What's the point of them?
1. I could hardly name one person who genuinely reads what the commendation card actually says.
2. You feel like crap when everyone commends each other because they're in a clan/are friends, and you don't get any, even if you were top of the team.
3. You need these to climb Guardian Ranks, but, as I said, who actually pays attention to giving an Ally the "Ally" commendation. Let's just be honest, it's mostly based on fireteams and drip.
I get vaguely what the system is for, but I just don't see why we need it. Why should we need it to climb Guardian Ranks?
Maybe Commendation Points could exist for rezzing teammates (up to a certain point), or defending teammates in Crucible matches? Things Bungie can choose to measure as your helpfulness. Only time I can see them being player-given is in Guided Game activities.

3 Risposte1. No one asked for Commendations. 2. Few actually read them. 3. Most only do them because they count towards certain objectives. 4. As with everything Bungie, these objectives are WAY too grindy. 5. It makes you wonder how many resources went into this, rather than something people would actually appreciate, like creating PvP content.

1 RispondiThese commemdations are a shady tactic to illicit feelings of self agrandization same as likes on facebook and such. Seems harmless to the untrained mind but the levels of addiction these commendations generate is very sadistic. Speaks volumes of Bungie's lack of moral compass; even by business standards.

7 RisposteI love the commendation system It allows players to give recognition to other players.

I wish they had more versions like : Camper Architect friendly Misadventure Adventurer Yes, I’m putting everyone on my shoulders from the bottom of the leaderboard . Domed again !!!! Allergic to zones Shoot me in the face , I can take it . Maybe this is the time , he won’t be waiting in the lane for me . Domed again, again!!!!!

1 RispondiI have thought the exact same thing since they implemented this commendations mechanic. I understand the idea behind it or more accurately the idea that they initially floated but in execution, they have completely missed the mark. As mentioned above, people will vote for friends, clan mates, and drip (in that exact order) perhaps they will vote for the last person that revived them or avenged their death a split second before the end of the match and half the time it’s probably not even the “correct “ accommodation but the one closest to their cursor. For this reason, the data that Bungie collects is already flawed and would in any business setting be deemed unreliable and therefore for can not be used to determine if a player is “high ranking”. I admire the attempt at balancing of matches so that players have more opportunity to face off against players nearer to their own skill so that the ability is there to learn instead of rezzing and dying instantly (rinse and repeat). A game is meant to entertain and I’m sure the “high level players” would rather face a challenge instead of cannon fodder. Matchmaking is probably the hardest to accomplish because it’s not just about who is in the same league as who but also, who is currently in the queue for matchmaking.

4 RisposteDestiny’s player community is toxic, as can be seen anywhere on these boards. Whiney, entitled and toxic. Good for Bungie for attempting to do something about it, and it’s unsurprising this is the reaction. I like the commendations and take the two seconds it takes to either give them or not.

To make the special snowflakes and princess boys feel like they've actually accomplished something in life.

3 Risposte"making games is hard"
-
3 RisposteIt fits with all the other socio-political BS, it's Destiny's version of a social credit score...
-
If there were denunciations, I would participate
-
2 RisposteIt should never have been a thing fullstop.

There's not much time to give them out. They are somewhat forced due to the weekly quota to give them out. I don't feel bad if I don't get them and you shouldn't. I wish I could link the post, but someone summed it up pretty well with a comment along the lines of I give them out to the person on the left and right of me.
-
Absolutely has 0 value. They say nothing about the player receiving them because everyone hands them out just to get rewards.
-
I usually pick to random ppl, and I leave. We don’t have enough time to take it seriously It’s a loading screen for 15 seconds…. Bungie should of used this time and do something else
-
If you ask me, on paper it’s not a bad idea But I feel as if it needs to be limited to LFG You know- where you would actually need a rating?
-
I just hand them out to meet my quota. Useless, nonsense.
-
Yeah they’re 100% completely pointless.
-
I believe commendations are a precursor to the in-game LFG, and I get why they feel useless now(they kind of are). But the fact that it's tied to progression is a big mistake. Giving/getting commendations should not help get a pinnacle every week or be required to rank up. The point of commendations is to tell other guardians if you are a skilled/good/bad/unskilled player, nothing more. I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but that is mine lol. Please tell me if you think otherwise.
-
Just about as dumb as it gets
-
Imagine the resources that built this pointless system and now the resources that get consumed maintaining and operating it were put on to building actual content.
-
1 RispondiBungie was planning an in-game team finder. The commendations give players a chance to self-police and consequence bad behavior. They were supposed to roll out together, but something apparently happened.
-
The point of them is artificial grind. In my opinion light fall is a very empty expansion I put it on par with the first 2 expansion of d2 (can’t remember the name of them) Bungie know that the content is very thin and lacklustre. So what do they do to pad out the content? They increase difficulty levels on new content so it takes the average player longer to level up and complete certain objectives. Ok so what do they do with the hardcore player that burn through content so quick. They give them guardian ranks to chase. But if they burn through content/challenges so fast, the ranks will be earned fast as well, so they put challenges the rely on pure luck of the draw to complete. It’s a system designed to keep you playing and try to keep people engaged, giving them something to chase because new content levels are so low. I see often the casual blaming the hardcore/streamers and visa versa. The issue is not the players base the issue is bungie. Bungie has lost sight of what the game is. Is it a pve or pvp focused game. Is it a casual or hardcore game etc. etc. They need do draw a clear line in the sand and decide who this game is targeting. If they are not willing to make the hard choices then they need to give the player base more choices and accessibility. Things like . Scalable difficulty on all activities . Matchmaking on all activities . Selectable pvp playlist (more game modes!) Keep top tier rewards/titles for the hardcore so they can flex but give the casual/average player the tools to at least play the activities so they can feel like at very least they time invested is not completely wasted
-
3 RisposteThey don't matter like at all... Guardian ranks don't matter either. It's so darn worthless. I wish they'd remove it or never even put time into such a worthless system.
-
1 RispondiCommendation systems are all the rage in other games. none that I have player ever work the way the dev team thinks they will. In this system you have to receive so many commendations to advance and you have to give so many each week to get a reward. It is a system that is built so that it sustains itself. You are required to receive so many and give so many. So you have zero choice but to give them hoping beyond hope you also receive them. It is a broken mechanic, not just in this game but in every game. You should be able to give a commendation to every player int he match, no mater what team they are on, so in 6 v 6 PVP, you should be able to give 11 commendations. And you should not be limited to giving only one per player. So the best guy in the match may get 6 or 20 commendations, he may also get zero.
-
This system was a waste of time and resources. Nobody wanted it or asked and no one cares about it still.
-
1 RispondiCommendations are a waste of time. Few gamers will want to rank up with them after they are reset every season. Send a message to Bungie by ignoring Commendations and let them die with this season.
