To me this issue boils down to four groups with different perspectives.
Group A: Hated the comic's focus on her love life and would have felt the same whether she was straight or gay. This group wanted less of a pre-teen romance novel and more lore on Rasputin and Ana Bray the guardian. This groups thinks the character was poorly written but does not believe her sexuality was the problem.
Group B: This group is tired of what they see as minorities being "over-represented" in art and media. They believe white, male, heterosexual characters are being intentionally under-represented. Ana Bray being gay seems like a lazy liberal stunt to these people.
Group C: Either liked or disliked the comic book, but wants to be sure that Group B is confronted for what they believe. This group believes that minority groups need to be modeled in important positions within art and media to counterbalance the prevailing white-hetero normative that pervades society.
Group D: Usually responds with something humorous/humorless in order to stir the pot or take attention away from a subject they are tired of.
Of course, it is possible to fall somewhere in between.

None of the above. All human stories deserve to be told. ..and that sometimes means you tell stories about people who aren't "white, male, heterosexuals".....and don't reflect the stereotypes those individuals have about those who are not. Ana Bray is a soldier who happens to be gay...in a world where there are soldiers who happen to be gay. No controversy. Or at least none until people wanting to depict a world that isn't real.

1 RispondiTBH, I hate forced romance plots unless that's the primary purpose of the comics no matter who is the focal point of the romance. I think it's bad writing in general. Making the romance homosexual also screams political pandering to me. It's fine if the sole purpose of the story was to highlight the romance, but the comic I believe was supposed to be a prelude to Warmind's events. Gay white male, btw.

8 RisposteI am a white heterosexual male and I chose B. And I am proud of it.

I don't have an issue with her or this whole controversy, my only issue is that Ana Bray is a Marry Sue and that the comic wasn't written as well as it could have been. I think that the story should always come first and no level of diversity will help improve a poorly written story.

I liked it and didn't care she was/is gay. I agree that it probably wasn't needed, but I still didn't make a big fuss about it

7 RisposteModificato da Ambo: 7/14/2018 6:20:15 PMThey need to cut the SJW bs and focus on, you know, saving humanity and more backstory on Rasputin, which is the important stuff? But I guess the SJW writer thought it was more important to prioritize their political agenda and fill the comic with the trash we got?
