After roughly 2500 hrs in D2, mostly PvP, I fell in love and took a break for several months. And after coming back and playing recently, just … wow, this is bad.
When I left in early January, I thought they were going to lessen ability usage? It feels like abilities are now more ubiquitous than ever. Nothing but overshields and grenades. Many subclasses seem to have abilities that confer seriously overpowered advantages.
Still getting killed multiple times by the same super, still horrifically mismatched games, and matches seem to be dominated by cheese like Witherhoard and Lorentz driver. Snipers feel borderline incontestable. The once rarely seen bow-to-hand cannon hot swap — which is incredibly irritating and unfun to play against — now seems common.
I’m sure I’ll get some hate for this, and that’s alright. None of this matters very much to me. No matter how good or bad the game is, I will never again invest in Destiny the way I used to. But it is disappointing to see that, if anything, PvP has gotten worse, not better.

The core of D2 pvp problems...is bad matchmaking. Everyone has access to essentially the same kit. Not everyone has the same skill. Forcing dissimilar groups together was always a fools errand. Bungie has periodically tried reducing individual player power since 2014 which gave us D2 vanilla and various metas I might say that is a poor remedy to matchmaking. How much will Bungie sacrifice to protect their privileged "influencers" at the top?

4 RisposteModificato da Mr Jim Lahey: 7/9/2022 12:08:53 AMMy friend hated how everyone had over shield against him 😂 He was a new light, now he’s off destiny for good. He gave it an honest try SBMM would be good for new lights, and yeah I know the sht bucket users will disagree, but whatever

Good post … totally agree PVP is garbage right now … overshields everywhere … ability spam …
-
1 RispondiI simply don’t play pvp unless I have to for a quest or something
-
1 RispondiPvp is fine it’s just sbmm. I can’t play with my brothers because we get put into my lobby’s instead of playing normal average joes. We match kids who never worked a day in their life or made any contact to a female.
-
1 RispondiI just left pvp as well. Much happier playing csgo, valorant, apex and halo.

15 RisposteNo hate. Just a harsh truth. This game's pvp will never be what its most dedicated players want it to be. Its a space-magic game in PVE. Its a power-fantasy, power-progression game in PVE....and Bungie is leaning INTO that aspect of its nature. Which means that PvP can never be the balanced game of shooting-skill that people want it to be, because the tools Bungie is working with are incompatible with that outcome...and Bungie refuses to come clean about it.

1 RispondiModificato da Cal O'Mari: 7/9/2022 2:35:28 PMIt has. I have over 2000 hours myself, and alot of time in Crucible to kill time and get materials. I have to use overshields to even have a shot at getting kills because everybody is using two tap hand cannons, which shouldn't even be a PvP thing. Those are always coupled with something like Eye Of Sol, or Lorentz. I've even been using Lorentz and snipers lately to test them, since they aren't my typical loadout. Snipers are just supremely oppressive. They are one shotting through overshield. Using overshield itself in conjunction with barrier is absolutely zero protection effectiveness, even with 100 defense, but equipping Icefall Mantle, I am taking on groups, with very noticeable resistance changes; but this resistance only seems to apply with Icefall Mantle overshield; and this fully recharges every 35 seconds, so I'm able to effectively activate for most engagements and point captures. I was shooting high chest with Frozen Orbit and getting one shot kills because its either WAY too overpowered, or that whole hit box is like half the scope huge, but its ridiculous. Lorentz is only effective at headshot, but it just wipes everything. It still takes getting used to. The ability spam is egregious to say the least, and I love almost always being able to have overshield with Icefall, but I understand how frustrating that is to go against. Supers are activated more now than ever it feels like, but it doesn't feel much worse than before Witch Queen; the problem was Bungie mentioned less abilities, and it lasted for like a literal month, I think it was. As soon as Witch Queen launched, it was right back to ability spam worse than ever. That whole focus and effort; all that time and money towards ability readjustments, just to toss them out the window. Why even adjust in the first place, at that point? Bungie is either just that incompetent or they're just saying arbitrary things to try to shut people up for a little bit, I have no idea, but they just don't seem to have the slightest grip on the PvP realm, and at this point, its so bad that, in all honesty, I kind of wish they'd just remove the whole PvP side, and focus on making it more of a cooperative MMO. Clearly they have no concept of a proper PvP in the slightest, or they simply just have so much customization potential, that it makes PvP physically impossible to balance, without completely removing all ability customization for PvP. Or both.

