Why? Who thinks standing in one place waiting for enemies to spawn to throw something at the objective compared to using the WHOLE of the EAZ to hunt down enemies for more loot?
Who thought reusing Lost Sectors and "spicing" them up with Halloween decorations while waiting for "Headless" Knights to spawn compared to the dark eerie silence of clearing branches and slaying bosses?
These events were fun but it's starting to reach a point where the tedious grind overlaps any possible fun. Granted some have fun so good for you! But is it really fun when you grind for hours for a specific weapon only for it to finally drop with the worst roll combination possible due to another weapon being weighted to drop more often? Is it really fun fighting the same few bosses over and over again with no uniqueness compared to a boss that has a unique mechanic to it on top of being unique to the enemy faction? Anyone remember the Fallen Servitor that constantly split into smaller versions of itself?
Even in the Pale Heart. Hours spent only to get a duplicate. Granted I have heard that will be sorted but seriously? That goes for both Ergo Sum and the class items. Thought Destiny was about the loot but seems it's more about taking up as much time as possible.
I'll say it: We may be as strong as ever but still squisher than that Dreg in the EDZ or Cosmodrome. Challenge isn't for everyone and New Lights may find it too much if they jump into the Strike (BG) playlist. Raising the floor was an extremely dumb decision. Why is it that we cannot overlevel? Is it to please those who complain the game isn't hard enough?
Feels like Destiny overall has lost its identity as much as Titans have. What game is it? An MMO? Looter Shooter? RPG? All of them? None of them? Can't call a game an MMO if overleveling is prohibited on top of the servers barely handling more than 6 people in a mission. Can't call it a Looter Shooter if loot is becoming harder to obtain. RPG doesn't work due to the classes blending too much into each other. Figure things out with the game! And please for the love of so many players, stop increasing the grind! Not all of us are on 24/7!
If the game is going to become grindier, the loot must match it. But instead we get less loot drops that have a good chance of not being what we wanted to get. Or like the exotic class items and Ergo Sum: just too mid with far too many duplicate drops. Onslaught and The Coil made the grind feel worth it when chasing weapons. Unless RNG is against you and giving constant duplicates of the weapon you're chasing.
There's no fun in a longer grind if the rewards don't match and/or feels like a slog.

1 RispondiWhy has this post sunk? Still relevant today as it was when DD was unlocked.
-
2 RisposteAgreed with EAZ has become boring. What happened to using the whole map? There's like 5 places the enemies spawn now, it's lame. I mean, free event so whatever, but it's lame.
-
2 RisposteI have no idea when this started and I doubt it started with Destiny. I know Borderlands 2 did a great job of mocking the grind with Claptrap's Secret Stash mission.
Talk to Claptrap Collect 139,377 brown rocks Defeat Ug-Thak, Lord of Skags Pilfer lost staff of Mount Schuler Defeat Destroyer of Worlds Dance, dance, baby Find stash (after Claptrap gives out the above objectives) Strategy Claptrap wants to offer a reward for helping him reach Sanctuary, but first he has a few requests. He will announce five ridiculous objectives, all of which can be disregarded. Once he's done talking, the reward reveals itself across the alley from him. Completion "Claptrap's incompetence granted you access to his secret stash considerably earlier than expected."
Best "mission" ever. :)

2 RisposteDepends on the game really. Monster Hunter the grind is fun and worth it. Destiny just is boring. Borderlands is OK at best. Warframe is meh.

Grind has been content for far too long

Destiny 2 doesn't have a grind that has meaning. The game has been the same since Destiny 1, only it's a lot worse off than Destiny 1 ever was. Most of the loot in Destiny 2 is junk loot and the game is bloated with it. Power doesn't have any meaning because everything scales with you. Season reset your progress. Most of the gear in this game is designed to have garbage states. The artifact was designed to control you. The grind by design to waste a gamer's time has gotten a hell of a lot worse. The balance when it comes to difficulty in this game is all screwed up. Monetization and pushing to promote Eververse has tripled and that money was wasted on other projects instead of being used for Destiny 2 to actually improve the game, and it's a huge part of the reason why all the above took place. This is very poor development, and looking at Destiny 1 it was never this bad, ever other than the RNG, but they didn't double down on it as they did with Destiny 2. The amount of time this developer wastes our money on looking for ways to add all the wrong things in gaming is unbelievable. I have never seen any developer work so hard to make a game miserable for new gamers. Even a lot of the gamers that have been around for a while are dropping off becase it is that bad.
RNG is against you and giving constant duplicates of the weapon you're chasing.
The entire loot system in this game is designed the way it is, is 100% BS when it comes to Destiny 2. At least in year 3 of Destiny 1, the RNG was adjusted in your favor for the gamers. It's still rough, but nowhere near as messed up as it is by design in Destiny 2.

