Pros:
* Visuals
* Sound design
* Atmosphere
* The overall event when it actually happened
* No disconnects, at least for me
Cons:
* Wait time was long
* More could've been done with the emblem award than with a scannable
* Possible connection issues with other players (debatable, needs backup)
How to Improve Events Like These (using this event as the specific example):
* Reducing wait time. How to do this? Have the "explosion and crash" event happen exactly on the timer, and instead have Rasputin shooting up the Valkyries and their slow, steady approach as the "countdown timer". Why would this be better? Timing is key to live events. The approach of the Valkyries would've been an optional viewing, and would've also built up more hype and excitement around the event if noticed before the explosion. Think Reddit posts sounding like "Wow look the Valkyries have been launched it's happening!" instead of "Wow we had to wait for these Valkyries to show up...".
* Improvement of server connections. Why would this make it better? This would make it easier for the playerbase to view the event without dealing with the stress that comes from getting booted from the instance. This would also better the quality of the overall game.
* Improvement on emblem give-outs. How to do this? That's debatable. There are many ways to go about this. Perhaps a mini-quest? A scannable and then a vendor visit (adding an extra layer or two)? Addition of a lore card to the emblem? Something easy and simple and not too complicated to complete would go well with the community. Think Devil's Ruin. Simple and short mission. with dialogue filled with personality and lore. Why would this be better? I was honestly fine with how it was given out but many other players disagree and were hoping for more to it. I think this would improve the overall community reception of obtaining the emblem by adding extra layers to it.
* My personal addition: Making the physical impacts feel more powerful. How to do this? Let's use today as an example. Making the final shockwave fling us back more forcefully and further away gives a better feeling of power in the impact. The tower debris feels minimal, with the exception of the one hole by Zavala, so maybe add another deepish crater or two in the center and wings? Why would this make it better? It would improve the overall atmosphere and physical/mental impact of the event.
Epilogue:
It took me quite a while and a lot of effort and brainstorming to type this out. I only want the best for Bungie and for the community, and I noticed the large amount of disdain towards today. I then decided "what the hell, maybe typing out a thoughtful and detailed constructive-criticism piece that Bungie may or may not read improve the overall mindset of the community. In my opinion, nothing is improved by hurling insults at the developers. Constructive criticism is the community's greatest ally, one that can dish out the most useful information and suggestions while helping the community voice their concern. That's why I typed this out over the course of about an hour.
If you made it this far into the post, thank you! All I hope if for at least one person to read and consider these ideas that popped up in my brain. I hope my takes aren't complete crap, but I tried my best to make them sound decent enough.
Have a good day/night!

Really great post! Definitely worth the brainstorming an hour of writing :)

3 RisposteI am so proud to have my emblem that proves that I stood in the tower for 90 minutes. Ugh. Needed to be thirty minutes long at most after that people were leaving and loosing interest in my tower and my wife was making fun of me for sitting there. It would be more exciting if it was quicker like thirty minutes.

Modificato da OneTrueMandalor: 6/9/2020 6:16:47 AMI really like how thought out this was. Good to see some actual constructive feedback in a sea of toxicity. This is how we should be giving feedback. GG.

8 RisposteSeriously, it is extremely funny how Bungle can’t get a single thing right.

15 Risposteone thing i would add to the event, and it would greatly help with players knowing the pacing and how far along the event is progressing is Chatter over the Comms between Ana And Rasputin giving real time status reports on the attack. Event Starts Ana: Rasputin, come in? Activate Launch sites, Stand by. 10 Minutes in Ana: IO Launch sites online and Firing. 20 Minutes in Ana: Moon Launch sites online and Firing. 30 Minutes in Rasputin in Russian: Error detected in EDZ Launch Sites, Ana: Copy Big Red, running diagnostics and fixing, 40 Minutes in Ana: Confirmation of Missile Impact on Almighties Shields, Seem it has Defensive guns intercepting some of your Missiles Rasputin Rasputin gives off a angry Tone. 45 Minutes in Ana: EDZ Launch Sites are finally online and firing, Almighty Shields have been depleted 50 Minutes in Ana: we have confirmation of impacts across the almighty, Hull integrity is comprimised, 55 Minutes in Ana: detecting Fluctuations in the almighties Core, Core Detonation iminant. 60 Minutes in, the Almighty Detonates in a ball of fire and begins falling out of the sky, as the city and tower are heard cheering Ana: we Did it rasputin, amazing work, Commander are you there? Rasputin has made sure the Almighty will crash a safe distance away from the city, just hold on to something, Zavala: coming in loud and clear Ana, astounding job from both you and Rasputin, we couldnt have done it without you and for that you have our eternal gratitude. i feel that this would greatly help build the hype up and contribute to the imersion of the event, hearing real time chatter and status reports as to give the players a feeling of how close they are to its climax, and thus a indication of how long til the event is over. and would make the event more interesting and less boring. i think this single change wouldve realy made a huge differance in how the event wouldve been percieved.

49 RisposteThe fact that players have to tell a Triple A studio why starting a live event on time is important is hilarious.
-
An hour and a half was insane. That was unacceptable for a live event. They propagated FOMO with music crecending every 5 to 10 minutes. The excuse "our first time" is garbage. As a consumer why should I care? Main complaint this season was wasted time with bounties, what did we get? An event that wasted our time. Was the the end result cool? Not really. EDZ hasnt changed, and only minor damage near Zavala. I originally thought the caters in the city below the wall were from the event, but my friend said they were always there. Is this true? If so, thats even worse. Id argue a fitting failure fot the season. So much potential but wasted.
-
1 RispondiWell, it was better than the previous season finale... I applaud Bungie for trying new things, but for me the biggest drawback was that it turned everyone into passive spectators. (Maybe that's what they really want... "it must be watchable") There was nothing to actually do -- all you could do was watch. A special "investigate the crash scene" mission? Cabal assault pods dropping into the tower? Nope... Not even an Eververse crash sale.