7 RisposteLast match I played guy killed me with hammers, so I spawned 20 feet away and got another hammer to the face. How fun.

1 RispondiModificato da Necrogen: 7/10/2022 1:05:30 PMOh wow I remember you around here, hows it going? Yea, it hasnt changed much at all. Players still play like potatosacks because they dont care. Those that do, find metas and off metas and decimate others. Abilities are rampant, yes...we have space magic. Its not CoD or battlefield. This game should never have gotten pvp. Loot based pvp is even worse. People should play pvp for the sheer enjoyment of it, not because they have a shiny new thing. We need the old run n gun from back in the day. Give us rulesets we can tweak to make our own fun. Throw all that loot into PvE.

For some reason I was reading this with a southern accent 🤨

3 RisposteHunters... hunters are pissing me off so much atm.. with classy restoration and worm husk they are god and on top of that dodge drops aim assist so it's hard to punish them for rolling mid gun fight... like and then with there 100 shot golden gun gifting them easy multi kills over and over..
-
Yeah the healing and overshields are a little much, overshields make it so you either need to use a special weapon to win the engagement or rotate away until the advantage is gone. They want more primary fights but then make is disadvantageous to challenge with primary. Bungie said they want to curb ability use and don’t want abilities to solve engagements then come out with overshields, healing grenades with a 30 second cooldown and classy restoration.

It’s hard warming for people to realize what’s been staring them in the face all along.

2 RisposteWitherhoard cheesy? Have you played the new Rift Iron Banner or Trials Labs with the capture zone yet hahaha! You're going to be like "Oh my God, everybody dipped their crutches in nacho cheese and then sprinkled Cheeto dust on them."
-
Jumped in a match in the first iron banner of this season.. Two back to back titan op chained explosive abilities later and I have not touched PvP since. Not my cup of tea anymore.

I haven't run into much of the bow handcannon thing but that's really something that probably shouldn't work the way it does. With opening shot that's two weapons that are almost guaranteed to hit. There's just kind of a mismatch sometimes between the guaranteed stuff and the things like healing that reduce the level of confidence you can have in what you're doing. There's a lot of people that like abilities having a large presence. They complained when they were reduced at the end of season 15 so at least there's less of them that are ohk. The only problem I have with some of them is how they linger on the stage or do other things to slow the game way down and make the stages feel smaller. Witherhoard is funny because you can't complain about it being cheesy but the way people spam it and the fact that it just sits there for so long makes it really annoying. You also can't tell if youre standing in it a lot of the time and its one of those things like low obstacles that's annoying because your fov doesn't always let you see things that you would otherwise know are there. I'm personally on the fence about snipers. When you can move around they don't seem to be as much of a problem but when your ability to get around the stage feels limited by other things they can start to feel oppressive.

Modificato da Dredgen Araphel: 7/8/2022 9:34:59 PMThere isn't ability spam just supportive ones are preferable over lethal ones after all the community cried about lethal and spam so you can't really complain about shields or super regen when we have low ttk weapons and team shotting. Pvp has only one issue and that will always be matchmaking which they seem to never get right. I do well in pvp until it throws bots on my team or force me to fight top 500 6 stacks because I win 1 game so it makes me lose the 2nd or worse, I win the impossible game and be punished for 2.

2 Risposte“…2500 hours…. Mostly pvp….” I think I found your problem.

3 RisposteThe ability spam is very annoying specifically healing abilities. Playing against a hunter with wormhusk, healing nades, and classy restoration is like fighting a raid boss... two abilities which instantly grant restoration and they always have at least one per gunfight which is super boring. Same goes for titans with lorely warlocks in classy restoration stag emp rifts. Snipers basically got a buff from the resilience flinch stuff and hand cannons got an indirect nerf with the in air accuracy nerf which is arguably needed but now no time to explain is the best gun in the game which slows down the pace of things even more.
-
1 RispondiThey decreased the base abilities but not the builds if you don't build into something it can take almost 3-6x the amount it used to but if you build into it nothing has changed

1 Rispondihttps://www.xbox.com/play/media/KZXS592K Just go have fun and everyone gets killed in this game it’s nothing to get upset about 😬 Ive alway run mida and either drang or smg depending on map size with top tree arc. Even through every busted super and really op weapons and friggin stasis, which was the hardest by far to counter. Have you tried drunk weekender pvp?? It’s great you just laugh at how fast you can die and how many times you get stuck on a pebble in games 🤣🤣 Amen 🙏🏼
