3 pinnacle weapon quests this season.
2 exotic quests this season (truth, lumina)
Solstice Armor Grind
Tribute Hall Discounts
Destiny's pursuit tab is starting to fill up with too many 'grocery list' quest lines. Quests that say go here and kill x enemies, go here and pick up x resources, go here and generate x orbs. And unfortunately it compounds over seasons. Didn't finish last season's pinnacle gambit weapon? well now you have two this season.
I would like to see a shift back to activity based rewards. I don't mind an exotic quest being tied to a raid (acrius), or a dungeon (wish ender) because this encourages replay value and challenge for a pinnacle activity. I would rather see a pinnacle pve weapon drop from a nightfall chest or dungeon, then require me to run all grenade launcher weapons for 10 hours.
Constricted loadouts for short periods of time is cool, I don't mind the idea of the prestige raid lairs required loadouts, its 1 raid. But when you have to play hours with a very specific often obnoxious loud-out (triple grenade launcher) it sucks the fun out of it.
I'm ok with 1 or 2 lengthy quest lists per season, but more than that and it feels like your focus is pulled away from just enjoying the game-play in a natural way.
There can still be A Grind for Gear, I just believe there are more enjoyable ways to do it, Menagerie was a good example of this.
EDIT: Thanks for all the comments and upvotes! I've enjoyed reading and commenting.
Exotic Quests done right:
Outbreak, Whisper, Acrius, WishEnder
Quests that at least offer something new/interesting after the grind
Ace, Last Word, Bad Juju
Disappointing
Truth, Lumina, Chaperone etc

1 RispondiThis title reminded me that I still have to go grocery shopping

It’s so -blam!-ing annoying to have quests like the Solstice armor constantly being added. There’s no challenge, no difficulty, nothing. It’s just a test of how long you can play the game until you realize how shitty and repetitive it is

100% agree

I agree

The game should guide the quest. I have to google how to do certain things. Personally don’t play the game to have to do outside research

11 RisposteModificato da TheShadow-cali: 8/9/2019 7:11:54 PMAnd the absurd amount of bounties. Holy Cow this entire game seems to be based off that and they are set on a time limit. Things have changed drastically from how we were able to play in D1. Destiny could be called a quest/bounty game when it used to be more of a looter shooter.

Grocery list quests (great name btw) only require minimum effort - just slap some arbitrary numbers on the existing content, done! Activity based rewards require ...well, the creation of activity based rewards. And making content is hard. Many people don't see it yet, many don't even want to see it, but Bungie is in dire straits when it comes to creating new & original content. I'd say even ideas are scarce at Bungie right now. This game hasn't become the undeclared world champion of recycling by accident, it's simply Bungie's only way to release any kind of content. Realistically speaking Bungie officially can't handle or keep up with a live service game, we've seen more than enough proof of that. But Bungie doesn't care about what they can or can't do - as long as there's money to be made in live service games they will shamelessly throw the next 1000 reskins and grocery list quests our way.

-blam!- it, I would rather deal with the last step from the Thorn quest in D1. Mind you, the void kills were hell, so the quest was rough. But the final mission where you had to face phogoth and kill Yûr or whatever that assholes name was is infinitely better than "do ten strikes." Even if they just add in "kill this specific enemy in this specific version of the same strike you've already done" it is far better than repeating the same thing over and over again.

1 RispondiModificato da Jamestown01010: 8/9/2019 3:23:59 PMTotally agree with this. The current grind types seem like lazy design by Bungie. I want to just play and enjoy the game instead of being restricted by things such as “get xx kills with a void weapon” or 1500 kills with a grenade launcher. Seems like we are always playing to fulfill some restrictive requirement for a quest, instead of just using what we want and getting rewarded. And no, a reward is not another massive grind for some mediocre armor on top of another grind for bright dust to buy ornaments. Endless grinding is necessary to keep players on board in a vacuum of engaging content.

11 RisposteModificato da Pure: 8/8/2019 9:28:22 PMNah, a mix is fine. Just how it is right now. I would however enjoy more "mini missions" like the ending to the Last Word quest.

2 RisposteModificato da AbsolutZeroGI: 8/9/2019 6:32:46 AMI would argue that Polaris Lance and Sleeper were well done. Finding nodes, doing escalation protocols etc were all part of the Mars DLC and kept you on the planet hunting stuff and exploring the place. Didn't have to kill 500 bad guys with xxx type weapon for Sleeper. You just had to make sure you had an ikelos weapon equipped. Pinnacle weapon grinds suck balls, though. I hated the ace of spades and last word grind and I'll never get Mal done.
-
3 RisposteThey are creatively bankrupt and their only focus is the various eververse/DLC/pass scams.
-
Nope, quests mean everyone can obtain that weapon with time and dedication not luck
-
Of course there’s times when a little too much grind is involved but i’m actually happy with the exotic quests. I’d much rather do a quest than everything being rando drops when you’re at the mercy of rng

Bad idea

2 RisposteGrocery shopping is awesome. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee, stops to put apples in cart. Weeeeeereeeeeeee, stops for cheese. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee, you get my point......

Modificato da ricstar: 8/9/2019 7:25:00 PMGood luck with these lazy b4stards doing extensive quests. Cut and Paste strikes, pvp, patrols etc., is much easier than creating content, just means they can get back to playing good games quicker by doing this and ignore this forum

15 RisposteModificato da Carbiniz3r: 8/8/2019 7:03:57 PMPinnacle weapons were designed EXACTLY for the hardcore players. Everything else you say i can agree with. They literally put those particular weapons in the game for players who play alot of destiny. I know they are amazing guns and great loot but not everything has to be tethered to players who only seem to play this game in increments of 30 minutes. This is coming from a dad with 40+ hour work weeks, i get it. Pinnacles were placed in because of D1 players, you could get on, do all your reset rewards and get off the rest of the week and still have the same inventory as someone who played 40 hours a week. Its a method to reward those players regardless if you feel they have no life or not.

Modificato da Wheelaa1: 8/9/2019 7:10:01 PMSadly "Activity Based Rewards" are being removed to shoehorn crap into EV. Raid ships anyone?
-
Current way of doing things means Bungie needs to put zero effort into quest steps Bungie will take the easiest option when doing anything as they know they have a core group of players that will shine god rays up their asses for doing so.
-
1 RispondiI've never heard of them referred to as grocery list quests but you are exactly right. It's so dull as is. Who wants to look at a requirement and be like: yesssss only 450 more kills to go! So boring.
-
2 Risposteyou forgot to mention things like the rat king.
-
5 RisposteThe Destiny 1 Quest for No Time To Explain was so freaking cool, wish we had more of that stuff.
-
2 RisposteModificato da Optimus_immortel: 8/9/2019 1:43:27 PMAgree 200 percent. No more magic left in d2. The last 2 magical moments were whisper and zero hour. Bungie have lost their mark giving players things to do. Things to do is triumphs or seals. (Not to mention tying to many fireteam requirements to seals is exactly how Bungie get things wrong) you know things you can do when your bored. Things to earn is by having a circumstance a player is challenged by, requires strategy and is a satisfying achievement. It also should have a very satisfying outcome in terms of loot.

Modificato da W33DEDPLAGUE: 8/9/2019 4:53:57 PMActivity based rewards increase would be great. But keep the stuff we have now too. Pinnacle weapons are meant to be for people who master (or are at the "pinnacle") of their activity. I agree though, we néed more activity, vendor, and loot in general in the world loot pools.