1 RispondiModificato da STEL: 6/8/2020 8:57:14 PMThe event was a failure just like the sate of the game and the fact there is nothing about the next Season until an hour before the game drops. They made an Live Event into a Grind Event.
-
All good points, but I’d rather Bungie not do more love events. It just adds more FOMO to a game that already feels like a second job.

Your rational and constructive feedback is not welcome here. Only hormonal teenage rage is allowed on these forums.

4 RisposteThank you for sharing your thoughts on the Event. I like this a lot personally, you have a lot better ideas than I do.

Modificato da Liightley: 6/8/2020 2:49:20 AMI missed the event, didn't even know it was happening, poorly marketed imo, I felt robbed of all that effort I put into getting Almighty (my first title). But I can imagine for a lot of people it must have felt like your family arriving too early to a fireworks show. Except with fireworks events, you have a concert, refreshments and kids activities to keep you entertained before the fireworks start going off. In Destiny 2 you had a bunch of blueberries standing at a ledge with no voice chat for 90 mins.
-
5 RisposteI completely missed this event,where/when was it announced?
-
Nice post, good points. If I may suggest one thing too? Can we please have a damn torch mapped to the d pad. We are a space hero living in the future, with heroic powers and weapons. But enter a dark place and we are f***d.!
-
1 RispondiThe event was cool but it should've started at 10 not 10:30, and it should've taken only 20 minutes rather than a full hour.
-
Great read and I hope Bungie considers your suggestions. I haven't played for the last 2 seasons but I just finished watching a 2 hour finale video while I was having my breakfast this fine Monday morning. I've never been more glad to have NOT played than I am now. I can't imagine how some of you all sat there for 2 hours, some even more, to watch this slow as hell cutscene unfold. And leading into that you had the same 100 level progression formula, the same bounties, the same enemies, the same planets, wow. I've seen the trailer for the next season and have since found out it will follow the same formula as the others. I'll sit this one out too. I really do miss the Destiny of old and still don't understand how Bungie got to this point, especially with all the high hopes we had with the split from Activision. At the end of the cut scene I was really hoping Eververse would have been one of the areas that had been blown away, it would have been fitting.

A well thought out and intelligent comment!

Finally some constructive critism.

Modificato da Audiblegold86: 6/8/2020 12:26:10 PMOP has missed a major Con with this live event. It occurred at 10am PT for 90 minutes was it? So for myself that was 1.00am-2.30am on Sunday morning. Ok, so at least it was a weekend. Being time bankrupt, it would have been much better for players like myself if it was a cut scene I could have watched in my own time frame during waking hours instead of the choice of giving up most of a nights sleep. So I am forced to watch other players streams/you tube videos and their choice of view point instead of being in control of my character and my choice of how I viewed the event. I gather the event was more enjoyable in game rather than watching it on you tube. So I gather this is just the first of future content I can expect to miss out on in Destiny 2? I actually paid for this seasonal content but Bungle decided to make it very difficult for myself to experience the finale. It's a bit like paying to watch a movie at the cinema and then being told to leave 5 minutes before the end.

2 RisposteIf only we could visit the crash site..

1 RispondiModificato da Judas: 6/8/2020 11:16:55 AMI agree that... A: This was Bungie's first major scale Live Event, and except for the extremly long wait, the explosion>crash>aftermath sequince was nicely done. B: There should of been more to the event participation "Prize". I found that the emblem looked a bit lackluster concidering how much time the community spent doing that awful quest. And just standing in a crater and scanning for it was just too meh after standing in the tower for close to 2 hours. (my own fault, I went to the Tower as soon as the ingame promt came onto my screen 30 mintutes before reset... but I thought "hey, it's only 30 minutes") I personally would have really enjoyed doing a little Quest to get the Emblem. And maybe some Lore on the Almighty. The Quest could of been searching the rubble of the Almighty crash site. It didn't have to be a big area, just enought to transmat in, look around a bit, transmat out again (Skybox just smoke and fire). And instead of just an Emblem (and Lore) something worth while like few Shards, a event weapon skin or event theme class item/skin to go along with the emblem. just my 2 cents

2 RisposteModificato da Optimus_immortel: 6/7/2020 10:00:56 PMNot an event at all. You can't force magic moments like laser tag crucible, Lord of wolves, whisper of the work and zero hour. Not only that but missiles??? Really? I didn't expect any less than a giant valkyrie red laser absolutely demolishing that thing. There is hundreds of pyramids ships much larger than that and those middle won't even tickle them

1 RispondiI watched the 6min version of it. It looked to me like a pale and downgraded version of Fortnite’s season 1 ending. After coming on the forums and reading some players’ exhilarating I expected much more than just a flash and some debris. Anyway, that was really nothing worth standing in front of the screen, in fact none of my friends who continue to play watched it. However what is impressive is to know that some 20k people stayed for over 2h watching it. Good for Bungie! Some people really have nothing to do in life. I guess they will tell their grand children: “I was there when the almighty blew up instead, of marching in the streets in the name of equality and justice. Because that was my destiny.”
-
So buff fusion rifles?
-
1 RispondiAlso, there should be something new and unique to do after the event, a mission to go on or something. Also, for those that couldn't make the event, there should be a cut scene that plays the next time they log in.
