The problem is they are good everywhere. They are good on the ground, good in the air, good at long range, good at medium range, and even good at short range. They do a ton of damage, and are very forgiving to use. They virtually have no weaknesses. They crap on everything else. If they nerf one archetype another just fills it’s place. It’s been this way since the launch of D1. Any new season or sandbox update just means a new Hand Cannon will reign supreme…rinse and repeat, and it just gets old.
-
2 RisposteHand cannons are absolutely ass at close range. What do you mean? Side arms literally take HC's to pound town at close range. Hell even at medium range, pulses give them a run for their money.
-
7 RisposteThe meta feels great right now, if you don’t like HCs you can literally use pretty much any other primary and see success outside of sidearms. Sidearms feel very weak imo atm.
-
12 RisposteWhat gets really old is weapons that are fun to use in PvE getting nerfed in PvE because of PvP.
-
2 RisposteEvery game shooter game has a theme. COD, titanfall, battlefield etc. are all about automatic weapons. (And they do a great job with how they feel, shoot, and their ttk is amazing). The problem with destiny is that they did the opposite. They decided to favor peek shooting and hand cannons. But let’s be honest destiny did a great job with hand cannons because other games pretty just seem to treat them as a back up weapon. (Technically speaking they are) Granted there where times and seasons where automatic weapons dominated pvp and pve. Ultimately the community as a whole did not want that. Now in my opinion the only game that actually does a good job with both semi-automatic and full automatic weapons is Halo.

1 RispondiModificato da Wes: 8/3/2021 9:07:37 PMThey wouldn't be good everywhere is we didn't have maps that: 1. Are designed for 4v4 and are too small; and 2. Offer a tremendous amount of cover in the "sweet spot" of hand cannon range (because they're too small). So yeah. We need bigger maps. Maybe a couple with some nice open lanes. But on top of that, this is a movement based game. Single shot, instantaneous high damage weapons are going to be the most effective, even in a balanced sandbox. People are going to have a lot more success lining up 3 shots at a Warlock moving at 90 mph than lining up 8.
-
1 RispondiHand cannons are low risk high reward type of gun.
-
4 RisposteI'm still waiting for an actual "Hand Cannon" in the game. The closest that we've gotten is the Jotunn, lol!
-
Agreed. Hand cannons should be nerfed to bring other kind of weapons in PVP.
-
Modificato da Artisan: 8/5/2021 3:01:05 PMThere's also its advantage from peek shooting, the almost exclusively medium-short range maps, and as Aztecross well covered in a video dedicated to it: a glaring lack of initial accuracy penalty only for Handcannon. These Handcannon advantages, those still to Shotgun, those to teams and the lack of ranking for any matchmaking has made D2 PvP only for a minority who prefer and can abuse these to the full extent.
-
12 RisposteThey need stepper damage drop off at range or decreased accuracy In real life I wouldn't be talking a pistol into combat since most pistol are ment for 3-25 meters.
-
5 RisposteLol typical under 1k/d crying about handcannons. Doesn’t matter what meta it is your always gonna get outgunned and outplayed. Plenty of casual mobile games for people like you.
-
1 RispondiSaw this, thought of your topic from a few days ago, thought id share if for no other reason than its a pretty informative video.
-
3 RisposteThe problem with Hand Cannons is the maps are the size of a peanut, and have too many close quarters areas. Throw down an open map with verticality and watch hand cannon users disappear.
-
4 RisposteProblem isn't the handcannons in PvP........it's map sizes.
-
11 RisposteModificato da TacticalDucky69: 8/3/2021 6:02:25 PMYou’re just upset that you have a hard time using hand cannons in crucible. I’m sorry but even if they get nerfed to the ground you’re still going to be the same level of player. I’m sick of low tier players calling for unnecessary nerfs to things that makes weapons worse and less fun because they’re getting their shit pushed in in pvp. It’s not like low tiers players are actively playing pvp so why let players that barely play have such a big say in the state of the sandbox in pvp… Please just learn the game and get better with weapons and play styles that work. You don’t have to use a hand cannon but quit asking for nerfs because you’re losing… And don’t reply that you’re super good at the game because I looked you up. I usually look people up that makes these posts and they’re always negative KD players or barely positive. I just ask that you try to understand the game and improve because destiny is a very unique game and it can’t be treated like other FPS games.
-
Lol so many people hating on the literal way destiny was meant to be played. It’s always been HC shotgun or sniper and it will be that way forever. If you don’t like hand cannons maybe find a different game to play….
-
"I'm not bad. They just draw me that way." ----Jessica Rabbit. The problem is that Bungie tunes them that way. So they dominate the ranges where most PVP gun fights take place....and everytime Bungie tries to make something else the meta? The PvP community REBELS. So its not entirely Bungie's fault. You have a PVP culture that has a very narrow range of weapons that they've deemed "acceptable", and an even narrower definition of what's considered "skillful". The sandbox in PVE is more versatile and balanced...though it suffers from bleedover of a lot of tuning choices that were made to placate the PVP side of the player base (LMGs, SRs, FRs, etc....)
-
10 RisposteHand cannons should never outrange a scout rifle. I know this is a fantasy, a game, but in real life there are no "hand cannons" that can outrange a rifle of the same caliber.
-
Except that they're not good at long range at all, the problem is that long range is basically non-existent in pvp at the moment.
-
Handcannons just work in Destiny. Handcannons at least have the most fun meta. We’ve seen scouts rule and that was horrible, Autos as well. They are most commonly liked weapon type in the game and I feel that is ok.
-
Not arguing with you. But we’ve had them be inaccurate everywhere and it just rendered them completely irrelevant period and a lot of people didn’t like that. They are objectively less forgiving then basically every other weapon class. In air accuracy I just don’t get why we even have to have a convo on that. Just let all guns retain full accuracy at all times, it’s a -blam!-ing stupid limiter on skill that’s just bypassed by mods anyways. Hand cannons are an ip special man, a destiny without them would feel a lot more generic and while I agree they can be annoying in crucible, literally half the crucible is just cancer and aids anyways like how long has hot swap now erianas been a thing? Not a god damn words ever been spoken on it
-
There ain't a problem with hand cannos there'd a problem with yours and many other playstyles. Chroma rush, grid skipper, 340 pulse rifles etc. Slap around hand cannon users.
-
2 RisposteDo you play on PC? Because it's not as big a deal on console.
-
1 RispondiI thought you were going for a Dr. Seuss thing there for a moment. Would’ve been great! But you are spot on.
-
4 RisposteHand Cannons are a staple of FPSs. The thing is, not everyone is good with them. Even if they are meta.
-
True I think they are good all rounders. But will you outgun an SMG at close range if the guy knows what he's doing. You also probably won't outgun a gridskipper or vjg wing and long range, I think the balance is really good at the min. I can personally enjoy using all sorts and not have to worry about the guy using a hand cannon.
