Hey there, yes, having a Bungie Account deleted also involves a banning of the linked platform accounts, as you've withdrawn your consent for Bungie to manage your personal data. This is surely explained during the process. That's why your Steam account is game banned.
'Bungie Accounts' do not hold any game data, the data is linked to platform accounts, so your Steam account. Bungie Accounts are an umbrella under which multiple platform accounts can be linked for cross-save, and they are also where you redeem things like emblem codes. Since the Steam account has been game banned, then even if you're now able to give it a new Bungie Account, it still can't access the game.
Because your ban was voluntary, so to speak, there is no appeal, there's no way to back out of it now Bungie's followed the personal data obfuscation as they were legally obligated to do. Sorry there's no undo button on this one.
If you wish to play the game, it'd need to be on a new Steam account, or use something else on your PC like Epic Games.

Hi, I have just downloaded Destiny 2 on Epic Games and that is also banned and I guess I won't be able to play destiny again no matter what or bungie games in general this is so infuriating. Why wasn't I informed about the "not being able to unlink" accounts anymore. Wish I had better understanding of this so annoyed one of fave games I that can never play again.

When Bungie deal with a delete request they ban ALL accounts linked to the Bungie profile, not just the primary. I actually post about and someone responded of course but all the info given was essentially what I all ready did but nothing worked for some reason I no idea why. Modificato da Gh0stGam1ng: 12/19/2025 2:11:21 AMI guess it was linked I don't really use epic games in general just you know some games on there are not on steam but like most people steam is best place to go for games I guess well it is for me anyways and I can't delete my steam account either as I have games on there that are connected to steam also like GTA5 for example R* and Steam are linked probably other games to and had the account for years as well as the time and money that's spent. Essentially a lack of knowledge in this particular case. 👻 ✌🏻

Hey there, the change to the unlinking policy has nothing to do with your current issue. If Bungie changed it again tomorrow, you'd still be unable to play on that Steam or that Epic account, they were game banned due to you going through with a full privacy request.

Oh ok I understand now guess I am now screwed and won't ever be able to play destiny or bungie games again To be honest I don't want to make a new steam account as I all ready have one where all my games are where as if I did make a new account I have to again delete this account and sign up a 3rd time to again make a new Bungie account so if I did make a new Steam account to then link my new Steam account to my new 3rd/New bungie account. (if you see what I mean) I all ready tried to re-link steam & epic games of course this account as stated somewhere in the above messages I screwed up because of a poor understanding well thanks you for the help that was given I appreciate it. Seems I am going to have to delete this account completely as all of the above info to much hassle wish things was much simpler but because I am an idiot also for a miss understanding the info that was given. Other than using a different pc gaming platform like Epic games. All other services I never had an issue just wish I known better. I failed to understand technically my fault. Of course I am not happy but now have to deal with the consequence of my poor understanding and should have researched and asked before continuing I did not realise until now the ordeal and continued with the procedure I am so devasted you know the money that I had spent for all of the DLC's etc+. Super upset! To add: I won't be able to play marathon as well now either via steam as I was looking forward to playing it when it releases. All the best! 👻 ✌🏻
