What exactly is locked in the dungeon that you need to do solo?

There is a cool white shader that you can only get by doing the entire thing solo, without leaving the activity.
-
It's a cosmetic. Trying to pity farm by waving a disability around is pathetic.
-
Well I get what you’re saying but rare rewards shouldn’t be handed out like candy.
-
Brother..... hard content exists. Rewards for doing hard content will exist. That's common sense and there is not a single game like this that doesn't follow this philosophy. What you're suggesting. Doesn't exist.

Most game that do this (including Destiny) wisely keep it to cosmetics. Put actual gameplay stuff, especially fun stuff, out of reach of the majority and, especially in loot-based games, they decide it isn't worth starting.

Ultimates in FFXIV for example. Weapons for savage and extremes have best in slot for that content. WOW does the same thing. New game plus for players who 100% a game get the best weapons in the harder versions of the games. Stop lying. This is natural in gaming and people seem to have forgotten that. Mainly tourists that think they know gaming but don't. I don't like to use that word but that's essentially what anyone who complains about common sense are. POE, Diablo, Elder Scrolls, Division 2, Monster Hunter, Warframe, Borderlands, Warhammer, lost arc, etc. Destiny is the only game where I see people complain that others are better than them. They usually stay on their lane or strive to be better. Also people isolate themselves and handicap themselves by not adapting to the game when CLEARY its possible. I don't know why people aren't inspired to take on challenges or stay in their lane. I don't get it. Raid weapons and exotics have existed for the entirety of Destiny's life span. I SERIOUSLY think that the people that think like you and OP never touched any other game in your lives.

I have over a thousand more hours in Warframe than I have in Destiny 2, and I have an unfunny amount in that (and I am missing exactly 2 Exotic weapons and their Catalysts; Whirling and Heirloom; I have every single other Exotic, and their Catalysts, completed).... Plus several thousand in WoW, about a thousand in two Monster Hunters, plus some Elder Scrolls and Borderlands, and a tiny bit of Diablo 4. So no, just off your list, I'm not a 'tourist', and it's clear you're far more interested in baiting a fight than an actual discussion. But for anyone else reading this s***show....: I'm talking about extreme-tier content; stuff that's intentionally beyond the hard-mode. Like Warframe's 60-Eyes or H-09 Apex, or Low-Man Raids in WoW. Or using a mod to turn Skyrim or Borderlands into Ironman-mode. I am not talking about hard-mode raids (Mythic in WoW terms, or Ultimates in FF). So in D2 terms, I'm talking only about Solo/Flawless/both Dungeons, Flawless Raids, and Contest mode. You know what's behind 60-Eyes or the Apex tank? Cosmetics. You know what's behind Ironman in every game I've seen with it as a dev-enabled option (because obviously if it has to be modded in, it gives nothing)? Achievements and maybe titles. Browsing WoW's many, many Instance achievements I cannot find a single low-man achievement, and all of the others (like 'f*** up this mechanic and still win', or 'do all these achievements' meta-achievements) all offer mounts and/or titles (aka cosmetics). And just to continue on with WoW; yes, your stat-sticks drop as loot, but they are stat-sticks. Your actual gameplay, so Skills and Talents, are not locked behiond anything except level and maybe a Class quest. AFAIK FF14 is similar, though you unlock 'jobs' (classes for people not familiar) by levelling up and combining other 'jobs'; but all the loot is still just varieties of stat-stick or cosmetic. Destiny has always had Raid weapons and Exotics. And where do they drop? Oh yeah, from the Normal versions of them. Not the Master, not off some Triumph for making the encounter miserable in some way. What do we get off the Master, and the Triumphs? Cosmetics; and that's perfect. I've sherpa'd my fair share, and helped out on sherpa runs (where I wasn't the sherpa, but was one of those who knew what they were doing to make the thing smoother), and I can pretty confidently say that actually most D2 players have the skills to raid (on Normal, for at least some of the raids), and just lack the community (which is not at all helped by the Community this game is burdened with....). Monster Hunter (specifically Wilds) has done something slightly different; they've gone all in on incredibly low-odds RNG farms, some of which is off harder monsters; plus a colab monster from FF (Omega) that tries to shoehorn MMO mechanics into a pure ARPG, and fails miserably. Savage Omega is about the only thing in the game that even many veterans struggle with (more because of the bad iterations of MMO mechanics than anything else), and the only thing where skill gates you off getting loot (and the loot is not exactly meta; some of the stuff from the base Omega is, but that is an easier fight). But the RNG grind for BiS gear being the only pursuit has lead to a catastrophic player count; yes the PC version has issues, but Wilds is doing badly everywhere, and the decline was slower than an instant "well, game's broke; time to refund". The player counts have minor spikes at content releases (like right now), then flatline again within 2 weeks. But in terms of armours and weapons, which is where skills are, those are still almost entirely available off the base version of every monster, so you can make a full set of Seregios armour and weapons off the base monster, not off the 9*5* coked-up one-shots-the-wrong-builds quest-failing demon (who, for the record, I actually don't have a problem with; Bleed Charm and some Guard Up on my Charge Blade and I can deal with Steve just fine). Gamma sets off Arch-Tempered Apexes exist, but even those aren't horrible fights if you actually build for them (e.g. Adaptation 2 for AT Nu Udra). So your straw-man of my point is 3 straws twisted into a stick-man, with a nugget of horse manure for a head...... And you accuse me of not knowing any game outside of D2.....

Modificato da Sen: 12/19/2025 12:55:26 AMOk. But what I said isn't wrong. Whether it's cosmetic or not, rewards for hard content will exist. Cosmetic or not. What I said still isn't false. Which was my main point. This whole essay is agreeing with my first reply. And please stop being disingenuous. I wasn't talking about low mans, I wasn't talking about special achievements. I'm talking about hard content in general. Regardless, you agreed with me: Hard content will always have rewards behind it. Cosmetic or not. That's a fact. Your anecdotal experience doesn't matter here. And your examples support my claim.
