Bungie please make swords viable like they were in destiny 1. Shotguns over shadow swords both in damage and availability. The ammo economy makes so secondary ammo is plentiful in comparison to sword ammo. You need to either up the damage of swords or put them in the secondary slot.

Im going to be really honest here, the only thing swords need at this point is armor. Thats it! Swords get plenty of ammo, damage is pretty good but whats the reason they suck so much? Armor, a shotguns pellets travel instantly and farther than swords making shotguns much less riskier to use. Swords have animations while shotguns don’t, swords are in the heavy slot but shotguns still pull out more damage unless you have god roll swords. In crucible you get melted instantly when equipping a sword, the truth is, swords would be viable if they gave players armor. Maybe not as much armor as a player using super but enough armor to tank a few hits, right now someone can shoot you once with a hand-cannons and follow with a melee and kill you before your sword animation finished which results in a trade or the guy with the sword dying anyways. Its absurd that using swords don’t give players armor, if thats not the best way to balance it then swords need a much, much longer lunge. Swords needs to lunge much further if giving it armor is not the way to go.

More aggressive and lightweight frames. An exotic designed for PvE in mind(the other two sword exotics are PvP-oriented.) Make them less suicidal to use. It's not the knockback of a boss stomp that kills swords, it's the damage of the stomp in addition to targets having a tendency to focus whatever is closest. A passive damage reduction would make a huge difference. Even with max resilience, you still get chunked. The only bypass to this is a recently released Titan exotic, but an exotic is not the answer because whether or not an exotic drops is entirely RNG. Some may never ever see those gauntlets for the next several months, just because it doesn't drop. How is someone supposed to play with them when exotics drop at a pitiful pace of around once per week, not counting xur? Give them a higher magazine capacity. The highest you can get, IIRC, is 50 with the right armor and weapon perks. A +15 or +20 to magazine capacity would at least give them a very high potential as add-clearing weapons given that their boss damage is pretty low(because having to constantly guard or run away.) Even after the recent buffs and nerfs, swords are still the worst power weapons in terms of practicality. They're very fun to use, but just not good. Kind of sucks that if you really want to do any good, you have to use a lame rocket launcher or machine gun.

Swords are crap in D2. Most swing WAAAAAAAAY TOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW. And the infamous uppercut. Holy smokes!! Why does nearly every sword have the stupid uppercut?!?!?! Ammo and damage are fine. Hit boxes and assists are fine. Movement and swing speeds is what kills these weapons. They should be in the energy slot if the movements cant be changed

I'm okay with legendary swords against anything other than an end boss... there is a minor issue with the occasional whiff; mainly due to camera angles in third person Swords have quick/powerful attack options, they don't need to be reloaded, they have their own ammo generating perks and they can block attacks!! Exotics could do with a little love; black talon is good... but if I'm running a sword I want it masterworked!!! The EP sword doesn't really feel like it warrants the exotic slot, when I can do just as well with a legendary!

8 RisposteCan't use swords on bosses because of the totally stupid "stomp" mechanic of all the bosses.

Make them special weapons

1 RispondiMovement speed needs a boost, you can easily be backpedaled in pvp

really didnt care about swords but since titans got an exotic built around them they should get adjusted or something
-
Few things are disheartening as sneaking up on someone and getting 2/3 the way through your sword swing for them to turn around and blat you with a shotgun instantly.
-
Range and more impact
-
Considering swords are used for ad clear i feel like they should move to the secondary slot with the exception of black talon(mainly because of crucible)
-
Just make swords special weapons. If people can one shot with shotgun a mile away, why can't we use swords that require you to be right in their face?
-
Yes, thank you! Swords are so much fun but they are so difficult to use. I’d like to see them get a buff, maybe add a run speed buff when carrying a sword with ammo or adding armor. I just really want to see the close combat meta become more diverse then it is atm.
-
They will be good for titans yee
-
And for the love of the Traveler, can we get some more variety with sword archetypes? It's hard to get hyped about swords when almost all of them are funtionally identical. Can we get some more Agressive and Lightweight frame swords, and make them available to all classes?

I think damage is main component of swords that needs tuning. It takes 3 ammo for a powerful attack in D2 while in D1 it took 5. In D2, sword are gimmicky at best and can be fun to goof around with. However, for practical use, they need a damage buff to compete with other weapons. The knock-back mechanics just make swords hard to utilize in general against bosses.
