We are currently looking at a handcannon meta, one far more stronger and varied than ever before.
Currently, trials, comp, and casual modes are all dominated by handcannons. (With Felwinter's in the energy slot, but that's not my concern)
According to guardian.gg's weapon statistics, handcannons make up for 33% - 36% of usage across all weapons. This may seem reasonable until you realize that this is more usage than all primary weapon classes combined.
And that's on all platforms, and across all pvp modes
And it's not like it's just usage, their overall performances are staggering, garnering top spots in competitive modes. The kinetic slot is currently favored by handcannons for good reason.
Charlemagne's meta report for trials week:
1. The Steady Hand
2. Sturm
3. Crimson
4. True Prophecy
5. Dire Promise
6. Ace of Spades
7. Arbalest
8. Astral Horizon
9. The Last Word
10. Hawkmoon
You can see the obvious trend. This persists into casual modes as well, which has not changed much from the previous weeks.
Crucible meta overall for this week provided by warmind.io:
1. Crimson
2. Ace of Spades
3. The Steady Hand
4. Dire Promise
5. Sturm
6. The Last Word
7. True Prophecy
8. Hawkmoon
9. No Time to Explain
10. Thorn
Again, a clear trend and obvious superior performance. In the current sandbox, handcannons are a clear outlier.
Can we please cut back on them? Maybe provide a small range or aim assist nerf so that they aren't so easy to use in their current state?
Since bungie clearly does not want to add bigger maps, we need to balance the sandbox accordingly to what we have. Even if we did have bigger maps, the percentages shown are so big that they likely would not budge much. So the best move would be to change the root of the problem.
Edit: Suddenly all the 0.8 players with barely any pvp playtime have become crucible experts...

2 RisposteAdd bloom back to them so they can’t spam the trigger..as it stands you can spam the trigger and if your target is staggered or standing still you hit all shots...which hit hard.
-
From a thorn to ace and now Crimson main i can see what you mean

Modificato da Facelauss: 12/30/2020 12:40:04 AMImo 140s are in a good place, 600 autos match them in a lot of ways and high impacts pulses can definitely hang. 120 handcannons probably need at least a slight range nerf. (50m should never be possible)

14 RisposteModificato da JazzyPaladin477: 12/28/2020 1:50:08 PMHand cannon goons, constantly, for all of 2020: “Zomg nerf no skill 600 autos! .67s ttk at 35m op!!! Crucible is ruined!!!” X 1 000 000 Hand canon goons post beyond light: “There is nothing wrong with a 0.5s ttk peek shoot 2 tap at 50m. Everything is fine. Reeeeeeeeeeeeee.......Stop asking for nerfs you toxic d-bags”
-
120’s are a bit overtuned, but 140’s??? No. 150’s literally got deleted so 140’s could be good

3 RisposteModificato da ChaseyCakes: 12/29/2020 6:51:34 AMHand cannons should be always be a phenomenal option used in high tier play. Crimson needs to do less flinch everything else on that list are 120 rpm handcannons and exotic 140s why because of chunk damage and are fine. Hand cannons are great for shooting in the air and getting in high damage while peak shooting. The only fix is for bungie to get off their butt and either bring back some bigger maps from d1 or make new bigger maps.
-
5 RisposteWe had a range nerf which only limited hand cannon usage to a select few or less. All but one archetype was usable. Hand cannons got nerfed at the end of d1 year 1 and they sucked till almost the end of rise of iron. Yes there were still some few hand cannons that could be used. But it also limited the meta to a select few hand cannons with certain perks. You needed range finder and other range boosting perks for your hand cannon shots to hit. If you didn't have them it was just a rng gun fight even in the weapon's range. Point is any of the nerfs hand cannons received were too much. Bungie doesn't adjust slightly.

2 RisposteNerf Auto Rifles Buff Handcannons Nerf Handcannons Buff Auto Rifles Nerf Auto Rifles It never ends because Handcannon Divas think pressing the fire button 3 times on someone takes THAT much more skill than holding fire button and adjusting the thumb stick. You just have to expect this at this point. At any moment, it will either be an Auto Rifles or Handcannon meta depending on who cries the hardest.
Hunter Handcannon Divas cry the hardest in case it wasnt obvious. Destiny is their game.
-
1 RispondiIt’s the only meta that will ever be because whenever bungie try something different the wannabe sweat brigade whine in force and we get the hand cannon mega back. :)

