Bungie is infamous for micromanaging players' playstyles into bottle neck builds, then complaining when players use them and rolling out random nonsense nerfs. They probably watched YouTube content creators during their paid knitting classes for ideas of which builds to mess with. The variety they claim with builds, gear, and weapons is an illusion and always has been. Also, I've noticed they seem to be pulling the dying game trick of making regular activity npcs bullet sponges. Division 1 and 2 pulled this as well.
