Repeat exotics are killing my motivation to play the game
Every time you get one its like punch in the gut. Games are not supposed to feel bad. Don't respond with they said they would fix it. There are TWAB's that date back to 2017 talking about fixing duplicate protection. The worst is having your raid drop be a repeat exotic, now you get robbed of a raid drop and have a worthless item. You can't even infuse cause the system is also broken. I feel like Bungie once again knocked out the first month and left a clusterf$% for the endgame.

I appreciate all the support and people sharing there stories of why this sucks. When asked why exotics are important this was my response :
Exotics literally change the way you play. If you have the Hunter guantlets that give super energy when used blade barrage that would dramatically change the way you play. the same for Phoenix protocol if you play the new subclass. If i am 600 and have beaten the raid, do you think that i might be a bit bored with the current ways i have to play. Each new super(most not all) have an exotic tied to maximize its play style. I can't experience that cause every time an opportunity drops is just and old exotic. Thus locking me out of the new experience. I'm 100% ok with exotic item drop rate i'm not ok with the 99% repeat exotic drop rate.

This also is a conversation about whether it’s better to grind forever to get an exotic or get it easily and actually have fun using it. Me personally, I think the grind sucks and I’d rather just do quest or get it more easily because playing the game is my thing, not working 9-5 to get a lucky drop that may or may not ever come. At least exotics can drop higher than other engrams and have less infusion cost. Silver linings... :/

There are statements about duplicate protection going back to before TTK dropped. I remember them saying the loot system would know your inventory and take that into account when rewards drop. This has been an issue since D1 and they’ve never changed it. THEY DONT WANT TO.

This isn’t even a grind game. Grind games mean play a ton and get shit. This is the same game it’s always been, login Tuesday knock out your weekly’s log off till next Tuesday. That’s it

Feels bad man... I'm at 600 light on all my characters and have been doing every milestone since launch. I have gotten 6 exotic drops. Lord of Wolves is the only forsaken one, the rest have been duplicates. I understand how probability works, they know how probability works. When you make a system completely designed around RNG, you accept that there are going to be people that just get unlucky and are shit on by the system. Bungie knows, they don't care, the majority of people will get at least a few things they want, while a small vocal minority will get completely shit on, but they don't have to care because they are still satisfying the majority of the playerbase. Hell, they don't even need to respond to the angry people, the ones who got what they want will shit on the people complaining without them doing anything.

I had a great couple days. 4 exotic drops...every one a repopped old one. Queensbreaker was welcome. Others were infusion fodder.

Current exotic drop rate is fine, if there were fewer duplicates. Current percentage of duplicates is fine, if exotics dropped more frequently. The 2 factors combined is not fine. I'd personally prefer them to keep the percentage of duplicates as it is but increase the exotic drop rates. The reason for this is because exotics drop as powerful, giving more infusion material. Just my two cents (pennies).

I got about 12 exitics so far at random. Only 2 of them from Forsaken, the Queensbreaker which was awesome and the Titan Leg piece for the slide which sucks. Those were my first 2, then 10 repeated exotics from Y1. I know Im lucky to get those 2, when people didnt get any, but it's sad we are not getting the cool ones.

I have had 15 drop. One new. The rest? All Y1 and two Ace of Spades. Quest items dropping SUCKS!

I totally agree and it’s why I’ve currently stepped away to play other games. The ultimate pursuit for me is exotics and I played everyday atleast 5 hours each day and only received two new exotics that i didn’t earn. Kind of a buzzkill in my opinion.

3 RisposteOk this is totally my opinion but remeber the grind for Ghorn. The grind was so real and once you got it after 3 no land beyonds it felt satisfying. I still have not gotten any weapons but im after Trinity Ghoul or Two Tail fox.

I’m 600 on all 3 and have done everything in the game. Only 3 new exotic drops with only 1 of them being used regularly. the 6th coyote for the hunter- it is pretty useful but not a real game changer except for the double invis. In crucible. Cerberus+1 and two-tailed Fox are just gimmicks right now- albeit fun and I’m glad to have them. Two-tailed Fox is probably the best rocket launcher in the game even though it wouldn’t melt Riven in 10 seconds. I think it’s true potential is yet to be found. Right now whisper and sleeper make it obsolete. Cerberus+1 is fun and decent in crucible but nowhere near the enemy melter that youtubers try to make it out to be. It’s definitely usable in quick play though for fun. A lot of us have had the same drops- the queen breaker and Lord of Wolves are in the common drops too.
