Bring back radar for Comp and Trials

These two playlists have a really low playerbase and it's pretty obvious that they have a lot of issues and the biggest one is no radar. Does somebody prefer it this way?   • I do (like no radar). I don’t play competitive because I play alone and that is not conducive to the ludicrous leveling system. I find radar allows for cheap play. Such as crouch camping with shotguns, Graviton, etc. I think it adds a more even-keeled competition.

    • i was really against the "no radar trials" at first. but then i realized how it was better without, allowing us to surprise the ennemy and flank them, if you are using headphones to hear ennemy jumps/foot steps and communicating, its like having a radar. radar would prevent you from any other strat than : teamshot duuuhh

      • No radar doesn't fit this game, especially with the current ttk. That may change with the update, but as of now, radar needs to be in the game.

        • Radar is one of the few things in destiny that promotes strategic play so yes please

          Then stick to quickplay. Its competitive, having a radar makes it to easy to know where the enemies are. Plus no radar allows exotics such as knucklehead and the Warlock chest one to shine as well. Titan does need an exotic as well to track enemies. We also have the new Bow coming soon to track enemies.

          • And LOL at all the "radar is a crutch" comments. This is demonstrably false. Radar is information — information that EVERYONE in the lobby has. Some players are better at using that information to beat the opposing team than others — and being better at using radar to win IS NOT A CRUTCH, it's a SKILL. Plain and simple, that is it. Radar actually ups the skill gap. The match should be about gunskill and outplay, not -blam!-ing hide-and-seek and find-the-shotty-camper. Also, radar does not negate the need for and advantage of communication. Even with radar, the team with better communication will usually win.

              it was a nice experiment but lets just stop it now that guns are actually going to kill people i do think trials needs to stay no radar tho. its the hard core, most competitive game mode, its tradition that the most competitive game mode in arcade shooters has no radar.

                • I like no radar, it adds a fun type of intensity and that you should always be on your toes in case you get flanked from behind.

                • I think it's clear that the vast majority of players prefer radar in comp and trials. Destiny PvP was built around radar; removing it frankly seems like a lazy and desperate decision. The problem wasn't the radar; the problem was/is the deeply flawed gametypes, Survival and Countdown. Countdown is slow and confusing; Survival often encourages hiding or otherwise avoiding the enemy. Get rid of these, bring back Elimination and also Lockdown (which I really liked) and Showdown (assuming it's good, didn't get to play it), bring back radar, and I guarantee players will return to those playlists.

                • They really didn't need to remove the radar, it just hands a bigger advantage to stacked teams - as if they didn't already have super massive advantages. Meanwhile the solo/due players have no idea where their team is unless they actually stop to look around. Yes - get there's an element of tactics in no map, but no one can reasonably deny that a stacked team does not get an advantage in this respect - they are calling out on discord etc where they are while the solo/due players can't.

                    Some people like the radar, some don't. The real problem is the modes are not fun and take too long. Countdown is best of 11. That is a crime against humanity.

                  • No radar = games can be decided by luck instead of skill Sorry but whoever sees the other player first in comp will win the gunfight (unless said player has heavy or has immediate teammate help) That's not competitive, once your down a player 4-3 the round will usually snowball I round a corner, get lucky and see an enemy with his back to me, spray antiope and before he has a chance to react he's dead. Radar means everyone knows where the enemy is and it comes down to gunskill, not rng back spotting Radar should be enabled but I think comp needs another change as well; game modes, trials should be the elim exclusive playlist, why is comp a copy of it? Toss in clash, supremacy and control as well, the 4vs4 and ranked based searching are what competitive should have. Not elimination gamemodes.

                    • I'm kind of OK with the idea of no radar for Trials, but it should definitely come back in the competitive playlist. Not having it in competitive gives too big an advantage to full teams, and is one of the reasons it's so difficult to play comp as a solo player right now unless your teammates opt into the voice channel, which most don't. If they insist on keeping it off in competitive (and keeping Gloring scoring based on win/loss) then the playlist should just be restricted to full teams because it's entirely pointless to play as a solo player without radar.

                        I say bring it back at least for comp. it gives solo que players a chance to at least help their team. Not everything needs to a sweat fest and cater to people who think their gods at destiny. If you or your stacked team are good at the game radar shouldn’t matter.

                      • In a game where "Radar Tuning" perk is a thing I wouldn't bet that Bungo will ever put it back in Comp

                        I 100% Agree People say its a crutch but I never really thought of it that way plus this makes this near impossible to solo queue I managed to adjust my playing style to work with no radar but to be honest this game is just not designed for no radar due to the fact you can constantly look around corners emoting or using a sword and that D2 just doesn't have the audio cues that other games have (Rainbow six ect.) so 95% if someone is right next to you you cant hear them.Another reason most games that have a competitive game mode with no radar usually have a pretty restricted movement system but a game like D2 where you can jump around.And for my final reason is that it restricts Exotic perks and make them completely useless midas radar while zoomed in or Gemini jesters when you dodge.

                      • Radar is a crutch. I used to play CoD all the time without radar(hardcore mode) and I preferred that due to people not being able to just corner camp watching their radars. Actual mechanics in game such as melee, grenades, guns and other such things aren't crutches are legitimate interactive tools you use to defeat someone. Radar is just something to help you see in which direction or how close people are to you. And no, sound of people is not too low. I legit play PvP in Destiny 2 with the whole UI off sometimes and it's honestly the most fulfilling gameplay in my opinion and you should have to use skill/senses to play in competitive. That's something that helps make it more compretitive and intense than just quickplay.
