My friends that rarely play the game manage to get raid exotic drops within 5 runs (including 1 clan mate, that RARELY raids, that’s gotten 3 RNG exotics, each on their first run) but my friend that plays this game hours on end and does 3 full raid runs immediately on reset has yet to get a raid exotic within 25 runs This REALLY makes me feel like there’s some hidden playtime mechanic for RNG, it’s consistent for my clan that the people who play the game less get the RNG exotics the fastest Is it just an unlucky RNG experience? Possibly. But this goes all the way back to Scourge of the Past.

  • People have been speculating about this stuff since 2014. Its not a real thing.

  • There are hidden loot mechanics that work more or less as you describe. Stuff why you always get repeat pinnacle drops on the same slot. Why target farming seems to never get the item you want. Why your friend who barely plays always gets a ton of exotics or the new loot. Bungie knows with their lack of dedicated servers, lack of LFG for end game pve, and lack of quality gameplay and content, people would quit once they get loot. So people who play a lot, get horrible and infrequent drops by design so they keep playing. People who barely log on, get handed good loot regularly so they subconsciously feel rewarded and will hopefully play more and end up buying things, but as they play more the loot dries up. This whole game is built on FOMO, every single aspect of it.
