There's no reason for immunity in the blade barrage super

I'm literally dying to people I've had one shot and meleed or struck with my super first or shot first because they went into their super animation and invincibility frames have saved the day The animation is super quick already which is fine, but let me counter and trade at least! Invincibility frames didn't save Cayde. Why does Xxhunter420noscopesxX get them? ~signed, Getting burned too often Edit: in response to a lot of replies about damage mitigation vs. immunity, my clan mates and I are going into private matches to test it. I'll gladly eat crow if it's damage mitigation. All supers should have that to varying degrees. Video will follow.   • I use well of radiance and a high impact bow. If I correctly predict a players position and get the headshot while in my super I should at least get a trade. Not just take off a 5th of their shield. And while I'm at it why doesn't well of radiance have the same invincibility while casting. And why can 1 shotgun hit kill me in Well. You can't counter any other roaming super with a single shotgun hit. Well is a fun super. Make it usable in PvP.

    • It's not invincibility while you cast though. I've died a few times literally in the middle of the cast. Yes it takes skill and some good headshoots from whoever is doing the shooting, but you can die while casting it - it just does not happen often. If any super needs fixed right now it's nova warp. When you die, respawn in other side of the map, and die right away from the same guardian in the same super, then there's a problem. And one eyed mask needs nerfed. Don't think I've ever seen any exotic used more in comp.

        The casting animation itself being incredibly quick really is what gives it zero functional reason to have damage resistance. I'd wager it is something baked deeper into the game code as a whole because all super abilities in both Destiny 1 and 2 have damage resistance during the initial ability animation, including Golden Gun which is famous for being the only super ability to date with no damage resistance.

        • I believe you take a damage reduction the same as novabomb and thundercrash, but no one complains about them. With the upcoming nova buff there will hopefully be a buff to thundercrash and we can all start playing rather than complaining. In my experience I've killed blade barrage users, even with a sidearm once, it's possible. Never killed a thundercrash but I do think the range could do with a boost and eternal warrior to work with it. Rarely played against nova so I'm not going to spew random crap, I'll just say it needs to have more range and travel quicker. But they all roughly have 50% damage reduction, TC and NB just need a little tlc.

        • I dont actually think that are invincibility frames. I used to think there was as I've seen them stop taking damage during the animation. I think its actually desync to the servers caused by lag. So your damage technically comes in after you've died. So the game just doesn't register it. It's a big problem in the division. Used to be able to do it deliberately and get yourself several seconds of god mode.

        • Agree. As a Striker main through all of D1, I died hundreds of times in the animation casting FoH. Hell, a single shotgun blast was all it took. D2 supers in general have WAY too much damage resistance. Even when Bladedancers ruled the Crucible year one of D1, it was an extremely high risk/reward super and if you didn't plan it out or use it in close confines, you were getting gunned down quickly. Now with Nova Warp and Spectral Blades, it's just leisurely strolls a couple times around the map with no cares in the world.

          • i feel like in blade barrage and nova bomb you should loose your shields as you cast it... or at least take damage from your own super.

          • Its a 50% dmg reduction. Same as nova bomb and FoH.

            • I bet you didnt complain when titans had invincible panic slams in D1 that did exactly the same thing, or the 1 shot shoulder charge which you can used endlessly with the right exotic and subclass. I bet you main dust rock or tolesto too.

              • Um, tell that to the guardian who used his arc strider last night to deflect a teammates blade barrage into me, I died. Never realized I could die from a super on my own team, but it happened.

                  Have people forgotten that if you masterwork your armor you take exponentially less damage during your super? Personally my full set, either my blade barrage gear or my tether set, is all masterworked. I tested this out in a private crucible match and it’s insane how much of a difference this makes. It’s not invincibility, it’s people putting effort into their gear.

                  • How about also making the explosive knives to damage to caster if fired point blank, like nova bomb. In D1 and D2 casting Novabomb could quite often result in death if unlucky with timing/scenery. Blade barrage can literally fire all knives into a wall point blank, explode and the superfail user just trundles on.

                    • Stop whining other supers need buffed don’t tear down a good Super because you want to trade. Part of the fun of destiny is going on streaks. Other supers get to roam so the few times blade barrage gets a multi because everyone on the other teams is playing hold the pocket is fine. Otherwise so what if they get one kill on a panic super. Your reasoning for a nerf just is way too extreme. There’s a million other things that need to be fixed and blade barrage immunity is not one of them. Nova bomb needs to receive the same treatment.

                      • Why all the scrubs run hunter in pvp. They are OP and have an advantage over all warlocks. Can't believe warlocks nova warp is getting a nerf *due to hunter tears* But hunters are getting more buffs. Bungie killing this game due solely to hunter mains. But I understand why bungie done that bullshit super. The titan in D1 could do the same thing with his smash. But it is bullshit, I've hit hunters with 2 dawn blades and that super bullshit saves them still.

                          • It's fun watching you guys whine about hunters as if Titans didn't get handed the best supers in the game. It's even MORE fun to see you guys try to claim that "Hunters always ask for nerfs" The entire history of this forum is Titans whining for nerfs for hunters, then getting buffed to match hunters, then calling hunters whiners when they get nerfed. Warlocks sitting in the back MOSTLY remaining quiet

                            • I’m trying to figure out why they gave spectral more damage resistance, the things like y1 arcstrider with the infinite twirl animation and it’s impossible to land crits when they can swing their blades indefinitely and cover insane distances with no consequences, with nova warp if you teleport it uses a good amount of super energy and there’s no real way for warp to dodge/evade headshots if they need to close the gap in a lane. as for blade barrage it should either stay as it is but have 0 extra damage resistance or slow down the animation, the speed of the blades, and the range, but it gets the damage resistance of nova bomb users(which is shit)

[b]Buff[/b] all supers and [i]keep them buffed.[/i] 2. [b]Remove[/b] them from PvP entirely.

                                • i dont get y people complain about blade barrage its a quick cast super one use and that its where as supers like sun breaker nova warp dawn blade have armour range and health regen have potential to get a team wipe on use exist

                                  • Yeah welcome to destiny at launch, been saying this since they were a thing. No super, especially quick and powerful ones, should have armor. It just makes it an "I win" button which is stupid.
