I felt like they did a much better job sticking the landing in the finale than I thought they were going to. While there were elements of season 5 I didn’t care for or just thought they could have gone in a better direction with… [spoiler]Basically the whole army side plot was narratively unsatisfying and felt forced. I know it was essential in setting up El’s decision in the end, but the whole thing was ham-fisted and Lt Akers is probably my least favorite side character in the series… an incompetent buffoon who only ever succeeds at things because the plot wants him to. I hate characters like that. The general was so narratively unsatisfying that I’m not even sure what happened to her in the end. They just kind of forgot to close her out as a secondary antagonist or did such a sloppy job showing it that I didn’t realize it happened. Hopper and Nancy straight up iced a bunch of soldiers. Not sure why they were just kind of allowed to leave after El disappeared…? Really felt like they should have been arrested. Vecna was a great villain for season 4. By season 5 he had overstayed his welcome. The mind flayer was introduced early in the series and then… just kind of forgotten about. Until the very end. Happy with the final fight. But the Mindflayer should have been the primary antagonist for the whole season. If they really wanted to use Vecna, he should have been trounced in the mid season finale (everyone thinks they won… nope. That was just a pawn) But that’s just my opinion.[/spoiler] All told I really liked it. Do I think there should have been more casualties? [spoiler]Not really. Usually I’m big on cost but that wasn’t the story being told here. Ultimately this was about relationships and trauma management. The only one I think could have died with narrative effectiveness is Hopper. But we already walked that road earlier. Besides, I liked the subversion of the mother not dying. I would have said Steve, but that would have cheapened his conversation with Dustin about Eddy… anyone else… Robin, Jonathan, Joyce… would have been shock value for it’s own sake.[/spoiler] What about El? [spoiler]She’s alive. She needed to what she did to get out. And I’m glad she didn’t reach out to Mike or Hopper in the closing. I’m also glad we didn’t get definitive proof of where she is. After all, the audience is part of the story too.[/spoiler] What about Mike? [spoiler]Mike is my least favorite major character. I hate everything about him. But he finally used his position to strengthen the group in this season instead of making everything about him. Good job. I don’t hate you anymore. I just dislike you.[/spoiler] Final verdict. I liked it. Season 4 had higher highs, but sooooo much more fluff that… dear god just progress the plot!… but this season told a much tighter story. Would recommend.

Haven't seen Stranger Things, but I know the feeling. That's how I tend to feel about Amphibia on a whole. Most of it is... Fine, but then you hit that season finale and you're like "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!" and then you go to rewatch the old stuff and it's... Fine.

I will remain silent for the time being, consider it a gift.

Felt like they just rushed to finish the series and didnt really know how they wanted it to end. The fight was horrible. The big bad dies in 2 minutes and theres still 1 hour left? Ended up fast forwarding most of the epilogue. Big mind flayer getting stunned by basic bullets, no demogorgons/dogs/bats at all on the way there. Nobody dying was stupid, at the very least Will should have died since he was part of the hivemind, instead they decided to make his gayness a crucial part of his character (blame netflix for that). Hopper shooting Eleven should have actually happened Kali was horrible, glad she got sucked into the void Way too many loose ends for a series finale I know they said it wasnt just a game, but the way things ended just make it seem like it was a game. Military just disappears, the events of the entire show are covered up as an earthquake which makes no sense since majority of the citizens would have seen or heard many of the things that were going down.

Never watched the series. I honestly doubt I will either.

I was actually just thinking of a destiny link… vecna seems almost immortal in the real world… the military didn’t even scratch him when they absolutely unloaded on him… yet he seemed very easy to kill in the abyss… what if that realm was acting as a throne world for him… the only place he can truly die or is vulnerable…
