I think barricade is the better option in both PVE and PVP. Simple fact, each sublclass can drop barricade. It gives so much information while casting, even if it gets obliterated in the crouton-cible. Main point: over shield is feeble lasted, and is risk reward. Barricade allows you to get at least a few extra seconds on mental planning. Best case, you close out lanes and change momentum, or pyrotechnics yourself or an ally. Or cap a zone. Animation drop is too slow. I’d take an exotic chest piece that simply let me instantly drop the barricade.