Modificato da TripleF73: 8/10/2024 2:04:53 PM
Thought Destiny was about the loot but seems it's more about taking up as much time as possible.
It’s this point right here. I noped out of the grind for the ridiculous class item when I realised there are 64 possible roles just for one class. So 192 for all three classes. Given the drop rate and the chance of getting duplicates that would take over 912 runs of duel destiny or 303 hours or 12.6 days just playing Duel Destiny. That’s absolutely -blam!--ing ridiculous. And the fact they just removed farming from chest in the pale heart which for many of us was the far more effective option, as how many of us can do 20 min runs of Duel Destiny? Edit:- Btw those figures above are based on 20 min runs of Duel Destiny. For me personally you can add another 10 mins per run on average. So that would mean 18.9 days of farming Duel Destiny. Genuinely you can -blam!- right off Bungie, and you can stick your exotic class item where the sun doesn’t shine. And the more you double down on these stupid decisions the more people you’ll push away. Evidence :- https://youtu.be/6gg9NNjbBIE?si=bveqhIzWdoSg36LF Edit 2:- I’m ranting now so sorry ‘bout that. I haven’t even spent that time (18.9 hours) in the previous three raids before Salvations Edge ( CE + RoN + KF = 13.42 hours) and I have a full set of well rolled armour for each class and all the raid gun patterns for those three raids. And I have the seals for two of them!!!! FFS Bungie I don’t mind a grind but the rewards have to be worth the time invested. And even when you change it, it still won’t be fit for purpose as you never get anything right when we talking about time investment vs rewards.

2 RisposteModificato da Althanash: 8/10/2024 3:17:32 PMDestiny is like Battlestar Galactica.......stripped down and a former shell of itself. The only difference is Galatica can still put on quite a show. Okay okay comparison aside since I've recently become re obsessed with BSG. Destiny and where it is now. Consider this my biased review. Nothing more. The Final Shape Campaign - The narrative was fantastic. Set out well. It filled in some gaps and gave me some answers I was hoping would come. - Gameplay - Here's where it goes from bad to worse. While I enjoyed the narrative.......the gameplay became essentially the same. Prismatic or bust. Do xyz mechanics , rinse and repeat. All Bungie did was take some raid mechanic level designs and start to push it into the lower areas. Then for some absurd reason decided we'll turn everything up to 20 so you barely get one step forward. Now I did play the Campaign on Legendary. Where I expected challenge. I just didn't expect bullet sponges....health gates sure. But a bullet sponge ontop of a lack of versatility? - Overall TFS was a one and done. You'll feel good about it once then never again. Standard for every DLC. Post TFS - Things went from bad to worse. Now I tried I really did try to defend some points that Bungie made......but as time dragged on it's become increasingly clear there was no desire from the Studio to change it's course. Tediousness runs rampant. The fun element is basically gone. If I wanna challenge myself I have these places : Raids , Grandmasters , Solo Dungeons etc. There's more than enough out there. So putting difficulty marks where there didn't need to be.....was absurd. (Here goes with the big contraversy)..... The Exotic Class Item - We all knew ahead of time we'd have to do something to get them. Common theories would be Lost sectors / Nightfalls / Maybe a new Dungeon right? Now before anyone jumps on about "oh just find people". Your point might stand but there should've been a solid alternative to obtaining these. I have A.S.D. (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and while I do make an effort to overcome it. Sometimes it's just not possible. Somedays I wanted to play Destiny 2 by myself an get a few things done without having to be social and it was possible in the past. Sure make the duo mission more lucrative as an incentive......but don't make the drop rate for solo abysmal. The bulk of the community don't raid........and that mission had RAID based symbols for crying out loud. What a great idea right? No of course not. Episodes - This I can keep short and sweet. They took the seasonal model. Lengthened it and continued with the Go to helm - Do thing - Go back to helm - See you next week. Unsustainable long term if you ask me. Events in Destiny - The same old story with a new lick of paint. Solstice. The Dawning. Bungie failed to create something new.....and if they did. It never took because it was the same hamster wheel. This is just a shortened version of everything I've seen. Destiny isn't dead until Bungie pulls the plug........but it feels like it's become a solos / casuals nightmare. An while yes most of this game was once easy. The content that matters......has become so tedious an such a drag. That the juice frankly is no longer worth the squeeze. May D2 rest in peace when it finally croaks. Until then it's going to suffer and writhe like a corpse kept alive by a twisted and deranged Master. (Mr. P.P. )

