the hate for Nimbus isn’t LGBT bashing…
it’s just recognition of lazy story/character writing.
are there actually people that don’t like them because they’re non-binary? definitely.
is that the reason so MANY people hate them?
not even close. it was just terrible conception & execution. really the entire design of the Cloudstriders in general was.
just, so bad.

Which brings me to the next reason, the timing of his inclusion. Ever since Cayde died, Bungie has desperately been trying to fill the gap left by the comic relief. Even if it means making some characters behave out of character. The problem is with Lightfall being advertised as "The beginning of the end", a comic relief character is not very welcome.