I like how this post get shit cause someone wants balance. I'm in the same boat tired of same shit every season. But when trying to talk bout it people will either say get gud, deal with it, or make some excuse that they don't always use the loadout that is being presented.
-
Use whatever loadout. Get tilted. Use Last Word. Done.
-
7 RisposteHow about we buff other primaries instead of going the nerf everything approach? That just creates a watered down game
-
1 RispondiShut up just shut up, idiots constantly crying for nerfs when things are not going their way. It's getting pathetic, I don't play pvp and I love using hand cannons for missions and strikes. Every weapon used correctly can kill you so players using the one they prefer is the norm. Maybe if you don't like it then find something new to play, you don't see COD players asking for constant nerfs.
-
Bungie gave us a reason to use them this season by buffing range on 120s and making them 120s from 110s. Especially since they were so under used for several years for faster guns like 150s which are now no longer in existence as they are moved to 140s. But They have always been strong. Its just now people are using them more. Its not exactly the easiest weapon to use either with slow TTK and awful recoil.
-
11 Risposte120s are the only thing I’ll accept as an outlier. Being able to two-tap at 50m is a bit ridiculous. 140s are completely fine, imo.
-
51 RisposteSince you like to quote stats. 1. Go to Google. 2. Google " destiny 2 ttk chart " 3. Look for the reddit mega thread 4. Explain why you lost your 1 to hand cannons... The reality. Hand cannons have slower ttks. Base and with damage boosters. Quit crying. Hit your shots. " But aim assist " Pulses, scouts, and side arms have similar AA values " But range " 120s are probably the only thing needing a range reduction " But look at the use rates.. obviously broken " Or maybe people just copy loadouts of what they see others use. PvE loadout stats would prove this. I'll provide the link for you because we all know you won't go look for it. The truth hurts. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/bx40yi/massive_breakdown_weapon_stats_spreadsheet_has/&ved=2ahUKEwiW1fzppfHtAhWMuVkKHf_FD-kQFjABegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw3m9KjtneMTHvRz1Fb0Kn0P

4 RisposteWell I mean apparently Crimson is broken on console 120s are broken on PC 140s are just naturally good.
-
Hand Cannons are way down the wishlist that would bring me back to PvP. How about we fix P2P connections that cause horrendous lag, next lets look at region specific match-making, then we could have look at cheats and rigorous action. Then we could talk about ranked playlists, separate PvP/PvE balancing, map design, rewards, ability cool-downs, list continues..

3 RisposteModificato da Avoodle Kadoodle Noodle: 12/29/2020 5:50:15 AMHey can you stop reposting the same thing every single day multiple times per day?

I may be biased, aside from crimson(too much flinch), I'd say hand cannons are in the spot they are supposed to be. You can get out shot by most other weapon types if you dont land your shots. Yes, they are the most used, but from what I understand this community tends to just like the weapon type which could explain a fair chunk of usage. 120s cant really be nerfed that much because their TTK is below average (judging by metas in the past) and the range over 140s is the only thing that makes them viable. (Hand cannon targeting giving that assist buff needs to go though) I find that the sandbox in general is really decent this season. I can use most guns and not feel too horribly out classed. Stasis is a bit much to deal with at times though as is shotguns (this is a map and movement issue though, not a weapon issue) This is my perspective from console and after fair experience in crucible this season.
-
Yeah the weapon balance was way healthier last season. Top 3 primaries in Trials were: ARs: ~1.3mil HCs: ~1mil SAs: ~500k Now it's: HCs: >5mil PRs: ~500k They are way too strong.
-
Hand cannons are supposed to do a lot of damage but be less accurate, what makes them OP is the bullet magnetism in the game. There's times ill miss the headshot by a mile and watch the bullet trail literally curve to their head.
-
8 RisposteOk let's see. Load into Crucible. Use handcannon. Ok. Frozen and shotgunnned Ok frozen and Jotunned Ok frozen and shattered. I don't see it.
-
13 RisposteModificato da Immoral: 12/29/2020 5:57:38 AMWe just got out of a Gnawing Hunger meta. Not an AR meta, a Gnawing Hunger one. At least there is more than one weapon dominating Crucible right now. And Thorn being #10 is suprising. Thorn + Necrotic Grips absolutely slaps.
-
15 RisposteI've always been in love with hand cannons. I personally don't have a problem with them

24 RisposteLoL there’s a trade off. It’s the reason HC have higher ttks than most other weapons. 600 autos 150 Scouts HI Pulses all have better ttks than HC’s not named TLW You’re getting outplayed. HC are great for peek shooting w/ High Damage. Stop engaging in them. Make sure you have Line of Sight. And Hit your shots. It’s not hard. HC users get punished hard for missing their shots. As you should for engaging in someone who’s obviously peek shooting as they Should. LoL