I love how, in the new campaign, when you are encountering enemies, there is no shelter. You are under constant fire and taking damage. Best to just jump and jump around some more. I'm finding some of the encounter a little "cheap".
-
A grind can be done incredibly well. The problem I have with Destiny is that you achieve getting a weapon, only to find out it's being nerfed / buffed constantly, giving no meaning within the game.
-
What is worst is that after all the grinding, even if you get the weapon you want with the roll you want, they are still usually meh and end up in the vault gathering dust, whilst every patch nerfs the decent weapons in the name of balancing.
-
Because they're not focusing on fun, just padded time to make it look like people are playing a lot
-
1 RispondiDude just don't play anymore. Destiny is a shell of it's former self and that's due to its "live service model" The devs, the people that actually make the game want to make fun engaging games. Unfortunately the bean counters higher up make these calls. Devs have to build games to certain metrics nowadays, fun rarely comes into the conversation. It's purely based around Cost to build Time to build Upkeep Sales and add on sales Player engagement time When you mix these build prerequisites into a mmo, RPG , looter shooter you have the recipe for the perfect storm when it comes to grind. Your banging your head against a wall asking for change, it will never get better, it will only get worse. Do yourself a favor and get back to enjoying gaming by playing single player games

Completely agree

When, we, who are god killers, even killing the thing that made gods can get one-shot my a lowly little scrub and we have to sit around and deal with multiple worthless phases of such scrubs just to take down a minor boss who somehow is more resilient then a couple of gods we've killed. Then wheres the fun noting that the reward is the exact same worthless roll on a weapon we have spent weeks farming for? How is it that strikes or worse Blind Well, which used to be fun to run now suck so bad. Speaking of Blind Well, you just have ZERO desire to deal with final, normal, encounter that you don't even want to run it anymore (strangely the bonus amplified fight is easier)!!!! Remember when they vaulted IO, Titan, Mercury, ect and we all screamed (and rightfully so). Well it feels they are doing the same thing with things like the Blind Well. Make it so no one wants to run it and it will just go away on its own. But it's not our fault this time, they chose not to run it. Uhmmmmmm????
-
Agreed. Bungie is just hell-bent on killing their game.
-
Yeah I told that to people this week and I was getting nothing but hate comments on social media. Like seriously just because 1 person likes to grind mindless grind like they have no life like they live in a mama's basement that does not mean everybody should enjoy it.
-
Been this way since Day 1 in destiny 1. literally no one would play this game if you didnt have to play three months for that one weapon drop want. the grind and false promises are the only reason people play.
-
13 RisposteGuys, quit… really, its not that difficult, I agree with everything, just quit and dont even touch Marathon ever.
-
5 Rispostei’m trying to get myself to slug through TFS campaign on my 3rd character, i’m so sick of repeating the same bullshit on different characters, this entire game needs to be retroactive and replaying should be entirely optional.
-
There are only 2 things going on in this game. One is you grind for an empty and dead game. The other is you throw money at an empty and dead game. That’s it! It’s an absolute disaster. These guys have no talent left at all to make anything. 🤣🤣🤣 It’s laughable in the industry! 🤣🤣🤣 Absolutely nothing here but a shamble mess of shallowness!
-
Nicely put.

Modificato da A_mo: 8/9/2024 1:33:47 PMIf the game is going to have grind it in it could definitely be more straight forward rather than the mmo style "keep them engaged" model. I guess its just really hard to say that the engagement equations aren't what's responsible for people having kept playing the whole time. Although overall Destiny seems to have been a good enough game that you could at least question it. You could always be like me and just focus on the simple stuff like PvP kill counts. But even with something like that if you do it enough some part of your brain is going to realize what it is you're really doing. Either way, that seems to be what some of the recent and upcoming changes are going to be about. More stuff that puts fun before engagement. The Live Service thing has definitely shown that fun and engagement can be two different things.

It's Season of the Worthy all over again.

9 RisposteSo don't grind. Are people really this stupid that they are oblivious to the choices they have?
