Does bungie expect most new players to ever experience endgame content?

Its seems like there is almost no intention to fix certain things, balance the game and smooth out grinding for endgame builds for new people who started playing the game since witch queen came out, i understand it is supposed to be hard work but certain things are impossible. I would love to hear peoples opinions, and also speculations, how many hours of gameplay would it take to build a brand new player into someone who could one phase rhulk? 1000hrs? 3000? im curious. theres a whole lot of gatekeeping when it comes to mods and class builds, new players are locked out of certain builds/wellmaking mods because ada-1 has an awful shop roll, and stasis builds are semi off limits because beyond light is broken.. i will grind for 24 hours/a week straight for something no complaints, gunsmith is a little slow.. but sitting here checking ada-1 every single day seems.. less fun.. painful even. and all the veterans players just rip into you for suggesting ada-1 bad, but bro you HAVE the mod lmao. i just don't see waiting as a viable game mechanic it just seems really heartbreaking, i know people put hundreds/thousands of hours in before they can legitimately raid and feel strong, but is that my only solution to just wait a weeks/months/years till i can get the things i am being gatekeep'd from doing? as i think i have made it close to as far as any solo new player can enjoyably get without being able to solo the harder things to get the gear to successfully solo those even harder things.. i know i know use LFG as they say, i need to find a good clan but can't disband my D1 one due to emotional nostalgia lmao, and lfg.. i don't actually want to be sherpa'd through things believe it or not, people are either too helpful or not at all haha! i've been playing since witch queen dropped and i am now light lvl 1554, constant grinding and i only have 1-2 master worked items that i can use, i like that grind, for prisms, not bad i really love my build. but every improvement i can make in terms of build/abilities is now behind a skill/build/time wall i am not aloud to break, not expecting a change or anything i just wonder if i'm not alone here? am i just impatient or does someone who actually has experience with the current state of the "new" game and starting in it understand what i'm saying? going to ada-1 everyday and just seeing the same 4 mods i can't buy and 1 that is useless over and over is depressing me... RNG is one of the elements in this game i like, when its reasonable and this doesn't feel that way, i am waiting for ONE specific mod but i am just waiting, not grinding or earning something to get it.. just waiting while anyone who played last season could just go and get it from a vendor.. maybe i am just being a spoiled brat like someone suggested for having this opinion, back in the day i put over a thousand hours into d1, but i started day one and thoroughly enjoyed playing the raids when they were a new epic thing and i just want to enjoy that feeling again in d2 with other new/returning players because it is an amazing game, there wasn't toxicity to new players back then either so, i'm curious about peoples personal experiences and opinion as new players and on new players when it come to playing endgame stuff and raids on a semi-hardcore level and if you are a new player and have any specific complaints relating to being a new player that is currently on the edge of endgame content but struggling due to time constraints or limitations of the game don't hesitate to speak up here if you came here to say "its fine stop complaing' or "get gud" or anything negative and you are a veteran player.. just don't lmao, you'll be okay and retain your masculinity if you dont <3 legit opinions and formlated reasons against what i said are fine tho

  • Nope. They say it in the marketing to deceive most people “Were inclusive!” but the truth and actions point to a different mindset. The game is curated for toxic elitist gatekeepers (raids and trials and GMs) Does that mean that ONLY those people can play that content? Nope. There are some helpful guardians who help out blueberries get their content clears, but that’s the exception that proves the rule. You can have some fun in solo for a bit, but it will eventually run out (fast in some cases) because solo players are not the focus, they are a side bar they throw scarps too for perforative holographic facades to cover their posteriors if someone calls them out. The main focus is streamers and the toxic cliques of gatekeepers. Remember, narcissists look out for each other and never anyone else.

    • It’s not Bungie’s responsibility to hold your hand through endgame content. If you really want to play endgame content, get a group together and play endgame content.

      • That’s kinda how these games work. If new player could come in and in no time be on the same level as someone that’s been playing for years that would be really bad. This game is about grinding. It’s a core mechanic of the game. I can def see why that would irritate new players. But that’s kinda their fault if it’s a surprise. They bought a game without learning about it. I think they have actually made it easier now than ever for new players. Almost all the important mods are available via the artifact. And they have added a lot of easy pinnacle activities to the point that with some lucky rng players will hit the pinnacle cap in just a few weeks. Between xur and the kiosk it’s easy to get past exotics. The latest dungeon is incredibly easy and requires no special mods of builds. It’s about as easy as ever for new players imo.

There definitely needs to be more ways to earn mods, I know for a fact iron banner is another alternative but that also means waiting. Regular Nightfalls should grant pve mods like well of light and rasputin mods while competitive should grant players pvp mods like charge with light and weapon mods like reload speed, scavenger mods, unflinching etc. I didn’t mention trials or grandmaster because the whole point of getting mods is to prepare for those modes.

          • Bungie has specifically nerfed nearly all the old mods specifically to balance the game and make it easier for new players to reach parity with veterans I thought the same thing when I joined the community during season of arrivals because I didn’t and couldn’t get all the warmind cell mods. But they got nerfed into oblivion. There where charged with light mods I waited a long time to buy… nerfed into the ground. The only old mods (and they are less than a year old) that are worth watching for this season are well of tenacity or seeking wells. Literally everything else is available in your artifact that is good this season. All the old exotics are in the kiosk so you can buy what you want and every catalyst is available for end game weapons A couple of weeks at 90 mins a day could easily get you end game ready

            • Destiny is the most grindy game that has existed in console. You simply will not have a complete arsenal with under 1000 hours of playtime

            • It really doesnt take that long to get things you just have to spend your time wisely and people cant be bothered by that so they just complain and say its unfair. If you want to one phase Rhulk thats a team aspect are you playing with the same people all the time? If not then you probably will never one phase Rhulk. In all my life of playing destiny the only boss I have ever consistently one phased with randoms is templar and thats bc its kinda free and the only way you dont is if your runner messes up. In all reality you the mods really dont matter, I spent all last year without ever having a warmind cell mod when they were broken... in fact I still dont have all of them, i slowly collected them over last year. You will get them over time its really not that important. I know you said you dont want it but LFG is how you meet people just takes time, out of the like 20-30 people I reguarly play with excluding one, I met through LFG. As for materials Golfballs and prisms, farm GM's, especially during double rewards, youll have more then you know what to do with after a couple hours (depending on how fast your clearing GM's) Arms Dealer is the one to farm this season. The game takes time to get stuff but there are definitley ways to get things quicker if you just learn how.

You're not wrong at all... Im a D1 vet, already 1560 base light now, hundreds of raid and GM clears... I have not been able to get any of my friends, who see my passion for the game and want to try it out, to stick around... They all play for like a week and say it's too overwhelming... Out of 5 people, 1 guy stuck around bc he's nasty at pvp but that's all he wanted to play

                • I mean how do you think the experienced and long time players earned all their stuff? It certainly wasn't gift wrapped or handed to us. We checked banshee every week just like you. We did activities for weapons with said mod and dismantled them for the mod. Hell I remember when mods weren't infinite. I know you don't want to hear it but you're just going to have to grind it out like everyone else.

                  • Destiny is so hyper casual, even in its endgame content, that builds with mods aren't all that necessary Combat Style mods only really become a necessity in things like Master Raids/Dungeons, Contest Raids, and GM Nightfalls. Everything else you can just have your build be 3 guns and a Super and you'll get along fine

any new player can do raids, the hardcore content is contest mode and master difficulty raids, any player with a high damage weapon without catalyst even can do the raids, they just need to watch the guide vids go into LFG and they're in.
