For the most part, everyone was happy with Y3 Destiny 1. Tons of different content to play between the old raids, new raids, PoE, and nightfall and Trials and you had strikes and public events and iron banner and crucible... I like how the balance is right now, in Year 2 of D2... I LOVE the addition of Bows, i think they're amazing. The new Supers are pretty cool. Although i don't like how little customization there is in the super tree setup. D1 was a much better setup.
The way perks worked in D1 was much better with cooldown improvements so you can focus all on super or all on getting your melee back fast. This resilience stuff is total crap and i honestly pay no attention to it. I just wear whatever gear has the highest light and don't even look at the perks.
But all you had to do was bring in a large DLC that would be like a completely new start to Destiny without redoing everything. I would have had no problem forking out 60 bucks for a large expansion instead of a new game that was... the size of an expansion. Vanilla D1
Destiny 2 has been such a waste of an amazing game. You had it pretty well figured out in Y3 D1, so why the heck start all over? Like the game started pretty badly because the weapon slots and supers and balance and gear and everything was off. Why did you try and reinvent the entire game? After 3 years you had most everyone okay with it, so why the heck change it all again?
With every update, you give the people what they want, and then add something stupid no one asked for. People have complained about the leveling system since the very beginning of D2... So you make it more restrictive and confusing?
Edit: My biggest problem is not that we lost the old content, or lost our light or any of that. It's the fact that they tried to re engineer the game from the ground and and failed horribly. Nothing was wrong with the weapon slots or subclass tree setup or XP or bounty system. Imagine if they left that stuff alone, and spent all that time on new weapons and lore and graphics and the story. Didn't even need to redo the supers honestly, until adding the new stuff from Forsaken. Easily could have saved dozens of hours not changing things that didn't need to be changed. Besides, crouching to turn invisible was amazing for solo nightfall or solo raid stuff.

2 RisposteI actually think it’s pretty damn good right now. 🤷♂️

1 RispondiThough the subclass trees were annoying at first, I like what they did with forsaken. Adding more trees makes it better than D1. In D1, everyone had similar customizations for subclasses. Sure, there were a lot of options, but they weren’t that viable. And half of it had to do with jumps, grenades, and armor stats anyways (which are still here) Then comes D2 where we have 2 very similar trees that really limited us. It was disappointing. But now, each subclass has very interesting alternatives that completely change the super. (Though arcstrider and striker third trees aren’t all that different). D1: good Vanilla D2: eh Forsaken: great

1 RispondiHow tf is the leveling system bad? Do you wanna get their right away?
-
So what I'm hearing is that you want a game that is constantly limited by old technology? Can't you just buy a Super Nintendo if you want that? Your argument makes next to no sense.
-
And we’re still on this topic?? It’s like you’re reminiscing about an ex. Time to move on buddy
-
1 RispondiMy only problem with where are now is the overall aesthetic change from D1. D2 is far more stylized, which has resulted in things lookin cheaper, or more cartoony. If Forsaken looked more like god of war, Horizon, or even D1, it would be absolutely incredible. As it stands, a lot of the visuals just don't line up with the serious, epic story they are trying to tell. I will say though, Forsaken is a move in the right direction, and the best looking stuff D2 has had since launch, by a mile.

People still going on about D1...give it a rest

Disagree

6 RisposteThey did it for the new engine and to get rid of ps3 and the 360
-
1 RispondiNope, Y3 of D1 had one foot in the grave. Y2 was the best year of D1.
-
But it is a separate game. Moving on.
-
Good, bad, or otherwise, it is what it is. Hopefully the save Destiny 3 by finally separating PVP & PVE.
-
I, for one, didn’t mind the new weapon slot system or the new subclass tree system. The old subclass perk system left too many untouched perks because everyone ran the same set of em.

6 RisposteBecause gaming companies can NOT survive without casual and solo players and that is what D2 catered to for the launch. It's what paid for Forsaken. However, with as restrictive as the dlc's have been for solo and causal players, my OPINION is I don't think they will be as successful with the third installment. I would start your mourning process now because Bungie will farm out Destiny 3 to someone else while they shift all their focus to the new IP. Bungie knows Destiny's life is limited and it's time to move onto something else. * These are all my opinions. If you get #feelings reading this please feel free to -blam!- right off, children.

What this game should have had was a 4th job class and every job class should have had a 4th elemtal super. Maybe an earth based super or wind/air based supers. The fact Bungie actually took about 30 steps back when it came the the skill tress and job classes really tells you all you need to know about this game.

Destiny 1 was built around the technological limitations of the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I don't begrudge Bungie wanting to build Destiny 2 from the ground up specifically to take full advantage of the current gen consoles, especially when it gives them the opportunity to attract new players to the franchise, new players who might have been intimidated jumping into a 3 year old game with 4 major expansions. What I do resent was the way Bungie made Destiny 2, but that's a topic that's already been discussed and debated a hundred times already.

1 RispondiDestiny 1 was dying by the end of year 3. They needed to generate some new players and they needed to overhaul the entire system. Overall it was the right choice. Destiny wouldn’t last if it worked like world of warcraft
-
D1 was built on outdated technology and, even then, was far behind the curve with regards to console relativity. But more importantly, I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding regarding economics. This is absurd. On countless levels. D1 is still available to play. If you prefer it, play it. /thread

We are rehashing 2017 opinions now? D2 has been out for 12 months. There is no going back so stop this nonsense.
-
If you followed any of the Dev News, there was an internal issue and the original D2 was scrapped in favor of what was launched. "Well we need a new story and go gold in 6 months...WAIT I GOT IT! DESTROY THE TOWER AND THE TRAVELER AND PRETEND IT WAS MEANING FULL TO LORE AND BAM!! EVERYONE STARTS FRESH...EARNING YOUR LIGHT BACK IN 30MIN!"
-
I definitely agree with you, with a few caveats. I will admit that bringing the game to PC, moving away from legacy consoles, and other arguments along the lines of hardware/system capability are valid. However, I think at this point it's pretty crystal clear that Bungie decided to change their approach in regards to the delivery of the game, and shifted their focus towards a more causal player base and that is where the majority of these issues come from. The changes they made from the old D1 systems and the focus on microtransactions is what really alienated the hardcore, devoted player base and hurt the game. I'm glad to see that they are moving the game back towards some the old systems (granted, I haven't played D2 until recently when I picked up Forsaken), but I think they're working towards fixing things and I hope they continue that trend. What I'd really love to see is them bringing more of the content from D1 over to D2. Bring back all of the old patrol zones and Crucible maps: we've already seen them repurpose areas of D1 for D2, so why not? I'd love to run around the Cosmodrome and Venus and the moon again. That would be a dream come true.

1 RispondiYou realize it's in their contract with Activision to make multiple games right?

5 RisposteWait until you hear about their plans to make a D3
