Already have worries about the money grab with Year 2
So...
I'm sitting here watching the Twitch stream for the Year 2 reveal of Destiny 2, and I was like... Soooo freaking excited. Sooooo excited all the way through the vid doc and even into the beginning of the actual live stream, but then they introduced this thing called the Annual Pass.
I could be overreacting, and that's part of the reason I'm making this post, but it really seems like the Annual Pass is just a new way for Bungie to content block the community and seep you dry of money without actually really giving you any new REAL content.
So, is the Annual Pass like the DLC bundle you bought when you first purchased the game, except for the next year of coming DLC's? Or is the Annual Pass a new pay wall that essentially brings a pay-to-win experience into Destiny? The way they talked about it on stream made it seem like the later. Like a way for Bungie to stay afloat because they've been taking hits in their revenue because Destiny 2 and it's subsequent DLC's really didn't hit the mark. If that is the case, I don't think the community should be held accountable for that loss and be responsible for recouping it.
So please please please tell me I'm wrong, and teach me a little more about what's really going on.
Also, can I get your opinions? I'm interested to hear about everyone's impressions on this.

I don't understand your view concerning "pay to win." I do understand that paywalling player progression in terms of power level is, on my first impression, pay to play. Considering power level is supposed to matter in IB and Trials, I would assume we would need the latest DLC for access to these events. To be honest, I don't recall how the system exactly worked in D1 in terms of restricting access to content (IB and Trials) when a new DLC dropped and power level mattered in those events.

5 RisposteMy understanding is the annual pass allows access to special events (read sparrow racing or festival of dawning) and that there will be 3 of them during year 2. So these are not full blown dlc’s. They are events that will come and then go and you won’t be able to play them with or without the annual pass. And it being an annual pass you will need to purchase it again in year 3 if you want to play the events again. These are the things that were originally to be funded by Eververse. Apparently the player base actually did revolt against Eververse and the money is not there so they need a new revenue stream. That’s my understanding of it. Maybe I interpreted it wrong.

So it boils down too, the first year was a waste, like D1 was. I'm not starting over again, I'll grind this till I'm maxed, then adios, it's all yours...I feel like I'm paying to be irritated..Lol

2 RisposteI hope the annual pass replaces DLC's and isnt an extra cost on top. If it replaces it, then I also hope there will still be new stories and missions as if it were DLC, and not just some "new PvP maps, new raid areas and new exotics" I want solo PvE content. It seems the pass is a way to get players to part with their cash in one go. If they release DLCs separately some people may buy one and not the other, depending on how they feel about the game.

4 RisposteI didn’t get my money’s worth on either lame excuse for dlc they put out. Now I need to fork over another $70 on top of what I spent. No thanks. If I was getting my money’s worth, I might feel differently. Guess I’ll go hang out with my buddies on all these free to play games.

5 RisposteWhat really makes me confused is how they say you can’t pay to win in D2, but they lock some good weapons behind the DLC’s. I can’t even get suros regime or the crimson hand cannon because i didn’t fork over another $40. This “expansion” will just bring more paywalls and locks.

You’re not alone Bro I am the same way. Annual pass is another means of locking out content behind a big paywall. And some of the items include exotics and if an exotic is super powerful then it is pay to win so not a fan.

I'm out simply because I'm not going to pay money for CoO and Warmind just so I can buy this expansion in the hopes that it truly is an improvement.

They should have made the Forsaken update free and if the game is really as improved as they say it will be, they would sell a lot more season passes than they will initially right now.

The expansion is $40. Buy it or leave it. The additional YEAR of content is $30 more.

But if you want even more stuff to unlock in the wild (other missions, bounties, weapons, armor) buy the annual pass to get more loot, basically. If there is missions, it will be on a place everyone can already access, you just pay more to access something different there. It's kind of lame they want people to buy the dlc plus the annual pass.. If eververse is still in the game, charging people even more money, would be crazy as hell! New update actually looks good. It's what D2 should of been at launch.

5 RisposteBungie is not to be trusted. They are con men with their hands in your pocket. Everything they do or say is to confuse you. Never trust anyone who will not be honest with you. I understand that they are a business and need to make money. But they have always been presented the option of being transparent or devious and always chose devious. So that tells you what you need to know about the annual pass.

Alongside seasonal updates and live events available to every Destiny 2 player, Forsaken Annual Pass provides bonus rewards and introduces three premium content releases. Each release delivers new experiences to Destiny 2: Forsaken, including activities, end game content, and an arsenal of powerful weapons, armor, and gear to earn. That's a description of the AP. It's $10 for quarterly content which equals $30 for 3 that is not DLC. It's somewhere between DLC and those other seasonal events that are free to everyone. Won't know if it's worth it until we see what we get. Sounds worth it but you never know until you play it.

After i saw the video, i don't care. It looks like a lot of new content. I would rather spend 30 Euro on this expension, then buy some other game i don't know or i play 2 hours and come back to Destiny :)

2 RisposteModificato da Coldhands: 6/5/2018 8:06:01 PMThe way they talked about it sounded like it was a replacement for the December and May $20 DLCs we got in year one of both games, and so we don't go a year with nothing like year 2 last time. Destiny's content delivery schedule has been kind of TBD from the start, and the Annual Pass seems like their final solution for setting a regular, achievable pace that players can expect new stuff to come out in. Unless it totally flops, I'm guessing this is what we can expect going forward. Big, annual expansions (or straight up sequel) in September, and an Annual Pass covering regular content drops in between. Now, I have no doubt that anybody not buying the annual pass is going to fall behind the same way anybody not buying every WoW expansion isn't going to be able to stay current. They did mention that game improvements will be for everybody, whether they've bought the annual pass or not, but I imagine that you wont be able to keep playing Destiny hardcore if you're not buying the new content as it comes out.
