For all the changes and ‘improvements’ Bungie have made following player feedback, the game still blows thanks largely to the rng that exists in the game.
Case in point Scourge of the Past. I’ve completed 79 looted runs of the raid and got the exotic sparrow on my 73rd run but have yet to get Anarchy as of writing this post.
To put that in perspective, it is longer than six months of my life. Some may think that’s acceptable but I don’t. I think it’s ridiculous. When you add in all of the other BS rng activities in the game (reckoning/ forges/ menagerie/ last wish/ crown of sorrow/ iron banner etc), plus the fact not everyone has the time to run/ level up three characters this is far too low and far too much demand is placed on a players time. Your talking years if you want a raid exotic if you run just the one character!
Of course Bungie want you to be addicted to their game. They don’t care if you spend 13-14 hours a day playing, players health or regard for their player’s personal time. As long as they keep you ‘sticky’ that’s great for them and great for their profits. But I’d argue there has been a line drawn - which was found almost perfectly in Destiny 1.
My answer to their BS rng is to play the game less. I do my 9 raids a week and I’m done, usually by Wednesday. -blam!- player titles, -blam!- exotic quests, -blam!- this game. I love a grind but when it’s boring stuff like the grenade launcher kills for wendigo or generate 250 orbs of light for no -blam!-ing reason - go -blam!- yourselves!
Introduce fun elements to this game and you’ll get me back. Like zero hour, great mission and a fun activity. And for -blam!-s sake, up the drop rates of exotics in the raids!
