The problem is Bungie refuses to invest in what keeps games like marathon and destiny alive. Pvp. Apex legends, marvel rivals, arc raiders. Battlefield 6 even overwatch 2 all have higher player counts than marathon and destiny combined. The difference? They are all pvp games. Pvp gives players something to do in content drought. If the pvp is trash then the game is trash 2 weeks after any update, cause u have nothing left. And there are a lot of destiny players that refused to get marathon simply because we have seen how Bungie treats pvp. Why would we invest in a game whose core revolves around pvp lol

Just over a week since Marathon launched and the peak 24 hour player count on steam has fallen by over 30%. Player retention issues after just one week 🤦

2 weeks of absolutely nothing before Guardian Games comes out. They're hoping all the players go play marathon Smh, not I. I'll be playing with my steam deck on some classic PS2 shooters or some neo-geo classics

Lower than that. I think they have some witchcraft going on that if you login to destiny it shows marathon login. Loaded up destiny for the first time in 2 or so years. Now apparently I play marathon according to what is shown that I play.
