Trials has no SBMM and never really has. It’s connection based. Trials is end game pvp and is meant for the best to succeed.

The closest to 'skill based' trials gets is it tries to match you with teams that have the same card number as you, but if there isn't such a team currently in matchmaking, then you'll get matched with whoever else is next closest. If you get to 4-0, then the other teams you're working with are near 4-0, but it doens't mean your skills are equal, it just means the other team is on their 4-0 and was in matchmaking at the same time as you (or, again, there were no other 4-0, so it matched you with next closest that it considers close). I don't remember Bungie saying anything about it being skill based, but if you do, can you please post a link to the TWAB that mentioned this? As a side note, ELO and the like aren't Bungie things, those are third-party things that keep track of relative skill. Bungie doesn't use ELO in any way.
