TO THOSE WHO ARE JUST ASSHOLES: Kindly -blam!- off
Byf had posted this video a few days ago, and dear god it shocked me.
I heavily recommend you watch the video and give Byf some comfort.
The man thinks he’s a failure, when it could be the furthest thing from the truth.
I don’t know why I’m posting this, but I sure as hell know that I don’t want my man Byf to go on :(

Everybody goes through depression in life. But major (clinical) depression is something entirely different. Reading some of the comments here, there are a lot of people who don't seem to understand that fact. I don't really follow Byf but I'm glad that he's getting help. And maybe by sharing his story, he just might influence someone listening to him to get the help they need.

Byf is a failure Myelingames army ftw!!!!!!!
hope the best for byf tho :( just because he’s a YouTuber doesn’t mean he’s not a person
2 RisposteReading theses toxic comments honestly put a lump in my throat, Depression is a very serious and invisible illness. The fact that some people are bashing the amount of strength he’s displayed speak volumes about their character.

1 RispondiSurely he can afford Prozac. Failing that a couple of Es will sort his misery out.

It is astounding to me to see so much disrespect and insensitivity to depression. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised, it is exactly that stigma that makes it such a pervasive problem. It is why people are afraid to get help, and why some end up dying from their depression. I have reported every negative comment I see in this thread, and I do not feel bad, not one bit. Having lost a cousin to depression, I know the toll it can take. So, I have no problem reporting people for being dismissive of depression.

2 RisposteWho is this guy? I could only listen to the first minute. All I hear is "I'm sad because I was wrong with my lore". If that's what the "depression" is about... I don't know what to say. Should I sub so he doesn't hurt himself?
-
6 RisposteI made it through a minute or two and here's my summary. My lore was wrong... I haven't made a video in a week... My past videos were wrong... 😭
-
1 Rispondiyes we know every youtuber has depression. Its kind of a norm these days.
-
10 Rispostelol his fault for sitting on his buttocks all day making stuff up. Pretty sure all the money he gets from donators and free stuff from bungie would keep him happy. It;s a bs move for views, don't fall for it.

17 RisposteI mean... he is one of the drove of YT Creators that do the exact same thing as each other. Houndish Byf Unknown Player Just to name the top 3. They all put out exactly the same content as one another. It's low-quality content with all the work done for them. All they have to do is read what Bungie posted about changes.
-
5 RisposteThe amount of people on these forums who just see someone going through something and claim they “just want attention.” First the post about Deriss by Chief, then this. If you don’t have something positive to contribute, don’t.
-
I watched this also and generally felt bad for him
-
Im sorry that he is going through this
-
This escalated so quickly, jeez. It's been up like a day and there's already like 600 posts in here.

Man people can be cruel for no reason. He's looking for help and allowing himself to be vulnerable, and people are attacking him for it. I don't understand it. Yeah, he's got issues, just like a ton of other people, but so what. Depression is a shit stained mess to go through and climb out of. So why not show support for him, just as you would for anyone else you knew who was going through the same thing? What's the point of getting upset at someone for being willing to share the struggles they go through? The hate in the other comments just confuses me. Look, if you are struggling with depression or mental health issues, don't be afraid to reach out and seek help. Don't turn your back on those who are there for you. Don't shun others who share your burden and your struggles, because who knows what kinds of battles they fight on their own.

3 RisposteNo disrespect to Byf or anyone with Depression, but it seems like everyone has Depression all of a sudden.
-
It always strikes me as amazing how quickly one can pick out exactly how absolutely -blam!-ing terrible the membership here is to each other. No wonder Bungie doesn't come here for feedback.
-
The man is far from a failure. He is my favorite Destiny youtuber and probably one of my favorite youtubers overall.
-
Bump for awareness.

3 RisposteI believe he has depression, I also believe the last thing he should have done was made a video about it. People who live in the social media world tend to deal with depression more, and have a hard time connecting outside of that, which is why he posted on YouTube, however all this is going to do is perpetuate the cycle. He needs to log off, get help and stay offline until he does

2 RisposteWho is Byf?

1 RispondiPersonally, I've always enjoyed Byf for his awesome commentary. The man does his research and aids this community by injecting life back into the shattered, slip-shod lore that Bungie has somehow scraped together. The lore in this game has never been high caliber (think Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc) nor has it even been easily accessible (and not in a Soulsborne esoteric fashion either). Byf basically does Bungie's storyboard team's job for them by dusting off the obscure lore and giving the tales a brilliant shine. I was deeply impressed by his Books of Sorrow series as well as his raid lore coverage. His work gave my raid playtime meaning. Sure, the loot was amazing, and the grind was always present. However, Byf's words gave the raid objectives purpose. So I felt like I was actually slaying gods in the Dark Below and King's Fall rather than swinging an imaginary sword at some blue pixels or performing what basically amounted to a Mario Bros' esque jumping sequence respectively. His tone set and deepened the level of immersion for me by a significant amount, and I'm grateful to him for that, for helping me to actually find (and ENJOY to boot) this game's hidden lore. God speed Byf! Don't let one mistake get you down, bro!

I would like to see him announce that all of the profits made from that video would be donated to a mental health non-profit charity of some kind. I think that would go a long way to showing whether this was for publicity or an actual way to help others.
