Give us a Kinetic Fusion Rifle
Theres lots of options for kinetic snipers and shotties, why not one for a fusion. Even an exotic? I love fusions in pvp, but Id love some more variety and maybe use some of my energy weapons like the Innaugral Address a bit more.

It really hinders the feedback and discussion given. Though that happening is rare to begin with. It's pretty simple guys, the only thing that makes a fusion rifle unique is not ammo type but how it fires. So just make a kinetic weapon fire in that same way. It's pretty simple, and thinking a kinetic weapon can't be made to fire off rounds in sequence is pretty telling. Especially when the subject matter is fiction like destiny. This isn't hard.

Fusion Rifles are literally energy-based weapons. How are you going to add one to the kinetic slot? Someone else pointed out a rail gun, but those things are single shot, charge up, and would probably be too strong or too slow for a primary/special slot.

I’d like a new type of rifle for kinetic slot that works like a fusion. Maybe a ‘scatter’ rifle? Fires kinetic shards out like the energy blasts from a fusion. I just like the way fusions feel and fire. Sucks i lose that option unless I run energy. Meanwhile shotguns are kinetic and energy.

A railgun shoots a single projectile, so, already knocking the fusion rifle (multiple bolts of energy) aspect out of the equation here. Although there is a loophole in the destiny universe here. The Sleeper. The sleeper is the closest thing we have to a railgun in destiny (a fusion that fires a single bolt) Thus, bungie would never make something that powerful a kinetic weapon (mainly because in the kinetic slot it would need to take either special ammo or primary ammo. We know for sure it would not be primary because ammo is too easily accessible. As a special weapon it would outclass all other specials in terms of straight damage because as we know, sleeper stimulant is essentially what it would be comparable to) Or, they could just make a tiny rail gun. I guess. Oh wait! That’s what LINEAR FUSIONS ARE! Which, just like sleeper, are also heavies. Well..... what’s left? Maybe a kinetic rail gun (fusion) that uses heavy ammo? That would be the only option, but then how would that affect your heavy ammo stack on pickups? Split it? Sure. All of this is why there would be no kinetic fusions or, rail guns.... as some of you would like to call them. With all that said, a truly kinetic fusion rifle could never exist because it fires concentrated energy. So basically a void/arc/solar concentrated charge which forms it’s own projectile. There is no form of true kinetic energy as it needs some form of pre existing mass to fire. However, some replies on my post has some great ideas but they do not fit the fusion rifle category and would compete with the already existing railgun-ish rifles already currently available.

6 RisposteBefore you think this idea is good, let me ask you... Why does a fusion rifle charge when you pull the trigger? And what do you think you are shooting at them? Really, it just sounds like the same situation to why there was no 'kinetic burn' or 'kinetic singe' modifier in Nightfalls

1 RispondiI like the idea. Instead of shooting Void, Solar or Arc; it charges potential energy to kenitic. You would essentially be shooting raw energy. A projectile made of pure force (no solid). Would need to be exotic though. Really interesting concept. Good idea.

Something made out of scrap by some mad scientist with kind of a similar style to shards of galanor or cerberus . The thing would work like a coil gun with a visible copper wire coil protruding out of the gun . Charging the fusion rifle would light up that coil with electricity and once fully charged , the nails are sent through that coil and propelled one by one (hence keeping that "fusion rifle" firing when pellets come out in quick succession) . Perhaps the exotic perk could be something like "enemies hit by the nails are immobilized for a short amount of time" or cause a bleeding or something .

It'll probably happen in the form of an exotic LFR that is in the kinetic slot. I'd imagine it to be: - slow firing high impact - low handling - low range - maybe explosive without causing elemental damage - act similarly to the Halo 4 Rail gun - able to hip fire well - stagger enemies in an aoe shock-wave - treated as a cross between an LFR and a regular fusion rifle Future legendary version can be pulse based kinetic "fusion rifle like" where you hold a magnetic charge and unleash it in a mid range volley that can kill multiple targets.
