Difficulty level is getting beyond the average player base

When the lowest level for a dungeon is that difficult, you are only creating content that a tiny portion of your player base can achieve. Don't get me wrong I love a challenge and that certainly was, but there should probably be a mode that is easier for newer players.

    • Dungeons are advertized as endgame. Endgame = designed for the above average players. Sooo...whats the issue ? I think you didnt played shattered throne when it released x)

      • The most enjoyable endgame content for me has been the shortest raid, and a recent semi dungeon. Crota was a shortish activity you could do without a full fireteam. But it felt good to do. Presage was great, once you learnt how to handle the 3 big fights, it was soloable by an average player. But more fun with friends. Did clowncar first hard one but used wrong character, so redid as a three to get the catalyst. Those two showed that carefull strategy rather than exact button pushing was required. I did solo grasp of avarice until that barrel. I sm am average player.

      • It wasn’t that hard. Solar 3.0 helps you stay alive and coordination with our team helped us clear the final boss easily. The dungeon is great with beautiful scenery and bada$$ weapons. Glaives, swords, and fusion rifles do quick work of the adds

          • No dude it’s usually on and off last time they gave us a easy Af dungeon , now it’s a more difficult, Bungie always does stuff , off and on

            • We get one sort of difficult dungeon and everyone loses their minds. Not everyone wants this game to be patrol simulator thanks.

              • I don’t think its the difficult that’s the problem, it’s the power level requirement/scaling. I hate this cycle bungie has with endgame power requirements, and scaling. Stop saying activities require one level but the last encounter is way above that required level for said content. Not to mention padded out levels, bullet sponge enemies, and immune phase bosses. Ffs switch it up bungie.

                • I generally agree with your post but i think there are a few factors to this that people may be missing, mainly that the difficulty gap in d2, at least for the past 2-3 years has been very inconsistent, most content in d2 is either super easy, to the point where “builds” dont really need to be used because a simple well rolled legendary weapon/weapons will do the trick, but then on the other hand, most of the endgame is flooded with champions and modifiers which while they do add difficulty they also massively restrict your loadout choices to a handfull of weapons/mods all at the mercy of the seasonal artifact, this dungeon, like all dungeons may be an effort to find a middle ground where, while the difficulty seems a little overtuned, people do at least have the option to use whatever they want as far as builds go to find a way to beat it.

                • TBF you’re 13 power levels under the recommended on it. I imagine it’ll be much easier for you once you’re leveled up. Otherwise. Just try to enjoy the challenge I guess.

                    I tried it blind with a no mic team. They quit at Gahlaran. I completed Grasp of Avarice with an LFG team no mic on the first night. Duality is more difficult but its doable with a bit of application to learn it and some patience. I have checked out some guides and think I have a good grasp on the mechanics and feel its doable with no mic. Have to be as I don't have one. I got tired of every activity with one being my team mates shouting over each other all the time. I will be trying Duality a bit later as I want me some of those weapons. Its hard but I want to learn it. To become good at it to the point I can take those who don't know and maybe carry them a bit so they can learn. Its meant to be a challenge, treat it like one. I just hit 50 and fly for a living. By the time I call for take off I have done around 180 checks. From memory. If an old duffer like me can learn this you younger lot should have no problem, with your heightened reaction times and apparent knowledge about everything that makes you right all the time. It just takes a bit of application and actually watching what your team mates are doing and working with each other. That means not deciding what you are going to do and expecting your team mates to do what you want, that goes on way to much in team activities. People don't play as a team. If they did then most activities wouldn't end up with your team mates doing that stupid figure of eight run in front of their team mates. The start of Wellspring defend being a prime example, six players in line is a wall of bullets but instead you get most running around getting in each others way.

                    • I dont think theres a problem in difficulty, i genuinely thought the mechanics were fun and after getting the routine down its kinda straight forward for all bosses, but thats after learning and adapting to the Dungeon for myself. Annoyance comes with tons of adds but with the right build that shouldn't be too terrible to deal with. What i think is an issue is that newer players find it difficult to come across a team willing to teach anything. lets face it, the D2 community aren't really known for their benevolence and generosity towards others... Let alone new lights looking to learn. There needs to be more rewards for players willing to teach with more influence for veteran players to guide new lights. Thats just my take though.

                      • This one is far more difficult than previous dungeons and it feels like Bungie made it with the intention that everyone run max resilience or you suffer. I've soloed every other dungeon and run solo flawless on all but Prophecy, though Pit was on my dads account. This dungeon is easily an outlier in terms of difficulty, right from the get go the first encounter is harder than any other encounter from any other dungeon due to time limitation for DPS.

                      • Without sounding elitist but endgame isn't ment to be easy, nothing wrong with coming to it at a later date when loadouts are better and ability is improved, however as a community we should help out more, i understand not everyone has time to teach or help but we all gotta do our bit

                      • I mean me and my team completed it blind on release, I know day 1 doesn't change the dungeon like it does raids but still. Also we were only 1564 and had no trouble what so ever. We managed to first try the boss with two runs for the symbols and one of us didn't get the buff half the time. One big tip I can give you is if you're a warlock just use scatter 'nades with nothing manacles and have it to where you get devour, it makes the final encounter so much easier. Now if you aren't a warlock then I sadly have no tips for you. As for weapons I would go for ghorn and cartesian if possible. I'm sure someday in the future you'll look back at this post and think "how did I ever think this was difficult?" Believe me I did the same thing back when recluse was a thing, I thought to myself I'll never get it and then one night at a friends house we stayed up all night and managed to get it. Nothing is ever impossible in the game it's just your mindset that makes it seem impossible, happens to most people.

                          I haven't beat it yet, but I like the difficulty, it actually feels like an endgame activity, most other Dungeons while being fun are no more difficult than a legend nightfall , but in Duality the amount you have to focus and keep track of things is raid level intense And I love the weapons, the armor and ship are boring, who thought generic Hakke armor was a good idea, good thing there is transmog

                        • Dungeon is fine. 2 ad clears and 1 runner for all encounters is how most lfg groups do it now.
