I could be wrong, but using a dirty cheat like a LagSwitch will give off a certain pattern to it, unlike just someone with crap Internet. I think a cheater when caught should be busted down to level one and stripped of all their gear and given the rookie gear. Also they should be branded with a mark on whatever gear they put on that flags them as a cheater! Three such marks would equal a permanent ban from Destiny 2 and 1 so they can't pull the same lowlife garage again. Not fair to honest gamers that pay good money to play this game!

1 RispondiPffft lol, that would require competence and effort from Bungie.
-
when a player gets your ip and kicks you when they are host is worse than a lag switcher, they need dedicated servers to solve all the bull.
-
1 RispondiHell, they cant even regulate their own forums https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/247692054/0/0

5 RisposteYou’re asking the wrong question. The question is, why does a flagship AAA title that charges industry premium on every level, not have dedicated servers after 4+ years. That’s the question you should be asking.
-
8 RisposteYou are missing the third option [X] They don't f*cking care

7 RisposteModificato da The-IIID-Emp1r3: 8/9/2018 3:32:38 AMIt's simple, have a minimum requirements system for internet speeds, if you don't have the minimum requirement or somehow intentionally dip below minimum Have the game deny you access to sign in and play, if in a match and you limit your internet speeds have the system kick you outta the match, problem solved

1 RispondiNot without dedicated servers; network manipulation with P2P connections is too easy and there are too many variables say, the host has a potato router that can’t handle traffic then everyone is lagging but no actual cheating is occurring. Bungie shouldn’t be punishing anyone for connections until they have dedicated servers that can actually provide accurate information about network manipulation. Until then (it we ever get dedicated servers) we just have to deal with the cheaters and laggers.

1 Rispondiobviously they can't (or won't) cause after how many years all this crap still goes on? Without dedicated servers - I don't see how.
-
P2P system. And Bunghole is too damn cheap.

2 RisposteModificato da SebastienC: 8/8/2018 10:47:21 PMI would have answered yes, but I don't know if other games have implemented this. I think it's possible. Effective lag switching should have a discernible pattern, and this pattern will be different from the randomness of a bad connection. Computers are very good at recognising patterns (using machine learning techniques). The main problem here is false positives. Such a system should not suspend players all by itself, but should flag them for review by a human supervisor. The same technique could also be applied to detecting and flagging players who use DOS attacks, but it would need more than one game to confirm its decisions.

Dedicated servers would be a good place to start
-
5 RisposteWho even lag switches anymore? There MUCH, MUCH efficient ways😈. Jk
-
2 RisposteWe could see a lot of false positives. Many legit players will get banned from this.
-
How about a system that detects wether or not someone is using the current meta loadout and forcefeeds them rotten fish heads if they do?
-
1 RispondiThere really aren’t that many lag switchers out there dude, it’s just Taco Bell connections.
-
1 RispondiDark souls had a mod that detected cheats on pc and it let you know in game if you were facing a cheater.
-
they can, but the likelihood they will is low... it's taken them this long to iron out a chat system for crying out loud.

Modificato da EvelynWarden: 8/8/2018 6:40:39 PMDo I wish Bungie would punish the cheating base? Yes, and I'm the kind of person that any sort of confirmed network manipulation should be an instant ban. No strikes, just a ban. There won't be, though. False positives will happen. Actual cheaters will whine and scream across the forums and set reddit on fire. It's more toxicity from the community that the studio can easily avoid by just not addressing the issue. I don't blame them, but realistically, no - I don't think it'll happen, ever. It's a lot of resources and micromanaging that will always result in negativity for the effort. What they can implement may not be effective or accurate... so, we're just kind of stuck with this.

3 RisposteClay is clutch, impunity over 2 years. Bungo doesn't care.
-
I'm not sure if they can or not. I don't encounter it too much, but was against a group earlier today that were popping all over the place. Of course they were from a third world country and maybe their internet is just garbage. To me though, it felt intentional.
-
all the servers can "perceive" is that there are packets dropping. You could probably make assumptions that some "patterns" are caused by malicious behavior. but there would 100% be false positives... and probably many of them.
-
They'd lose too much of the community.
-
6 RisposteConsidering Bungie does absolutely nothing to punish cheaters I recommend everyone to install lag switchers on their networks and buy a modded controller with rapid fire mods. I think the problem is that a lot of the cheaters are twitch streamers and they won't ban them because they are pulling in views which promotes D2.

10 Risposte100% dedicated servers is the answer
-
Not without dedicated servers
